He was worried that Alexandra had told Julian something she shouldn’t have.
In fact, he had planned everything well. First, he sneakily brought Alexandra to Highclere City.
He would then send her to undergo intensive training in socialite etiquette. When the time came, he would declare to the Ranford family that Alexandra was sent abroad for recovery due to her poor health.
All he had to do was gloss over the truth.
He never expected Alexandra to head straight to Julian the moment she got off the train.
Moreover, she was dressed in rags!
Peter wondered what Julian had felt upon meeting his fiancee.
“If Julian felt offended and informed Mistress Josephine about this, my precious Veronica would be forced to marry that devill” He thought about it in horror.
No, he mustn’t let such a thing happen!
When she saw Peter’s exasperation, Alexandra couldn’t help but sneer.
Peter feared that the Ranfords would refuse to acknowledge the substitute.
However, she didn’t plan to take over Veronica’s marriage for the one million dollars.
As a matter of fact, she only came to Highclere City to search for Ace.
That was why she disclosed the truth to Julian.
To her surprise, Julian didn’t care about the marriage either-instead, he proposed a ludicrous offer. Since he agreed to hel her find Ace, she had nothing to fear.
The two reached an agreement there and then.
Besides, a nobleman like Julian would never consider a country bumpkin like her.
Hence, she had nothing to worry about.
Alexandra looked at Peter and slowly spoke. “Why are you so anxious, Mr. Doherty? Are you worried I’ll stand your beloved daughter will be forced to marry a notorious scoundrel?”
In an instant, Peter felt like a bucket of cold water had been dumped over his head.
It turned out that the country bumpkin was fully aware of the truth the whole time!
Seeing the shock and uneasiness on the couples’ faces, Alexandra couldn’t help but giggle.
She stared straight at them and said,
“So what if he’s that infamous Julian Ranford? He’s handsome and rich. There’s no reason not to marry him.
“You detest him for his filthy past, but I don’t mind it at all.
“You despise him for his previous marriage, but I don’t mind it either.
“Your precious daughter refuses to marry him, well, I’ll do it!”
