Chapter 491
“Those we’ve already met were easy–peasy, those outside have got to wait a bit!”
With these words from Attlee, Yolanda perked up, feeling there was some sense in what he said.
But they were so far from the front that Olga was mulling over how to get chummy with those loaded ladies up there.
Suddenly, Yolanda piped up, “Mom, Dad, check it out, it’s Arabella!”
Arabella and a guy were strolling by, hand in hand.
Due to the fleeting moment, Attlee and Olga only caught a glimpse of their backs.
Yolanda clapped a hand over her mouth, gabbing after a while, “It’s that guy from last time!‘
“Which one?” Olga was clueless about her ramblings.
“Last time at Dawn Restaurant, I saw sis with this guy!”
But last time, Yolanda just speculated that this dude was loaded; she didn’t expect him to be so rich that he could attend this auction!
This meant he was at least a big shot in these top conglomerates. So young and already a high–flier.
Yolanda was green with envy and couldn’t figure out how Arabella managed to snag such a wealthy, young, and handsome catch.
“At Dawn Restaurant? I didn’t see. ” Olga didn’t know who she meant, but looking at the guy’s back, she thought, “He seems young; I wonder which company he’s from. I didn’t expect that little girl to have a boyfriend so soon!”
“She’s the founder of QY; it’s only normal that she finds a boyfriend of the same social standing, right? Besides, it’s not weird for her to date at this age; even Yoli is engaged!”
Hearing Attlee say this, Olga reminded her, “Yoli, remember this: if you find someone better, ditch Zachary ASAP, preferably before your engagement party.”
“Mom, don’t worry, I got this.” Yolanda, still staring at the guy’s back, exclaimed again, “Mom, look, that guy and Arabella’s seats are right in the first row, smack in the middle!”
The ones sitting with them were big shots like Kenneth, Louisa, and Hans. People they wanted to suck up to but couldn’t!
And they were all sitting with Arabella!
“Yoli, don’t sweat it; once we win the land today, we’ll snag those seats in the future!”
Hearing her mom’s words, Yolanda felt better. Yeah, just win the land today, and they, the Murphy family, would be back in the game!
“But mom, where are we staying tonight? Still at the hotel?” Yolanda asked in a whisper when no one was around, “We’ve sold our last home too.”
“As long as we win the land today, why worry about a place to live? Worst comes to worst, we’ll move in with the old lady; she still owns a few properties; I remember there’s a villa in the suburbs.”
Yolanda felt reassured, as long as they had a place to stay. The only thing worth mentioning they owned now was the Maybach.
Everything else was sold off! Even the jewelry was gone!
The only things left were the clothes they were going to wear for the engagement party; nothing else was left.

After a while, Yolanda finally noticed something off. “Mom, look at their clothes.”
Everyone was dressed to the nines; even Arabella was in a light pink suit, her hair pulled up high, and she radiated a cool yet aloof aura.
They, on the other hand, seemed to be misfits.
“Did we wear the wrong clothes?” Yolanda felt uncomfortable in her dress, and it finally clicked why they received puzzled and annoyed looks at the
entrance.
It turned out they were dressed inappropriately!
Olga realized it too and felt a tad embarrassed. They had never been to a land auction before and had no clue about the dress code.
Attlee tried to comfort them, saying, “Even if we did dress wrongly, it’s no biggie. People will only care about who bags the land, not what you’re wearing.” Romeo and Arabella sat side by side in the front row, their hands tightly clasped. Hans, sitting next to them, said coldly, “Keep some distance.”
The AC is too cold; I’m just trying to warm Arabella’s hands. I’ll let go soon.”
On hearing Romeo, Hans turned to Arabella and asked, “Are you cold?”
“Um–hmm.” Arabella could only nod in agreement.
Hans took off his coat and gently laid it on Arabella’s lap, saying, “Wrap this around you. I’ll get someone to turn up the heat.”
“No need.” Arabella didn’t finish her sentence before Hans was already speaking to a staff member.
“Your high ponytail looks great.” Romeo brushed a strand of hair from Arabella’s forehead, admiring her delicate features, and gently said, “You look good in a suit too.”
“You look good today too.” Arabella looked into his eyes and said softly, “I’ll give you that piece of land later.”
“Give it to me?“,
“Mmm–hmm.” Arabella raised an eyebrow and asked, “Don’t you want to build a Ferris wheel and a shopping street?”
Romeo was surprised that she knew about his plans.
He had planned to give it to her once it was built. He had already thought of a name.
But Arabella didn’t know about his intentions; she thought he was interested in the commercial value of the land. “Anyway, since someone is paying for most of it, I’m just regifting it to you. But it’ll take some time.”
“That’s nice. You always think of me.” Romeo leaned in closer, his breath brushing against her ear.
Just as Hans finished talking to the staff, he turned around to see them whispering again, leaving him puzzled.
Everyone around them was shocked to see their intimate behavior and stared in disbelief.
This was the first time they saw Romeo whispering sweet nothings to a girl in public.
Especially to a girl who seemed to be barely out of high school.
Who the hell was she that Romeo was so smitten? Can they share the secret?
Yolanda, sitting in the last row, felt a pang of jealousy seeing Romeo always leaning in to whisper something to Arabella. She couldn’t help but wonder why he was so nice to Arabella!
They always seemed to have a lot to talk about and share. They looked like a couple in love!
No wonder Arabella was not interested in Zachary; she had already found a better choice.
Before the auction even began, representatives from various groups got up to greet Romeo, the Kenneths, and Hans in the front row.
Olga noticed Arabella leaving her seat and wondered where she was going. Shortly after, Romeo followed her.
Seeing Arabella’s seat empty, Olga quickly took the opportunity to sit next to Louisa and said, “Hello, Mrs. Collins, we meet again. You remember me, right? I’m Attlee’s wife, Olga.”
Louisa was chatting with a few ladies when she saw Olga sitting in her daughter’s seat and felt immediately annoyed. “Who gave you permission to sit here?”

“Chat about what? Mrs. Collins doesn’t even know you. Who do you think you are, trying to cozy up to her?”
“Exactly! There are many people who want to suck up to Mrs. Collins, but you’re the first one who’s so shameless!”
“Why are you still here? Where did this nobody even come from? Just because you walked through the door, do you think you’re entitled to talk to Mis.

Louisa gestured for them to stop the premature congratulations, as she had no interest in the land and would definitely not buy it, which would mess up her daughter’s plans.

At first, everyone was all gung–ho about bidding until the price skyrocketed to eight hundred million dollars, and then the bidders started to thin out.
Arabella was still going at it, McMillan Corporation wasn’t backing down, and the Collins group was hot on their heels.
Attlee was wiping the sweat off his brow, his hand shaking. Each time he raised his paddle, he could feel his heart pounding in his chest.

Olga was on pins and needles: “How are they bidding so fiercely? What are we going to do now? All of our funds combined are just 1.2 billion dollars. If this keeps up, they might snatch this land right from under our noses!”

“Dad, bid! Quick!” Yolanda, seeing her father’s face turn pale and his forehead slick with sweat, hurriedly prodded him. “We still have a shot, dad. Bid! Can you hear me? Dad!!”

Attlee finally snapped back to reality, raising his hand.
The auctioneer saw him and cried out, “1.1 billion! The gentleman at the back bids 1.1 billion.”

The room was buzzing. Everyone was curious which group could afford such a sky–high price. They all looked towards the last row at the edge, where someone had raised a sign.
“Which group is it? So loaded?”
“They’ll have to pay in cash later. You can’t mortgage real estate. Which group has so much cash on hand?”
“Why haven’t we seen them before? And why are they seated so far back? Can they really afford this?”
Hearing the whispers around her, Olga sat up straight. Today, she was going to show everyone the strength of the Murphy Group!
“I won’t bid anymore.” Hans whispered to Romeo beside him, “Your turn.”
Romeo raised his sign, stunning the room once again.
“1.15 billion! McMillan Corporation bids 1.15 billion!”
Yolanda was so taken aback that she was at a loss for words.
So that handsome man was a bigwig from the McMillan Corporation!
She finally knew his identity, but at this point, the Murphy family was running low on funds!
“What do we do? We only have 1.2 billion.” Olga did the math, but she didn’t expect the McMillan Corporation to be so relentless. Now, only the McMillan Corporation and the Murphy Group were left in the running!

Attlee snapped back to reality and, along with Olga and Yolanda, scanned the room anxiously. To their surprise, no one else was bidding! Even the McMillan Corporation had given up!
“Who would dare to go against the McMillan Corporation? This is unbelievable.”
“The thing is, it looks like they’re about to win.”
“QY, the Collins group, and McMillan Corporation all gave up. This group is insane. What’s their name? They managed to hang in there till the end.” “1.2 billion for the first time.”
“1.2 billion for the second time.”
“1.2 billion for the third time, Sold!”
The auctioneer quickly banged the gavel, announcing with an ecstatic voice, “Let’s give a big round of applause to the gentleman at the back who’s successfully won the land bid! I hereby declare the auction a success! Could the gentleman please come forward? We need to sign the contract.”
“We did it; we’ve won!” Yolanda cried out, feeling a bit dreamlike, and hugged her mother tightly.
Tears welled up in Olga’s eyes. “We actually won! We beat QY, the Collins Group, and McMillan Corporation! We got the land!”
Was she dreaming? This felt too surreal!
“Attlee!” Olga couldn’t resist hugging Attlee. The family of three hugged together. –

The ladies couldn’t stop singing Louisa’s praises.
In the midst of the excitement, Yolanda noticed Arabella sneaking off to the restroom with some guy. She couldn’t help but smirk, quickly got up, and followed them

“Bet you didn’t see the Murphys snagging that piece of land, did you?”
Yolanda strutted over, chin held high and eyes full of disdain. “I saw you drooling over that plot. Why don’t you get down on your knees and beg me for it? I could put in a good word with my dad, and he might even give you a discount.”
“Are you off your rocker again? Shouldn’t you be at your shrink’s office instead of causing a ruckus here?” Arabella rolled her eyes at her and was about to leave. “Arabella! You lowlife, even if you did set up QY, you’re still nothing but trash! You can’t hide your low–born blood! Who are you trying to fool with that icy facade of yours? That guy must be blind to fall for you! I can’t even imagine what kind of pitiful family could spawn something like you! You make me sick! Absolutely sick!” Arabella: ???
Yolanda saw the handsome man still waiting outside and decided to push her luck. “You’re just as useless as that old man in the hospital, wasting oxygen. You should’ve been pushing up daisies long ago.”

Arabella’s eyes turned icy cold, and she marched towards Yolanda.
Yolanda smirked, grabbed some water from the faucet to splash at Arabella, then bolted out of the restroom, making a show of messing up her hair as if she had been attacked.
Think he can run?
Arabella moved quickly, catching Yolanda and slamming her against the wall, landing a solid slap across her face.
The force of the slap knocked Yolanda off balance.
“Ahh.” Yolanda’s plan was going perfectly.
All she had to do was lean into that guy, and he’d instinctively catch her. That would make her plan half successful!
But she never expected that Romeo would pretend not to see her and instead walk towards Arabella, asking, “What’s the matter?”
“None of your business.”
Arabella turned to Yolanda, her icy eyes blazing with anger, grabbed Yolanda by the throat, and pinned her against the wall. “Who’s the old man? Say it again!” “Sis, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I can’t breathe. Let go. Help.” Yolanda put on a show of being in extreme pain.
“Arabella, what the hell are you doing?” Olga yelled, rushing over.
The entire venue was drawn to the spectacle.
Seeing Olga charging towards Arabella, apparently ready to give her a piece of her mind, Louisa quickly weaved through the crowd to step in.
“You’re trying to provoke me? Who’s your audience?” Arabella tightened her grip. “You think I won’t strangle you right here and now?”
“Arabella!” Olga stormed over, only to be blocked by a handsome figure.

She looked up, her face filled with shock. “Is that Mr. McMillan?”
The youngest ever CEO of McMillan Corporation and the world’s richest man? Why would he get involved with this?
“Didn’t you see my fiancée teaching someone a lesson?”
The icy–cold voice shocked Olga; she couldn’t believe what she was hearing. What did he mean?
Fiancée? Arabella was Romeo’s fiancée? How could this be possible?
She suddenly felt weak in the knees, almost collapsing on the spot.
Even Attlee, who had rushed over, was extremely shocked and in disbelief. Did he just hear what Romeo said? Arabella was his fiancée?
“Who were you cursing at just now? Cat got your tongue? Nothing to say now?” Arabella increased her grip, her body radiating a terrifying aura. Those cold eyes seemed ready to swallow up the joker in front of her.

Attlee, Olga, and Yolanda felt like they were slapped right across the faces.
