The vortex spat Gallahon and the others onto the soft, hot sand. Before he could get back up, the vortex had disappeared. They were abounded in the hot desert. Gallahon kicked the sand below him and let out a shout. He got on his knees and pounded his fist into the soft sand.

“He was right there.” he said. “He was right in front of me and I blew it! And now because of me, we’re in the middle of this damned desert!” The elf girl walked up beside him. She kneeled so she could have a better look at his face.

“Don’t beat up on yourself. You did the best you could.”

“But it wasn’t enough.” he said in an angry tone. Gallahon got up from the ground and started walking.

“Where are you going?” the elf girl asked.

“I don’t know. But I don’t plan on just staying in one spot. I’m going to try to find a way out of this desert.”

“Out?” interrupted Trenton. “Look around you Gallahon. We’re in the middle of nowhere! Who knows where the nearest village is. Hell, who knows if there’s anything out here!”

“Okay, just calm down.” said Nina.

“Don’t tell me to calm down.”

“Let’s just start walking.” Gallahon spoke.

“Where are we going to go Gallahon? In case you haven’t noticed, there’s nowhere to walk to! We might as well just sit here and die.”

“Get a hold of yourself man. I’m going on ahead. You all can stay here if you want. But I’m not taking my chances and becoming buzzard food.” Gallahon scouted on ahead. The others didn’t want to stay behind so they followed him.

As they were walking through the hot desert, the elf girl walked up beside Gallahon just to talk. Gallahon saw she had walked up to him.

“I just want to thank you again for helping us back on Windfall.” said he.

“You’re welcome.”

“You never told me your name.”

“Oh. It’s Aquanna. Aquanna Waters.” The elf girl had told him with sparkles in her eyes. “I never quite met a boy like you. You’re so courageous to stand up against the king like that. You’re so brave. Others tried to stand against King Erloc. But they all failed.”

“As soon as we get back to Windfall, King Erloc would wish that he never met me. He will pay for this. I swear it.”

“Your name is Gallahon Darkoss, the son of General Darkoss, right?” Gallahon looked at her with a suspicious look on his face.

“Yes. You knew him?”

“He saved me and my people when I was three years-old. Your father was a true hero.”

“I never knew my father. He left for war when I was born.”

“I’m sorry.” Trenton was falling behind. The intense heat was beating down on him.

“This sucks….” he said. “We’ve got no water. The sun is burning me. And, I think I’ve got sand in my ear.” He said as he was slapping his ear to try to get the sand out of his canal. They’ve walked for miles in the intense heat. Trenton stopped in front of a cactus.

“Hey Aquanna. Isn’t there like supposed to be water in cactuses ’?”

“Yeah.” replied she. Trenton pulled out one of his katana’s and chopped off the top of the plant. “Trenton, I wouldn’t…” She spoke too late. For Trenton had already consumed the cactus water. The pupils in his eyes widen. He was hallucinating from the cactus’ juice.

“Hey Gallahon. When did you get so short?” He asked. The juice from the cactus was making him see things.

“Let’s just move on.” said Gallahon. Gallahon and the other’s walked for miles until at last, they collapsed.

“This is nice.” said Trenton, still hallucinating. “Let’s just lie here and make friends with those birds, circling in the sky.” Trenton turned his head to Nina. “You’ve got a big head.” She said nothing. Just looked at him with a blank stare. Just as they almost lost hope, a group of riders on camel came over the horizon. They saw Gallahon and the others lying on the sand and decided to help them. They took their unconscious bodies to the nearest oasis which had a small village next to it.

The mysterious riders had got them into the village and nursed them back to health. As Gallahon was lying in a bed, still unconscious, he entered into a dream. He dreamt of the battle that took place back on Windfall years ago when his father was slayed by King Erloc himself.

“I’ll see you in Hell Erloc!”

“I don’t think so. I’m staying right here. I’m sending you to Hell. Tell the devil I said hi.” King Erloc had stabbed him with his own sword and that’s when Gallahon woke up, screaming in agony. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Are you alright?” said a girl. It was not Aquanna or Nina. This girl had long black hair, which was in a ponytail and her skin was kind of a golden brown texture. She was an Egyptian wearing a see-through cloth on her chest with one long scarf attached to it. She had two more scarves attached to her waist with baggy sand colored pants.

“I think I’m alright. Who are you? Where are my friends?”

“Relax. My name is Tikal Scythe. Your friends are safe, don’t worry. I and some other riders found you in the middle of the desert. We carried you to our village. What are you doing all the way out here anyway?”

“King Erloc banished us here.” said Gallahon. “If only I had struck him down, we wouldn’t be out here.”

“King Erloc. I know that name…. A long time ago, during a great war, my father fought alongside him. My father was second in command of Erloc’s army. My father was once a king of this land. He was a greedy man. He only cared about riches and power. He became so obsessed with obtaining power that King Erloc feared that he would use that power and betray him. And so, King Erloc had him executed.”

“I’m sorry….”

“But now that my father is dead, his ghost came back. His ghost was so full of rage, he started killing this village.”

“Oh. I….” Just before Gallahon could finish his sentence, the ground started to shake beneath their feet. Gallahon thought it was an earthquake, but Tikal knew exactly what it was.

“No. It can’t be. Not now….”

“What?” Tikal raced towards the window. Gallahon followed her to the window. Out the window, was a tall, monstrous king cobra.

“Did I mention my father controls a giant snake?”

“Um…. No. You failed to mention that. Why snakes?”

“I take it you don’t like them.”

“I hate them.” The monstrous snake was terrorizing the whole village. Trenton, Aquanna and Nina rushed out the door of another building across from where Gallahon and Tikal were.

“HOLY GEEZ! Is that what I think it is or am I still hallucinating?” Trenton asked. Gallahon grabbed his weapons and leaped out the window to join the others.

“Let’s just kill it quickly and be done with it.” He commanded. The giant snake saw Gallahon and lunged at him with his jaw wide opened. He steps aside, slashing the snake’s cheek while it was still sliding on the ground. It barley felt the cut. As its fangs bury in the ground, Trenton rushed towards the snake and jumped off of its head into the air. And like magic, he managed to summon two shadow-like energy balls in his hands and threw them at the beast. Aquanna used her power to summon water from a near-by fountain and whipped the creature across the face with the water. The monstrous snake ripped it’s fangs out of the ground.

It lunged again, this time at Aquanna. She jumped aside and the snake crashed through the fountain behind her. It turned to face them. Gallahon rushed towards it with his sword. He jumped up towards it, but the snake whacked him with its tail, causing him to fly back into a building. Nina rushed over to the snake with a hidden sword she kept in her sleeve. The snake swung its tail at her but Nina jumped over its tail. Nina gave the snake a nice cut across its belly. Gallahon looked up in the sky and saw a man with a head piece representing that of a Pharaoh. It was King Scythe himself. As King Scythe looked to Gallahon, Gallahon noticed that King Scythe had a third eye on his fore-head. Because of that eye, the villager’s had another name for him. They call him Pyramid-Eye. He floated down to Gallahon.

“So General Darkoss had a son?” said he.

“You knew my father too?” Pyramid-Eye said nothing. He rushed towards Gallahon in attempt of punching him. Gallahon quickly moved out of the way and Pyramid-Eye’s fist went right through the wall of the building. He yanked his fist out of the wall. Gallahon stood there in amazement. Pyramid-Eye raised his hand and like magic, a weapon that appeared to be a scythe appeared in his hand. Pyramid-Eye held the scythe with both hands as he rushed towards Gallahon, attempting to chop him up into pieces. Gallahon leaped back. As Pyramid-Eye swung again, Gallahon blocked with his sword.

As Gallahon was busy fighting Pyramid-Eye, the other three were fighting the monstrous snake. As the snake lunged at Aquanna, Trenton got in front of her and blew the monster back with a massive blast of energy. The monster fell down onto the sandy ground. As Trenton leaped towards it with the attempt of finishing it, the monster somehow morphed itself like magic. It had taking the form of a scorpion and quickly grabbed Trenton with its massive claws. It threw Trenton on the ground. It threw down its stinger at Trenton, but Trenton rolled aside, missing the stinger.

“That thing can shape-shift?” he asked himself in amazement. Trenton quickly realized what the monster actually was. For he had fought one like it before. It had clawed towards Aquanna and threw down its stinger at her. Aquanna jumped out of its way as the stinger plunged into the sands. Nina managed to slice one of its legs. It threw down its stinger at Nina, but she quickly moved, cutting its other leg. The scorpion turned around and grabbed Nina with its claw. It flung her in the air. Nina came back down with her blade, plunging it into the scorpion’s head. Nina leaped off its head with the sword still in its head. Trenton rushed over to the scorpion. He jumped up, grabbing its tail. He plunged the scorpion’s stinger into its back, killing it. As the scorpion lied on the ground dead, Nina pulled her sword from the scorpion’s head.

Pyramid-Eye had pushed Gallahon with massive force with one hand, sending him flying through the air. Gallahon had landed on his back onto the sandy ground. Pyramid-Eye walked up to Gallahon with scythe in hand and a sinister smile.

“This is the son of a fallen’ hero. Ha! Even your father put up more of a fight.” Pyramid-Eye looked up and saw Tikal looking down from a window. He levitated himself to the window to meet Tikal face-to-face. He grabbed Tikal by the arm and then they both just disappeared. Trenton and the other’s rushed towards Gallahon. Gallahon was covered with bruises. Aquanna reached for Gallahon to help him up.

“Thanks.” he said.

“Good news Gallahon. The monster’s dead. Bad news. Tikal is gone.”

“We got to go after her then. Come on.” As Gallahon, Nina and Aquanna started to make their way out of the village, Trenton paused for a moment.

“That monster…. What is it?”
