Chapter 56

*Hector, are you reluctant to let me have a sip?”

I gave him a sideways glance, knowing he didn’t mean it that way but still said it on purpose.

He instantly released my hand and pointed to the rows of fine liquor in the cabinet behind him, smiling

charmingly.

“Tay, I don’t have much else here, just a lot of booze. Tonight, you can drink as much as you want. I’ll

accompany you.”

Hector was quite generous.

satio

We didn’t exchange many words. Instead, we sat together, sipping on our drinks, one glass after another.

As the alcohol seeped into my system, I began to feel a bit light–headed.

It was no surprise that so many people turned to alcohol when they were feeling low.

It indeed had a way of easing your troubles and allowing you to loosen up, even for a fleeting moment.

Hector sure knew how to run a club. He was quite the party animal.

He showed me some fun drinking games, pulled out some dice for us to play with, and really made me

laugh.

Before I realized it, I’d had quite a few drinks and started to feel pretty buzzed.

“Hector, what’s so good about Sabrina? Why does Gordon like her so much?”

“Tay, who do you think Gordon likes?”

“Hector, I’m good at everything. But why does Gordon never seem to care about me?

“Hector, do you think there are some loves in this world that are just destined to be unattainable?

“Hector, do you reckon Gordon will still be head over heels for Sabrina? I mean, to the point of being completely obsessed with her?”

As I consumed more drinks, it seemed like I was talking to Hector, but it felt more like I was murmuring to myself. I didn’t even know what I was saying anymore.

When a person felt miserable, tears seemed to come unbidden. I kept telling myself not to be sad about Gordon anymore, but the tears just couldn’t be held back.

The flood of memories from my past life crashed over me like sharp, relentless waves, tearing through my heart mercilessly.

It was as though my very soul was bleeding, and each breath felt like a struggle for air.

“Tay, what do you mean when you say “like before“? How do you know what Gordon was like before?”

Hector grabbed my shoulders, his voice filled with confusion as he asked loudly.

I wanted to answer him, but my head was spinning crazily.

I felt dizzy and swayed on my feet. He seemed to blur into several faces, none of which I could clearly.

distinguish.

“Hector, I want to go home.”

I staggered toward the door.

“You’re drunk. Come. Let me carry you.”

Hector reached out and gently took hold of my wrist, pulling me closer as he crouched before me

It was as if I was suddenly transported to a carefree moment, swaying back and forth like I was on a

swing.

My stomach churned with discomfort, leaving me drained and powerless. So, I simply allowed him to carry me forward.

Suddenly, my phone kept ringing incessantly.

As I grabbed the phone and noticed the name “Gordon” flashing on the screen, any inkling of interest in answering vanished entirely.

Without a second thought, I flung the phone away, the impact echoing loudly as it hit the floor.  Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ Findɴovel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Through my haze, I caught Hector muttering something quietly. Despite the challenge of carrying me on his back, he tried to retrieve my phone.

I vaguely heard him shout, “Gordon, do you still fucking remember you have a wife

“If you want to be with her, focus on her wholeheartedly! Many others would treat her well if you don’t

want to!”

This was the first time someone had stood up for me in years.

I never realized Hector had such a masculine side until now. How did I miss that?

Why was he suddenly being so nice to me?

“Hector, you’re… still a good person,” I mumbled as I leaned on his shoulder.

Another wave of drunkenness washed me, and I felt my head buzzing.
