Chapter 7

Julian had been living in Ranford Mansion since returning to the country.

All staff in Ranford Mansion got the news that Mrs. Alexandra would dine here tonight.

The maids could not help gossiping about Mrs. Alexandra between the dinner preparations.

“Have you heard of it? Mrs. Alexandra comes from the respectable Doherty family. And she is a famous and gorgeous pianist. I wonder why she agreed to marry Master Julian.”

“I agree! Master Julian is capable, but it is known to all that his ex-wife in Adanrica was abused to death by him, and his…”

“Shh! Don’t mention that! Mrs. Josephine will fire you if she hears it!”

“But honestly, if Mrs. Alexandra were my daughter, I wouldn’t have allowed her to marry Master Julian even if he owns grea wealth!”

“If Mrs. Alexandra were your daughter, Master Julian wouldn’t necessarily take a fancy to her!”

All of a sudden, a firm and stern voice rang out, “What are you muttering? Keep up the work.”

The two maids turned around and found it was Ruth Rivera, Mrs. Josephine’s maid-in-waiting and assistant executive housekeeper of the Ranford family.

Around 60 years old, Ruth was slightly chubby with a round face and easy-going nature.

She was a widow.

Her husband died in a workplace accident over a decade ago, leaving her and her children. Over these years, Ruth had cared for Mrs. Josephine respectfully and faithfully. Everyone in the mansion spoke highly of her.

The maids hurriedly fell silent.

One of the older maids explained with an embarrassed smile, “Ms. Rivera, we are just chit-chatting to refresh ourselves during the busy work!”

The other one nodded repeatedly.

Although Ruth hadn’t heard what the maids had been chatting about, she could imagine them detailing someone’s private life. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FɪndNøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

And she understood the difficulty of shutting others’ mouths.

Affluent families were always complicated. It was common for Insiders to gossip about the inside information.

Having spent much time with Mrs. Josephine, Ruth grew more generous and tolerant. Thinking of it, she decided to let it go. She simply waved her hand and said sternly, “It doesn’t matter to have me hear these words, but I am not sure what will happen if they reach the matriarch’s ears”

The older maid nodded hastily and was about to answer Ruth when she caught sight of Julian approaching. She promptly lowered her head and greeted Julian respectfully, “Master Julian!”

Ruth also turned her head and saw Julian approaching them with his jacket on his arm. There was a bounce to his step.

Ruth came forward and said smilingly, “Master Julian, dinner is almost ready, and Mrs. Josephine just advised you to make yourself presentable to leave a good impression on your future wife,”

Like a kind elder, Ruth slightly moved up the corners of her mouth while speaking to Julian

The older maid echoed, “Ms. Rivera, you must be kidding. Master Julian is such a man of striking appearancel He is handsome enough to captivate thousands of young ladies without dressing up!”

Other maids around burst into chuckles. Julian nodded lightly and answered coolly, “I will go meet my grandma first.”

When Julian came knocking on the door, Mrs. Josephine was sitting in a rocking chair on the balcony, looking through a photo album.

At the sight of Julian, she showed a smile and slowly put down her photo album and presbyopic glasses.

Born into a famous family, Josephine was a paragon of elegant and rich wives in Sioux City.

In her seventies, she was snowy-haired.

But she appeared more than ten years younger than her peers, with a gentle and elegant demeanor.

“Grandma.

Julian, are you busy with your work today?” Although Josephine hadn’t managed the Ranford Group before, she’d imbibed the difficulty of running a large company.

Especially in recent years, the Ranford Group faced countless setbacks, Josephine witnessed the hardship and bore it in mind.

Julian approached Josephine and said smilingly. T’m fine, not that busy.”

Josephine could tell his tiredness from the corner of his eyes, but she did not expose the lie. She nodded composedly and

“You are right, Grandma,” replied Julian.

Speaking of this, Josephine suddenly lowered her head with a gloomy expression as if she thought of something terrible. And then, she landed her eyes on her strong and tall grandson with complicated feelings in her eyes.

Josephine sighed and spoke slowly, “Please don’t blame me. Others say I ask you to get married now because I want to make your dad lucky and slowly recover. But I also worry that your dad cannot get through the clifficulty this time. I hope that you can have your wedding when your dad is alive. Otherwise, after your father… you will perhaps feel desolate when getting married.” Josephine looked away and spoke her profundities in a gentle tone. Julian could clearly feel her sincerity and love

for him

Julian walked over, squatted before Mrs. Josephine, and gently held her skinny hand on the blanket covering her knee. He then answered with a determined look, “Grandma, I understand everything I will never blame you, and I don’t feel aggrieved at all. Dad will be fine. He will get better. I will definitely find Dr. Ace Fulton and have him treat Dad”

“Julian.” Josephine said at the thought of her gravely-ill son, tears welling up in her eyes, “But don’t worry, I have asked someone to investigate the lady you are going to marry. The Doherty family’s daughter is a nice girl. She won an international award in recent days. I have seen her photos. She is quite a beautiful girl. You are very well-matched. When I was young. I also liked playing the piano the most. Girls who do well in playing the piano are usually kind and down-to- earth. I believe you will get along well with each other after marriage.”

The consensus on cooperation with Alexandra had been reached before Julian could speak face-to-face with Josephine. It was in time to see his grandma and explain what had happened before the dinner party started.

Otherwise, Julian was afraid that Josephine would not forgive him on such a serious matter of prime importance.

“Grandma, I have something to tell you…”

“What is it?” Josephine asked softly.

Julian held Josephine’s dry hand and answered, “The person I want to marry is not the pianist Veronica Doherty. I want to marry Alexandra Doherty, the biological daughter of Mr. Peter Doherty. Veronica is actually Mr. Peter Doherty’s adopted

<

daughter.”

Hearing it. Josephine was dumbfounded.

“What…”

Josephine, Alex is a nice girl. I’ve met her several times. If you see her later, you will definitely like her.”

Josephine was in a daze. She had looked forward to Julian’s marriage with the pianist Miss Veronica Doherty,

But now her dream had been broken even before she met Veronica.

“Mrs. Josephine, our future Mrs. Alexandra has come!”

The door of Josephine’s bedroom was unlocked. Ruth knocked directly on the door and said loudly.

When Julian and Josephine walked downstairs, they met Mrs. Caroline, who had finished dressing up and come out of her bedroom.

Mrs. Caroline was Philip Ranford’s wife.

She was in a traditional navy blue dress. Remarkably well-preserved and posh, she looked about forty…

Mrs. Caroline came forward, and her eyes swept over Julian and Josephine. “Mom, you seem excited to see Jule’s future wife. We all know you are fond of playing the piano. You must be happy to have a pianist to be your granddaughter-in-law.”

Josephine’s face turned sullen. Seeing it, Julian was helpless with guilt and uneasiness.

He reached out, about to help Josephine, but the latter darted a cold stare at her and avoided his hand.

At this moment, maids crowded around some people, and they walked into the hall together.

Julian saw Alexandra at first glance.
