The Nian land is changing. When the land changes, enemies come. The Lizia have not come for ages. No one alive has ever seen one. Some no longer believe the Histories. But the signs say IT IS TIME. The land of the Nians is changing. A drought year has started, and when the rain stops, enemies come. The Lizia of legends past have not invaded the Nian lands for ages. No one alive has ever seen one, nor remembers the great battle Dances of the past. Some no longer believe the Histories, not even the Dancers who protect the village. Many have left the old ways and started their own colony. Alaene believes in the Histories, but even her best friend has abandoned his duties to the village with many others. They have little time to prepare, and many ridicule her concerns as the summer progresses; but the signs of danger are foretold in the Histories, and the signs say . . .IT IS TIME. The Lizia are coming whether you believe in them or not.
