Providence, Rhode Island

From the living room window, the man looked out at the street. It was mostly quiet except for his bodyguards that were standing guard by the entrance to his newly purchased estate. It hadn’t been easy buying the old house since it was considered a historical landmark but money was no issue for him. His company made him billions of dollars each month.

The man turned around to face his two guests. One was a woman and the other was an older looking man. They were both wrapped in vines that came out of the floor. The man knew that if the proprietor of the estate saw what had happened to the floor, he would have a mental meltdown.

The man went up to the older man. “Hello Nichallo.” He said. “It’s nice to see you again after all of these years.”

Nichallo looked at the man. “Who are you?” He asked the man. He didn’t recognize the man at all and it bothered him that the man was acting like he had known about Nichallo for so long.

The man smiled. “That’s right.” He said. “You wouldn’t remember seeing me all of those years ago. After all, you were interested in just Lovecraft. You wouldn’t have noticed me.”

The man looked at the woman. “Don’t think I forgot you were there Golden Child.” He told her. “Though you’re not a child anymore.” He went up to her. “I can see why the Dark Ones were easily defeated by you.”

Cassidy looked at the man. “Who are you?” She asked. There was something about this man that gave her a bad feeling. He wasn’t normal, not if he knew about the Dark Ones being real and that she was the Golden Child.

The man took a step back. “I’m surprised you don’t recognize me.” He told the two. “After all, I’m no secret. The world knows of me from the news.”

“I hate to tell you this but I don’t have a television.” Nichallo told the man. Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the (F)indNƟvᴇl.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

The man looked at Nichallo. “I am not surprise by that.” He told the immortal. “After all, you are an immortal who’s been here for thousands of years.” The man took a step back. “You can call me Tempest since you don’t know who I really am.”

Cassidy looked at the man. “Why are we here?” She asked. “Where are we even?” She didn’t recognize the room. The last thing she remembered was being at her home when several vines had wrapped around her and had dragged her out through the balcony door. She had lost consciousness when she had hit the ground and then had woken up in the room still wrapped up.

Tempest looked at Cassidy. “You are at the home of Lovecraft, the man who served the Cthulhu.” He told her. “Had it not been for Nichallo here, the Old Ones would have all been released years ago instead of just a handful of them.”

Tempest went back to the window. “With you two captured, no one will be able to stop me from releasing the Cthulhu the rest of the way.” Tempest said. “The Old Ones will take this world again and there won’t be a silver or gold child stopping me.” He couldn’t help but smirk a little.

“Elizabeth will look for us.” Nichallo told Tempest. “By now she’ll have seen what happened to my shop and she doesn’t stop hunting until she has found what she’s looking for.”

Tempest shrugged. “I guess I’ll just have to kill her then.” He said. “Or rather, my friend will kill her for me.” He smiled before he left the room.

Tempest went to another room. In it was a large map of the United States that took up most of the floor. He looked at where New York City was. On top of the island city was a small stick standing on one end. He smiled. So Shub-Niggurath was still alive. That was good. He looked at the rest of the map. There was a small golden flame hovering over Providence. He knew it was referring to Cassidy.

Tempest didn’t see any other signs of magical beings on the map so he left the room, locking the door behind him. No one could know that he had a map that showed him where magical beings were.
