Chapter 55
Jacques, Bili and Theo listened to what I had proposed and thought on it for a few minutes.
“I don’t like it.” Theo said.
I could tell by the way he said it that it wasn’t the plan itself he didn’t like, but the risk involved.
“What choice do we have? It’s just us now and we don’t even know who is truly pulling the strings. This will be the quickest way to get from point A to point B. Steve believed that whoever was behind this was very tech savvy and has probably been monitoring us this whole time. This would explain why they have been one step ahead us. We can use this to our advantage.”
The truth in what I was saying struck a chord. It was obvious that the enemy had the drop on us at every turn and we were chasing our tails.
“What you are proposing would require a large group in order to do it properly. Even then...” Theo said shaking his head slowly.
“What if you are wrong and they no longer want you alive, then what?” Bili added
“Then I’m screwed I guess. Anyone else have a better idea?”
The silence said it all. Though it did have a risk factor no one was comfortable with, least of all me, it had merit.
“There is one problem with your plan.” Bili said.
“What’s that?” I asked.
“You never go anywhere alone now. If you do they will become suspicious.”
She was right of course. It was my plan and I didn’t want to put anyone else at risk unnecessarily if we could help it.
Since I started going over my plan Jacques remained quiet, but he listened intently.
“I think this may work. I have some ideas to lessen the risk as well.” He said
Theo shook his head, but less convincingly than before. He knew it might be the only way to get the information we needed.
When we partially agreed that this was our last option Jacques went on to explain a plausible, albeit mostly theoretical, plan of execution.
His logistical prowess was nothing short of genius. When he finished Theo and Bili were on board as well. We might be grasping at straws, but if this plan worked it could give us an upper hand. At the very least it will get us one step closer to the main players.
