Old Timer shop…Brooklyn

Vanel was fixing a grandfather clock in the back when he heard the bell attached to his front door ring. “I’ll be with you in a second!” He called out as he put down his screwdriver. He looked at himself in the mirror in case there was a beautiful woman who had entered his shop. He was optimistic, unlike most of his fellow necromancers who took the gloom and doom too seriously.

Vanel entered the main part of his shop, stopping when he saw Elizabeth, Carver and Tora. “No.” He said, pointing at Elizabeth. “Just no. I’m not helping you so you can just leave and take your friends with you.”

Elizabeth crossed her arms over her chest. “Vanel, we need to talk.” She told him.

Vanel looked at Tora. “She isn’t mine, right?” He asked Elizabeth.

Tora’s eyes widened and she looked at Elizabeth. “You two dated?” She asked in disbelief. That was not in her mother’s book. She looked at Carver. “Did you know they dated?” S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Of course not you idiot.” Elizabeth replied to Vanel. “We spent more time fighting each other than actually dating.” She went up to him. “But right now, we need your help to stop an end of the world event.”

Vanel rolled his eyes. “Of course you do.” He said. “Like I don’t have anything better to do.” He turned to leave but Elizabeth grabbed him by the arm. Vanel looked at her. He could tell that he was fighting a losing battle. He sighed. “What do you want?” He asked her.

“As I’m sure you are aware, the last silver aura one, Carver’s wife, died a few years back.” Elizabeth said. She knew that every magical being in the world, regardless of whose side they were on, would have felt the silver aura going out. “Right now, the golden one and the Guardian are missing. Our only hope of stopping the Cthulhu from returning is to find the new silver child.”

“Is that all?” Vanel asked before he shook his head. “Why is it that the only ones who can save the day is either a golden one or a silver one?” It was starting to get old for him.

“Just help us find the new silver child and we’ll be out of your hair.” Elizabeth told him.

Vanel brightened up at that. “Swear it on the River Styx.” He told her. “I don’t want you coming back here ever again to bother me.” He finally had a chance at making sure that Elizabeth never bothered him again.

Elizabeth sighed. “Fine.” She said. “I swear on the River Styx that I will never bother you Vanel at the Old Timer again after today.”

All four of them felt the building shake as the oath took effect.

“Now help us find the new silver child.” Elizabeth told Vanel.

Vanel led the three into the back of his shop. “Obviously you know I started looking for the new silver child after the last silver aura person died.” He told Elizabeth and Carver. He looked at Carver. “My condolences by the way.” He added.

Vanel took out a crystal orb. “It wasn’t easy since I had no idea if it would be like a reincarnation thing or if the silver aura is dormant until the person uses magic for the first time.” He told them. “I spent about a year looking until I came across this.”

Vanel’s eyes glowed black as the crystal orb began to glow brightly. “I wasn’t sure who I was detecting right away but whoever it was, had never used magic before.” He said as an image of a teenage girl appeared in the crystal orb. It looked like she was at a table reading a book. She was wearing black clothes so it was hard to tell right away where her black hair ended. She didn’t look like she exactly belong in the library.

“No idea who she is or where she is. I figured that as long as no one went looking for her, the new silver child would be safe.” Vanel said as his eyes returned to normal. He looked at the three. “I know that the Old Ones aren’t a joking matter but are you sure bringing this girl in is the best idea? Once she knows who she is, every Old One out there, and there’s a few of them mind you, will be looking for her.”

“We have no choice.” Carver replied. “Cassidy is still alive and a prisoner so we can’t use the golden one to defeat the Old Ones if Mr. Tempest releases them first.”

Vanel sighed. “I was really hoping that all of this craziness ended with the Dark Ones.” He said.

“We all did.” Elizabeth told Vanel. “But there will always be evil out there.”

“Just try not to get this one killed.” Vanel said. “I really don’t want to have to keep finding the new silver child every time the last one gets killed.”

“We’ll do our best.” Carver said. He was determined not to let Mr. Tempest win. He had a score to settle with the kidnapper.
