Chapter 52

I grinned as I accepted the cake from Selena. We each had a slice and happily munched away in the

comer.

The gala was bustled with people, and Gordon seamlessly navigated through the crowd, engaging with the guests.

He raised toasts and exchanged pleasantries while demonstrating professionalism among the business elite.

The gala was winding down as time passed, and guests started to leave in small groups.

I rubbed my sore neck and entered the lounge to ditch the stunning yet impractical gown for something more comfortable.

Selena and Hector invited me for a drink after the event, and I accepted. After such a long evening, I was exhausted and needed to unwind.

After changing. I returned to the venue. Most of the guests had already left, and Gordon was bidding farewell to a client, his hands in his pockets.

I instinctively walked over to him, intending to have a quick chat. But then I noticed a waiter nearby giving Gordon a peculiar look.

He stared intensely at Gordon and suddenly dropped the napkin he was holding. I spotted a gleaming object in his hand.

The hall was brightly lit, casting a chilling sparkle onto the object as it aimed toward Gordon’s chest.

This unexpected sight sent me chills, and I quickly shouted, “Gordon, watch out!”

Before-I could finish my words, a figure rushed past me like an arrow.

A moment later, I heard a woman wailing

Everything unfolded in a blur, happening so swiftly that there was barely time to think.

When I came to my senses, several bodyguards had already rushed in and pinned the male waiter to the

ground.

Gordon held a woman as she slumped to the ground, clad in a pristine white dress.

Blood ominously seeped from her waist, creating strange, vibrant patterns on her once immaculate attire.

White dress, white shoes, ponytail… my thoughts raced wildly.  Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ (F)indNƟvᴇl.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

It was Sabrina.

I didn’t realize that the figure rushing past me was her.

I didn’t expect her to charge forward and take a knife for Gordon.

Despite my efforts to keep them apart and his gradual change in attitude toward me, their inevitable encounter was beyond my control.

They had finally met, and now Sabrina lay weakly in Gordon’s arms. Not only that, but she had also saved

his life.

My legs became weak, and cold sweat formed on my palms. At that moment, my head buzzed, and I felt completely numb.

I watched in helpless anticipation as my husband swiftly scooped up the injured Sabrina.

Gordon shouted, “What are you waiting for? Hurry! Drive the car over and take her to the hospital!”

His voice carried a tense urgency as he held her in his arms and frowned. His eyes remained fixed on her as his hand applied pressure to the wound.

A horrifying sight unfolded as blood seeped from between his broad fingers. With a heavy heart, he lowered his head like he was consoling her.

Despite the evident pain etched on her face, she mustered a smile. Her lips parted as if to reassure him,

I’m fine, don’t worry.”

Their destined encounter had finally begun.

This scene was more profound and more memorable than playing the piano.

Why didn’t I rush forward just now?

Why didn’t I shield Gordon from that knife?

My heart sank into a whirlwind of confusion, instantly leaving me feeling utterly drained of energy.

The sight of my husband carrying the woman he was evidently about to fall in love with pierced through me until they vanished from my sight.

Suddenly, a warm hand gently rested on my shoulder.
