Anastasia was shocked by my decision, that much was obvious but she settled for pursing her lips which I read as acceptance that it was my decision and she helped me to my feet.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.”
I barely had time to respond to her before Zander was by my side and he lifted me in his arms bridal style and walked out of the room.
It was at that moment that I remembered that we were in a ballroom and everyone was now staring at me with wide eyes. I knew that tomorrow I would be the topic of discussion and I would probably hear ten different versions of the same story but I was too exhausted to care.
I understood then why Helena had said I would need rest because I was starting to feel a little drowsy. It was a battle to keep my eyes open as I was led into a black SUV. I expected Helena to sit with me at least but I was shocked when I saw her and Lucas get into the backseat of another car.
The side door opened and Zander got in next to me. I was so stunned that I couldn‘ t speak. A driver got in front and a guard got in after him and the car started. moving. It took everything not to fall asleep because the car moved so smoothly. It was by far the best ride I had ever been on in my life.
Shortly before the ride was over, I felt Zander lean over to my side as if he was going to kiss me but at the last moment, he paused. I tried to calm my beating heart and my racing pulse.
“Do you feel that?” he asked and I shook my head even though my wolf inside me was dancing.
He smiled to himself, almost as if he knew I was lying and sat up straight.
The drive was over faster than I would have liked and we were in front of the largest hotel in the pack. Technically, it is on the pack border and it isn’t owned by our pack. It is a freelance owned by the royal family.

Every wall was lined with glass and as I walked in, I couldn’t help but feel out of place. There were crystal chandeliers across every ceiling and the furniture was made from polished marble and class. The chairs looked so comfortable and they screamed expensive.
Zander led me into the elevator and I couldn’t help the giddy feeling in my chest. I have never used an elevator before. As it started to move, I got startled and grasped onto Zander’s arm. He looked down at me and I quickly pulled back and cleared my throat.
“I’m sorry,” I couldn’t look him in the eyes as I spoke.
The doors opened and the guards walked out first. Just as I was about to step out, I felt Zander lean down and whisper.
“It’s okay; I got scared on my first time too.”
With that, he walked out of the elevator leaving me staring at him and ultimately having to rush to catch up with him.
Zander took a card out of his pocket and swiped it on the door leading it to slide open- I was amazed by that but thankfully was able to hide it. As he gestured for me to walk in, I started to get nervous.
I didn’t know anything about Zander save for the fact that he is the prince. In fact, as of this morning, I didn’t even know his name. I wrung my hands together and took a slow and steady step inside.
“You can freshen up in the bathroom; I will have some clothes set out for you.”
“Thank you.”
I didn’t waste any time in rushing into the bathroom. I took in the space with wide eyes and awe. It was made of pure white marble and I felt dirty by simply standing in the room. There was a full length mirror opposite the shower and there was an unopened toothbrush at the sink that I gratefully used.
I noticed some clothes at the sink and that was when I realized that I was in Zander‘ s room. I felt a little uneasy because I didn’t know what he wanted but I forced myself to stay calm.
Stripping off my dress was hard. When I wore it, I had help from some people so !

didn’t realize how difficult it would be to remove it. It took me five minutes and a lot of huffing and puffing before I was finally able to get it off my body. I neatly folded it on the towel rack and got into the shower.
As I stood under the hot shower, my thoughts from the day started slamming into me at breakneck speed. It was shocking how I started the day as Derek’s mate and now I am free of him. I didn’t know when I started to tear up.
I decided that Derek wasn’t worth my tears so I quickly wiped them and made my way out of the bathroom. I dried off and wore one of the fluffy white robes then
went back into the room.
As he said, there were clothes on the bed but he was nowhere to be seen. The clothes were more vulgar than I was used to. It was a simple black lace nightgown that stopped around my mid thighs and a transparent black robe of the same length and lace.
I knew I had no other options so I put them on. They were a little tight on me and I felt exposed but other than that, I was good..
As I finished dressing, the door opened and Zander returned with an older looking
man.
“This is the royal physician,” he explained, “He will be doing a health check on you.”
I was curious as to why but I didn’t want to ask seeing as he had already shown me so much hospitality so I nodded. Zander took my dress and heels from me and put them in a closet then instructed me to lie on my back for the physician to do his
work.
I was nervous but I did as he asked.

The physician flashed a light in my eyes and poked at my skin. He also hit knee and elbow a few times but he explained that it was to test my reflexes. Things got awkward when he asked to look between my thighs but Zander assured me that everything was fine.
The physician bowed to Zander before leaving. After Zander had locked the door, he turned to me.
“I’m glad the clothes fit, they’re Helena’s.” Suddenly it made more sense. Of course she would own something so expensive, “Are you okay?”
CHAPTER T
“I’m tired,” at that moment, a loud yawn escaped me.
“You should rest.” He didn’t need to tell me twice. The bed was as soft as a marshmallow cloud and I was already falling asleep.
“Thank you for everything today.”

Zander looked at me for a full minute before finally nodding. He turned out the lights and climbed in bed next to me. His close proximity made it hard to sleep and the fact that I knew he was staring at me didn’t help.
I could feel his body heat and a part of me wanted it closer but I knew it would be too forward of me and the last thing I wanted was for him to think that I was like

Just as I was finally dozing off, I felt him move around a little under the covers and then he kissed me softly. It wasn’t a kiss of romance or passion, but rather one of comfort. I knew it was his own way of offering m comfort after the events of the day.
I was taken aback by the action that I didn’t have time to respond before he pulled back and draped the covers over me properly.
