Chapter 25

Gordon was clearly furious, shedding his suit jacket as soon as he got into the car and throwing it forcefully onto the seat beside him.

He was dressed in a dark gray shirt with a stand–up collar today, the slim fit highlighting his perfect proportions.

Possibly due to his fury, he was overheating and abruptly ripped open several buttons at the front, revealing his enticing, muscular chest.

He rolled up the sleeves to show off his strong, slightly tanned arms.

I was harshly tossed onto the back seat. Despite it being a leather seat, my thin frame and wrist painfully collided with the window, rendering me unable to get up for a moment.

Raising my head, I saw him approaching, squatting directly in front of me.

When I instinctively tried to stand, he pushed me down again, leaving me no choice but to lie back.

His consecutive actions had frustrated me, and I asked irritably, “What are you trying to do, Gordon?”

“Taylor, remember, we’re still married,” Gordon stated, his voice cold, lacking any hint of warmth.

“And what of it? Being married or divorced, what difference does it make?” I countered, matching his icy

stare.  S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FɪndNøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“I do not consent to you living indefinitely at your parents‘ house.”

His tone was authoritative, filled with the command of someone accustomed to being obeyed.

“I have the freedom to choose where I live. I am not your possession, Gordon.” My irritation intensified, leading to my increasingly curt responses.

Why should he have a say

He brazenly showcased his affairs, following his every whim. And yet, did he truly presume to interfere

with my choice to visit my own family?

“Taylor, don’t forget, you were the one crying and begging to marry me!” Gordon’s anger flared, his gaze fiery as he grabbed my collar.

“So what? I’ve said it before, if you want to leave, you can do so at any time!”

I was genuinely weary. I would rather we both release each other from this superficial marriage.

“Don’t assume I’m afraid to divorce you!” His voice was deep and menacing, and his expression was cold.

He continued, “Do you really think my reluctance to divorce is because I care deeply for you? If not for…”

He nearly revealed the true reason behind his reluctance to divorce but ultimately held back his words.

I knew the reasons even without his confession.

Chapter 25

Radglo Corp.’s two billion dollar aid to Holmes Group in its time of need was common knowledge among Sobrough City’s elites.

A divorce now could tarnish not just my reputation but the Holmes family’s as well.

I wasn’t so naive as to believe Gordon’s reluctance stemmed from any real concern for me.

A marriage for business reasons was just that, after all.

“The Holmes family’s reputation is your concern, not mine. I’m willing to be the one to initiate the divorce. Just convert the two billion dollars into shares for me. I can bear the scandal, no problem!”

This strategy had been proposed by my dad at the time of our marriage, suggesting securing some shares in Holmes Group as a safeguard.

Regrettably, I was blinded by love at that time. I had thought our assets would naturally merge, seeing no

need for such distinctions.

Now I realized how naive I was.

Two billion dollars… Had love ever cost so much?

Yet, what was even more tragic was that, despite such a lavish contribution of money and the prime years. of my life, I meant nothing to Gordon.

“That’s impossible.” Gordon’s response was blunt, and I wasn’t surprised.

“You’re so fixated on Nora. Divorcing me would free you to be with her, wouldn’t it? Maybe you’ll even find your true love eventually. Why let me hinder the path of your love?”

The thought of Sabrina, who was yet to enter the picture, prompted me to offer Gordon this gentle suggestion.

Gordon’s gaze fell, his deep eyes veiled as if shrouded in mist.

He simply stated, “You need not worry about this. I’ll accompany you back to your parents‘ house now, but you must move back to Hovilham Residence tonight.”
