Chapter 6 - A First Day To Remember

"Alex, wake up" a voice whispered that belonged to non other than Hermoine "come on, wake up" she spoke again as she nudged my side

"just one more minute" i replied half a sleep

"but if professor McGonagall caught you sleeping in class you'll be in trouble" she half whispered , half shouted and yeah i was sleeping in my first class what can i say that what you get when a not morning person goes to bed late before their first school day , not the best idea by the way especially when you are going to sit beside some one as pushy as Hermione

don't get me wrong i love Hermione but some times she could be quite annoying

"Mrs Miller" my eyes snapped open immediately on hearing those words "i Hope we aren't bothering your little Nap" professor McGonagall said as she gave me a stern look

"not at all professor i was just getting up" i replied giving her the most innocent smile i could manage

"well then would you mind reminding me what i was just saying?"

"of course not , you were asking if you were bothering me during my little Nap" i answered innocently causing the whole class to burst out in laughs ,but received a glare from her , you see as welcoming and kind heart-ed person as McGonagall appeared yesterday , she was a very stern woman who was respected by almost everyone and even feared by some, but i couldn't help but tease her it was just so fun

"very funny , Mrs. Miller , but you should know better than try and be funny with me " she then turned to the whole class as she went on "Anyone messing around in my class will leave and not come back. so consider this as your first and final warning" she spoke the last part as she glanced at me

"am i clear?" she questioned this time her attention directed to me

" Crystal" i said and smiled at her , only for her to roll her eyes

"so as i was saying Transfiguration is some of the most complex and dangerous magic you will learn at Hogwarts " she explained more about the subject the ordered us to copy down the notes that was already written on the board behind her, then to our great surprise she transformed into a cat and sat on her desk watching us

after a couple of minutes later the door was burst open , causing all of the students heads including Hermione's and mine to snap to the door , i was surprised to see Harry and Ron rushing in, as it was only then when i noticed they weren't already here , Hermione on the other hand seemed unfazed as she simply shook her head and turned back to copying the notes

"Whew, amazing, can you imagine the look on old McGonagall's face if we were late?" Ron said as they reached the front of the class , i wanted so much to warn them , but it would be funny to see their reactions

on that thought McGonagall jumped off the desk and turned back to her normal human form , it was bloody wicked and you know what made it even better

the shocked expression covering both Harry's and Ron's Faces and how their mouths hanged open

"That was bloody brilliant." Ron exclaimed probably trying to not get in trouble

"Thank you for that assessment, Mr. Weasley. Maybe if I were to transfigure Mr. Potter and yourself into a pocket watch, maybe one of you would be on time" she yelled and i struggled to hold back a laugh

"We got lost" Harry said looking down

"Then perhaps a map? I trust you don't need one to find your seats" she exclaimed , Then Harry and Ron took their seats behind us

after Transfiguration was over also it wasn't the best ending but let's not get into details, anyway we had a couple more classes including Defense Against the Dark Arts the class that most of the students were looking forward, but not me

back to the point Quirrell’s lessons turned out to be a bit of a joke. His classroom smelled strongly of garlic, which everyone said was because of some kind of a long story that i didn't even bother listening to

but the best part that i was very relieved to find out that i wasn’t miles behind everyone else. seeing as Lots of people had come from Muggle families too and, like me, hadn’t had any idea that they were witches and wizards.

There was so much to learn that even people like Ron or better yet Malfoy didn’t have much of a head start

Cedric exclaimed his eyes wide open probably in shock , but there was still a smile playing on his lips which made him seem almost impressed , we both had a free period so we were sitting in the main hall discussing how our first day was going till now , there wasn't many students there so no one noticed that i was sitting at the Hufflebuff table

" why did you just assume i did it?" i questioned acting innocent

"seriously , come on who else would dare turn McGonagall's desk into a needle?" he raised his brow at me and i couldn't help but laugh , it was so funny and the look on her face , it was priceless and what made it even better was the fact she couldn't tell who did it

" well you got a point there"

"so why did you do it?" he said still laughing

" well it was funny and the look on her face was priceless" i explained simply and we bursted out in laughs

"and what did she do when she caught you?" he asked between laughs

"she didn't, let's just say when everyone except Hermione failed to change their matches into needles she couldn't tell who actually did it and she knew it would never be Hermione conssidering how she is a miss to goody shoes" i was still laughing as i explained

" you know if she ever find out you will be in deep trouble" he said after we were finally done laughing

"well let's hope she never finds out" i said , before standing up " anyway i should get going i wouldn't like to be late to potions , see ya"

"well good luck with Snape and don't do anything stupid" he called behind me

" no promises" i said turning to him , but still kept walking

i had just made it to class and seeing as i was almost he last one there , i didn't find any empty seats except for one, which was right behind Malfoy , lucky me , Note the sarcasm

the class was filled with the chattering of the students but about a minute later The door slammed open and Snape came rushing in , causing the class to fall into uncomfortable silence

" There will be no foolish wand waving or silly incantations in this class" he sneered watching everyone in class but his eyes locked with mine the longest

"As such, I don't expect many of you to enjoy the subtle science and exact art that is potion making. However, for those select few" he glanced at Draco then continued "who possess the predisposition, I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory and even put a stopper in death"

his gaze then moved and i followed it to see him staring at Harry who was writing this down, in, his view, not paying attention "Then again, maybe some of you have come to Hogwarts in possession of abilities so formidable that you feel confidant enough to not...pay...attention."

Hermione nudged Harry in the ribs and he looked up to finally notice Snape who was eyeing him

"Mr. Potter. Our...new...celebrity. Tell me, what would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood? " Hermione’s hand had shot into the air almost immediately , but on the other hand Harry seemed clueless so he looked at her , then simply shook his head

"You don't know? Well, let's try again. "oh and clearly Hermione knew all along so it was a pity no to ask her at first place at that his look changed into a glare and he took a few steps towards me

"i don't remember asking you either" he asked in a low monotone , but it didn't effect me the least

" well i answered anyway, what are you gonna do about it?" i said copying his tone

we post kept staring at one another and the silence filled the room until he spoke "well ... why aren't everyone copying this down and almost immediately There was a sudden rummaging for quills and parchment and Snape made his way back to his desk

"Gryffindore , note five points will be taken from your house for classmate's cheek as well as another five points as a reminder to Mrs. Miller ,that she shouldn't talk out of place especially inside class" he said then wrote something down

the slytherin looked at me and Harry with smirks on their faces but i didn't pay them much attention as i was looking at Snape with anger i didn't even imagine i could have but i also noticed Harry who was looking at him with loath...
