The New World
Chapter 11 – ‘Trio’

I felt Grayson’s eyes on me as I walked over to him, but I sure had no time to explain what Tessa said, nor could I find the words to put it in. I just knew my poor mind was on overload with that, and actually curious how I knew nothing about that.

“Are you okay?” I looked at Grayson and gave him a nod. I know he wouldn’t like that and that he wanted more, but I just couldn’t. I let out a breath, my gaze locked with Derrick’s and then with Tessa.

“Okay, Jonah and Tessa, you guys said you had figured a few things out, want to explain what that is?” Tessa nodded and stood up, laying the book on the table.

“It’s not much, but some of the things we could start to figure out is that Sol’s book here does a lot of talking about this war.” Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the Findɴovel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“How were you able to figure that out?” Grayson asked. Tessa took the first section of the book that was less than a quarter thick.

“From the random things we were able to pick out here, this is stuff about him, his life, and his daughter; we haven’t gotten every far in that part though. What we have picked up a lot on throughout the rest of the book is this word,” she said, opening it to the page and showing us the word. “We know this means trio, or pyramid, basically three. Which is in reference to you and Grayson.”

“As that’s what we were told,” I said, looking at the word and then up at Tessa.

“And they are right. But this same word appears in the rest of this book 35 more times. But this word, like this, just five more times.”

“I’m confused. Is there other variations of this word?” Dylan asked and Jonah nodded and answered.

“When studying a language you don’t know, you start with picking out something you might know because it’s similar. While we were looking over this line by line, we came across this word. We know it means trio because Mundias uses it in a powerful spell that’s almost as old as Fire. We know that spell uses the term ‘trio plane’ which means the planes of Space, Earth and Hell; it’s the same exact word.

“The next part about studying is looking for repetition. When we noticed that, we spent time counting out how many more times that word appeared. This lettering that follows that word is a crown, meaning a crowned trio.” My brows creased and I looked at Grayson, who shot the babies a look after what Jonah said.

“Exactly Grayson,” Tessa said, her eyes drifting to the little ones. “Because of the power that created them, they are legitimately a crowned trio. You were taught the ways of our families, but they have a power within them. They will be weaker, as they will on all sides as they are not full fledge in anything, but at the same time, not many will ever bother them because they won’t know about their powers.

“And Sol talks about this, that they will be just as important in this war as you two will be. Amongst that, they will lead when they need to and will do so smartly.”

“Okay and the last word?” Elric asked. “What does the other word mean?” Jonah flipped to that word along with the symbol behind it.

“This version of trio is in reference to the word of super naturals. And from what we have gathered, Sol is talking about three very strong super naturals working for Demonio.”

“I’m sorry, what? What do you mean, working for him?” Anna asked and I nodded.

“The General is not the only who has or will be actually working for him. He needs one super natural from each species,” Jonah said and my eyes opened wide.

“That would explain why he had The General.” Anna glanced at me and shook her head.

“I don’t understand.”

“Of the three of us, vampires are the least likely to have any loyalty to anyone, so you go for the one link that’s your weakest, which is a vampire. Now many vampires are powerful because of the age that sits with them, but none are really as cruel as he is,” Grayson said, leaning back in his chair. “Demonio was right to get a vampire first and especially that one.”

“Having a mate for a vampire is something I hate,” Derrick muttered and I smiled.

“I haven’t shared all our secrets, but rest assured Derrick, I know something’s about wolves too,” I told him. “With all of that being said, do you know why he needs them?”

“We don’t have that 100 percent figured out,” Tessa said, sitting down. “But what we can say, and that’s from what have seen, is that this moment, there are more vampires turning than any other of us. So, taking an educated guess, Demonio is using vampire blood to help turn.” I crossed my arms as I chewed on my lip.

“Which would make sense, I suppose. So, if he is looking after a family and a pack, how does he determine power? Size? Strength? Mere power?” Tessa and Jonah shared a look and I lifted a brow. “What?”

“We have five families that we would say would be some of the most powerful and that is based on the standing and the power of their craft behind them,” Jonah said but then he paused and took another breath. “And who might have dabbled in the dark arts.” I stood up and shook my head.

“No, no way! Dark arts was forbidden!”

“So was cross matting,” Derrick said, giving both Grayson and myself a look, “but there you are with two fucking babies no less, so let’s not go down that road, Fire.” Grayson placed his hand on my arm and sat me down.

“What do you know about the dark arts, Fire?” Grayson asked. I knew more than my fair share given how long I have been around, and I saw the destruction it could do not just a person, but a family. “Derrick is right, many things have been outlawed but that doesn’t mean it’s not done. Tessa, Jonah, you have ideas on families, but not packs?”

“No, I can’t say I’m all too familiar with packs,” Jonah said and Tessa nodded her head in agreement.

“That’s fine, Dylan, Anna and I can brain storm and see what we can come up with.”

“Good, in the mean time, I think if we see more active creatures then vampires, we know he has his team,” I said, my eyes landing on the book. I let my mind wander for a moment, my finger nail running over my lip as I thought. Something was sticking out in my mind but I couldn’t put my finger on it.

“Alphas?” I questioned and everyone turned and looked at me. “Did any of you ever read the founding story of wolves told by Lunella?” My gaze stayed centered on the book as thoughts floated around.

“When I was child, why Fire?” Anna asked and I ran my tongue over my fang.

“Mundias never wrote a book on how the existence of witches came to be or how the power was ever bestowed; any past teaching from her are all merely on spells and none have the word blood. And vampires, well, we all know shit about us and this is all we got. But Lunella wrote how she brought forth the Alpha from her own blood.” I finally looked up and then Grayson’s mouth opened.

“If you could find ‘trio’ based on Mundias, then you should be able to figure out blood off of her teaching,” he said and I nodded.

“Something is screaming at me that blood is a very vital part to a lot of things and I need that book to tell me what.”
