Chapter 30

“Since Gordon has come over, he must realize that he was wrong. How about the three of us go out first. and let the two of them talk alone?” Hector suggested calmly.

Selena and Yvonne looked at each other, and then at me as if waiting for my opinion.

To be honest, I didn’t see any point in talking to Gordon anymore.

His decision to leave me stranded on a mountain road earlier tonight left me deeply disappointed in him.

I remained silent, not saying a word.

Unexpectedly, Gordon spoke up. “I brought her some late–night snacks. You guys please go out now. I have something to say to her.”

Gordon raised the takeout box in his hand, and only then did I notice that he had brought something with

him.

“I’m hungry, too. I’ll take you two out for a bite. Let’s go,” Hector said with a casual toss of his hair, gesturing for Selena and Yvonne to follow him out of the room.

Yvonne was still somewhat worried about me.

“Tay, you rest for a while. If you feel uncomfortable in any way, call me anytime. I’ll be nearby,” she repeatedly instructed, then left the hospital room with Selena and Hector.

Gordon closed the hospital room’s door and walked toward me.

He opened the takeout box, and the aroma of ravioli wafted through the air.

This was a scent I was familiar with as it was from a pasta restaurant I liked very much, not far from

Hovilham Residence.

This was the first time Gordon had brought me late–night snacks. He even remembered my preference.

“Have some. It’s been a tough night for you,” he said.

His tone was very calm, showing no sign of guilt. He simply scooped up ravioli and extended it toward me..

I wasn’t in the mood to eat, especially with him there, reminding me of how he had abandoned me.

Turning my head, I said sharply, “No, I’m not hungry.”

“I didn’t expect something like this to happen or for things to turn out this way,” he said calmly as he put the ravioli down. It was as if he was attempting to convey some form of justification.

“It probably wouldn’t matter to you if it did happen. I’m nothing anyway.”

My heart hurt as I spoke, likely the residue of being wounded too frequently.

“I’ll let you have the script,” he eventually conceded.  Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ Find ɴøᴠel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

His tone suggested the script was a means of redemption. How amusing.

Chapter 30

I had already secured the contract for that drama and signed the contract well in advance. Whether he gave it up or not didn’t make a difference.

Who did Gordon think he was?

I didn’t look at him, merely coldly snorting and deliberately turning my head, not wanting to see him.

Unexpectedly, he reached out and forcefully turned my body toward him, forcing me to turn my head and

meet his gaze.

“I’ve thought about it. There’s really no need for us to be so stiff with each other.”

He looked into my eyes, his gaze unexpectedly carrying a trace of sincerity for once.

Was this an attempt at reconciliation?

His eyes, like black holes, seemed to have a magnetic force that deeply attracted people.

In that brief exchange, my heart stirred.

Previously, such a gesture from him would have surely led me to overlook all his past misdeeds

But now, the thought of him being someone else’s soulmate was a bittersweet truth.

Our paths were destined to cross but also lead us in separate directions. Acknowledging this reality, I pushed down the nascent affection before it could blossom.

I briskly moved his hand aside, avoiding his compelling gaze. “No, it’s better to keep it stiff. Introducing warmth now could only complicate your journey toward finding true love.”
