The Raspite Prince
Chapter 19

"What have you done?" I ask looking at him. I am angry and confused at the fact that he had went against my wishes. He said he was going to help me get what I wanted, not prevent it. He pulls me to him as he sees I am wobbling in my attempt to stay up. I wanted to pull away but I lean in as I cannot hold myself up anymore. Oh how I hope he hasn't just prevented me from convincing them.

"I told you I won't let them keep looking at you as a weapon. I wanted them to see the side of you that I do." I look up at the council then back at him with tears in my eyes. He brushes my hair out of my face as he smiles at me gently.

"Patrick. I..." I just look at him and wonder what effect this would have on their decision.

"I love you, I couldn't let them see you as a monster." He says in a quiet tone. He didn't understand, the reason they saw me as a monster is because I was one. They have to do it, he has to understand that all monsters deserve to be alone. Especially those who kill without thought, without control over it, and with no way to kill me isolating me is the best way. Now, after this they won't understand the true nature of the monster within me. I lay for a moment in his arms trying to collect what strength I could to stand back up.

I stand up with Patrick's help as I am shaking and can't manage on my own. I bring my eyes up and look at the screen they were all watching every detail. This time I do see that faces have changed, but I can tell it isn't the way I had wanted.

"I am sorry about the interruption, but as you see now she isn't just a weapon." Patrick stands beside me helping me keep me balance as he speaks, "She is a person despite all that she has been given she has the capability to show compassion and love and so, so much more then you could imagine." He looks at me but I refuse to look back as I wipe the tears from my face still shaking, "I just wanted you to see that. You may think that I am too involved to make any statement, but I will make it anyway. If she wishes to be alone I think she should have that right." He moves his seat into my position with his opposite hand as he is holding me up with the other. He then helps me to the seated position and he moves the empty one next to him to his position. I don't want to sit but I am far to week to argue just at the moment. I am a bit surprised that the heat had not burned my clothing off although a bit damaged it still covers me. "Given what we have just seen I believe that you are too involved, however you seem to have ways to stop her anger from becoming destructive." Council woman Maggie says. I want to stand but I just look down at the burnt frayed edges of my dress. With her tone I already know that my wishes are to be completely ignored. Patrick's actions have indeed hindered my efforts.

"Given this new information, I am going with Councilman Wolf's suggestion. We will stick you on our base planet of Nabotia. This ability to heal others is amazing and should be kept locked away. It will be very beneficial. We would be able to cure any injury." The red headed man says. I look at him but I do not make any gesture to speak now feeling defeated.

"I agree she should be studied further but she is a living creature and this action needs to be handled delicately." A woman speaks this time. I cannot seem to control the large tears falling down my cheeks as I find the strength to interject.

"It isn't that simple this is the first time I have ever healed another being. And I only did so because of my feelings for Patrick. I cannot guarantee I can repeat this action again." I feel Patrick reach over for my hand but I am still angry at him so I move away placing my hands on the table in front of me away from him. My heart sinks as I know where this is heading. My fears have been realized as the next person to speak is the only woman who had up till this point been on my side.

"I have to say I completely agree that you should be guarded now. Forgive me princess but I change my position and also wish to now go with the Nabotia plan." I stand pushing myself up on the table in front of me, as my breath became quicker and shorter. I want to leave the room, I want to run and hide, or find an escape pod and make it take me as far away as it is capable of. That thought quickly fades as I know they will hunt me down and more lives will be destroyed.

"Well as it would seem that Lieutenant Wolf has some control over your powers that you do not. There for it is my opinion that you will both be kept there until which time you gain complete control over your powers." Maggie says.

"You cannot do this it is not for the best, please is there no other way to convince you this is a bad idea." I refuse to look at Patrick as he stands up beside me making sure I do not fall with my weakened state. He reaches again for my hand to try and comfort me but I pull away again not turning my glare towards him. I want to lose my temper with him, but I know deep down why he did it. I also can't help but love him for his eagerness to make them see me as he did.

"There is no other way for you to gain control then there is no other option. I say we take a vote at this time." Maggie says.

"Please don't do this." I beg and once again my pleas fall on deaf ears.

"I would say that we go to lunch and take a vote after." Patrick's father speaks up. I can see he is exhausted and at this point he is looking at me as though he sees how low my own energy is.

"Take it you are requesting a break?" Maggie asks concerned about his condition.

"Please I just need a bit of time to rest before we vote." This is the only thing that makes me look at Patrick as I know he must be worried, but given everything that has just transpired it is hard to read him. However as soon as he looks at me I look away. I see a bit of a smile form then fade as he has seen me look at him.

"Very well, we will reconvene when you have caught your breath. Adjourned." The screen goes black and I just stand there unsteady as I am weak.

"We should go get some lunch. You also might want to change." Patrick says. He reaches out for my arm to support me, but I pull away almost losing my balance. The captain catches me as he stands up ready to leave.

"Just leave me." I say as the captain helps me back down into the chair.

"Should I call the doctor?" He asks.

"No," I say "leave me." This time I say it with force. The captain bows his head and steps out the door.

"Laoonica please don't be mad at me." Patrick begs. I look up at him with an angry face.

"I meant you as well." I say coldly.

"Just as you thought what you were doing was for the best so was I." he starts to reach for me but the chair swivel and I used it to turn from him. "Okay you need some time alone I will have a tray brought to you then. Would you like a dress as well?"

"Don't bother I am not hungry." I speak in almost a whisper now.

"All the same you are weakened by your expression of power and need to refuel sort of speak." He leaves and I hear the doors close and as they did I let it all out. All the tears and weeping that I had previously been holding in came out. How could he do this? Why couldn't he just do what I asked and let me show them the real me.

"Why?" I say out loud knowing I won't get an answer but I just can't wrap my head around the idea of being put into a position to where I could kill more people. He left me with no choice but to do what I dread most. I do not want to lose myself yet I won't let anyone else die because of me.

"Um Laoonica?" I am still sobbing when he comes back into the room. He sits the tray down on the table beside me. I am not sure if he had eaten already because he only brought one tray in with him.

"I told you I don't want it." I say as I try to pull myself back together in his presence.

"And I told you, you need your strength. You didn't eat last night and you barely touched your breakfast. Please just a few bites." He says looking at me with concern.

"Fine, if you won't eat then I will join you on the hunger strike you seem to have started." He sits down beside me. I look at him with a squint as I really want to throw the tray in his face at the moment.

"What did you hope to accomplish by doing that?" I ask as I try to ignore the fact the food is becoming more and more tempting.

"Well for one I had no idea you could do that, I figured that when I reached for you, you would calm down before I grabbed you." He nudges the tray toward me. I still resist as I look up at him.

"Did it hurt?" I have never known what the opposite side of my power felt like. I grab the hand that I had healed and look at it as I look over it rubbing it gently. I look up and he is smiling at me.

"Just a little, but you being mad at me hurts a lot more." I shake my head and he scoots the tray toward me again. He smiles even bigger when I start eating. I take small bites even though I am hungry, I still try to maintain some sort of manors.

"You shouldn't have done it you know. Now they will never hear me. And worse..." I say as I look into his eyes.

"What is worse?" he asks.

"They will imprison you with me." He smiles, although I do not understand why.

"It's only a prison if you see it that way. Besides I will get to be beside you and that is just fine with me." He leans forward and brushes a strand of my hair back behind my ear. I let a smile escape. "That's better." He leans in and kisses me on the cheek. I continue eating as we sit in the quite room.

"Lieutenant Wolf there is a call from your home planet line one. It is your mother." The captain comes into the room looking at Patrick and me.

"Can I take it in your office?" He asks.

"Of course." The captain says then looks at me, "How are you feeling princess?" he asks with sincere concern in his voice.

"I am better, thank you." I still feel a mixture of emotions and doubt in my mind as to how this council is going to end. Although, I am pretty sure it will be the prison or... I shudder at the thought.

"I will be right back Laoonica. Please excuse me." He says as he stands he brushes his hand down my cheek smiling through the worry I can see in his eyes. He leaves the room and I am alone again as I finish eating my lunch. I look up at the big black screen and can almost make out the squares that made up the grid of the council. I guess it is because I have looked at it for so long with their faces upon it. There are no windows in here though and that did bother me a bit. As I finish eating I step out of the room with the tray which is instantly taken from my hand and rushed away. I walk down and forward into the main area of the deck. I know my dress is charred, but I know it does not expose me either as I make my way to the window.
