Chapter 27

After getting little to no sleep, coronation day was here. I got up and got dressed... well people came and helped me get ready and dressed. I was put in a beautiful, regal, golden dress and my hair was up in low bun. I was as ready as I would ever be. Afraid that this was going to end badly one day, but I had no choice but to go through with it. The ceremony took place; Nikki walked me through everything, and afterwards I got the joy of everyone telling me how much I look like a younger version of my mother. Not what I was wanting to hear of course. Eventually the throne room cleared up and I was left on the throne, until Trey walked in.

“You look so much...”

I cut him off. “Yes, I know. Everyone keeps telling me I look so much like my mother.”

“Well I was going to say you look so much better than her, but I guess if you want to sell yourself short go on ahead.”

I got up off the throne and walked towards him. I glanced at his bandaged arm. “I am glad your arm is better. I tried to visit you the past few days, but they wouldn’t let me.”

“I know. I didn’t want to make this day any harder on you.”

“Why would me seeing you affect my coronation day?”

“I am leaving, Alice.”

“Please don’t...” I said as I felt my eyes beginning to well up.

“Alice, this will be better and easier for both of us. Besides your mom was right about me, I don’t belong in a castle.” he said with a faint smile and caressed my cheek with his hand. “You belong here.”

I shook my head. “No, she is a liar! I belong with you.”

He moved his other hand behind my back and pulled me into a passionate kiss. We stayed like that for a little while. After the kiss, he pulled me into him and put my head in his chest. I couldn’t stop the tears from pouring out the moment my head went into his chest. I hoped this meant he was going to stay, but deep down I knew he wasn’t going to stay.

“I am sorry, Alice. You will find someone better than me.” He said as he pulled away. He quickly backed away and went through a portal before I could stop him.

I fell to my knees and continued to cry. Ace rushed in and pulled me up and into his arms. He knew what happened and was apparently listening in. He comforted me.

“Ace, I don’t want the throne.” I sobbed. He just silently patted my back and let me vent and let it all out. “Help me find him. I don’t want to be without him.”

“I’m begging you! Please help me!” I said while pulling away. I fell to my knees not realizing that he was the only thing holding me up. “I need him.”

Ace picked me up and carried me out of the throne room and to my room. Once there he placed me on my bed and then shut the door. “I cannot do that. You have a country to rule.”

“Why does it have to be me?” I said sobbing still.

“Somethings we don’t get to choose. Sometimes it is just thrusted upon us to deal with. I will get you whatever you like, but I am sorry, I can’t take you to him.”

“Then bring him here!”

“That would be against his wishes and I promised I would not go after him for you.”

I almost slapped him across the face but caught myself two inches from his face when I realized it is not his fault. “I’m sorry...” I said while dropping my arm. “I-I am going to take a bath to clear my head.”

“I will have the maid draw you a bath and get you when it is ready.” He said giving me a comforting pat on the back. “If you need anything else. Do not hesitate to get me. I am here for you.” I nodded and then he lightly kissed my forehead and left.

I opened a portal back to my room at Grandpa Harrison’s and grabbed Jay’s compass from the drawer and swiftly came back before anyone noticed. I opened it up and saw the compass spinning rapidly around in circles. He left this dimension.

I closed it and sat it on the end table right when I heard a quiet knock on my door. I got up and answered it. It was the maid for my bath.
