’I don’t know how all this madness started; I always thought that my life had a purpose, but I never imagined that this purpose could only be fulfilled by my own end. Things got out of control and now it’s too late.

’He got all the other and I’m the next one on his list; the last one... We reached a knowledge that should have never been reached; we saw the forbidden truth with our bare eyes. I’m afraid that anything we might try to do will only make the inevitable come faster.

‘I have no regrets though, I had a great life, great memories and I knew what many people have searched for years: Love. Now I’m going to join her and everything will be fine…My death won’t be pointless; he might get what he wants for a moment, but everything will be just fine in the end…’

Those few words were written by a scared old man in a cheap Motel, in the middle of the night, somewhere in Nigeria. A quite enigmatic message that no one was able to decipher in that doomed realm, but those words were of paramount importance in the understanding of the most important event to ever happen in this particular time line of Earth.

In this realm where time was monitored by the time watch, Peter, the old German man, was considered by many as one of the greatest minds of his era. He was one of the greatest physicians earth ever had, some considered him as far better than powerhouse Physics geniuses such as Einstein, or Hawking. He worked for the CERN for almost forty years from the 1950s to the 1990s and won three Nobel prizes in Physics. But all that was far behind in his current situation; he was as afraid as a lab rat in an unknown maze and strongly felt that whatever he did, he won’t make it beyond this inevitable event.

A little breeze on the back of his head took Peter off his thoughts and brought him right back into reality. His first reflex was to turn to the source of the wind, but once he did, his heart skipped a beat. On the other side of the room, stepping from the window to the room, he was there.

“You found me after all… You know you won’t have anything from me. I know what you are after, and I won’t get you any closer to it.” Peter said with little confidence in his voice. He tried to seem brave, but he was terrified.

The stranger stepped into the light clearly appearing to Peter. He was slender and shady, and looked composed and calm. His face was half hidden under his silver hood, making it quite difficult to assess his age. What could be seen of his face was blank of expressions. A black nine was sawed into his grey hoodie on the upper left front.

“If you are here to kill me like you killed the others, do it and let’s be done with it!” Peter shouted at the stranger frightened by his lack of reaction. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ Find ɴøᴠel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

The man under the hood stepped forward until being face to face with Peter.

“It doesn’t have to be this way.” The man’s voice was very deep and reassuring which surprised Peter first; for a second, he almost believed that the stranger wasn’t dangerous.

“I can’t give you what you want, if I do, I’ll be a traitor to my whole species. I CAN’T!!” Peter started shouting.

“Do you believe that you can stop the unstoppable? What must happen will happen as it has already happened, not you not me can stop it old man.” The stranger said in a cold voice.

“You want to destroy time, bring this world to an end, why should I bare this atrocity with you?” The old man asked calmly.

“Time runs and runs and runs, but Silence always falls. Silence is needed for the whole universe to move forward. I am the envoy of the Silence God, and the chosen soul of Void, it is my part to play in the greater scheme of things to stop the melody of time in this doomed world,” The stranger explained.

“Who are you really?” Peter asked.

“I am number 9, Samith Alayl they call me. I am no mere human, I am something else. I have watched upon your world since its dawn, and now dusk is almost here.”

He paused.

“Have you made your choice, Doctor Peter?” Samith asked.

“I won’t reveal the location of the quantum keys. You will never access the Nexus!” Peter said.

“Well then,” Number nine said. “I am afraid your journey stops here.”

In a blink of an eye, Samith caught Peter by the throat and raised him above the ground squeezing life out of him.

“Y…you…wi…ll…fail…” Peter struggled to say.

Hearing that, 9 dropped the old man who heavily started to breathe again, getting back some colors.

“Nothing will stop Silence’s fall.” Samith said.

“Time will stop, yes, but the music will rise again and break through the silence. This world might disappear, but a new one will take its place, a better one, and not you not anyone will stop that from ha…”

Peter didn’t finish his sentence, he spat blood as he was saying the last words. He looked down realizing that a dark sharp substance spreading from Samith’s hand was penetrating his chest, shredding one of his lungs.

“Dein Leben wird eine ewige Hölle…” The old German managed to say before letting go of his last breath.

The pure void blade disappeared, leaving Peter’s body to drop bluntly on the ground.

“Fool…” Number 9 whispered before turning to the window and jumping out of it disappearing in the night.
