Chapter 60

It felt like someone forcibly twisted my mind around. At that moment, the gloom brought by Sabrina vanished from my heart entirely.

Glancing at Hector, I saw his eyes sparkle with encouragement. They urged me to step forward and face

everything.

“You’re right. Hector, mind lending me your arm?”

I nodded, took a deep breath, and quickly composed myself.

“No problem!”

Without a second thought, he offered me

his

arm.

I linked my arm with his. Then, I knocked twice on the door before entering with Hector.

“Sabrina, we’ve come to visit you again. Are you feeling better?” I asked loudly as soon as we entered, ensuring Gordon could hear me.

Our sudden intrusion visibly startled her.

Upon seeing me, she raised her head and sweetly said, “Mrs. Holmes, you’re here.”

Her attitude toward me remained respectful.

Gordon immediately turned his head. He saw me linking arms with Hector, and fury flashed across his

face.

However, he didn’t erupt in front of Sabrina.

He merely asked coldly, “What brings you here?”

“I came to check on her. After all, she saved your life. Sabrina, are you still feeling unwell?”

I released Hector’s hand, walked up to her, and shook her hand. Then, I sat on the other side of the sickbed, smiling warmly.

I vowed not to show my vulnerability to them again.

“I’m feeling much better, Mrs. Holmes. Please don’t say that. Anyone would have done the same in that

situation.”

Sabrina looked at me kindly, her eyes sincere. Evidently, she had not yet developed any different feelings

toward Gordon.

“Not everyone is as brave as you. Take good care of yourself, okay? If you need anything, just let us know.”

I continued to smile nonchalantly. I could feel Gordon’s eyes fixed on me, tinted with displeasure.

“Where were you last night?”

He couldn’t help but finally ask.

“Oh, last night? Hector and I were just drinking. We drank too much and couldn’t return, so he carried me back to the hotel,” I replied casually, not bothering to care about his feelings.

Gordon’s anger intensified.

He got up and said coldly, “Come with me. I need to talk to you.”

With that, he turned and walked out. His tall figure exuded infinite rage.

Hector and I exchanged glances, and he gave me an encouraging look.

I followed Gordon silently. As soon as we reached the corner of the corridor, he suddenly turned and forcefully pinned me against the wall.

I was startled by his actions.

“Whoa! What do you think you’re doing?”

“Taylor Morgan! I should be the one asking that. What are you up to now?”

He looked at me angrily with his lips tightly pressed. His gray eyes emitted an imminent burst of fury.

I pretended to look relaxed and casual, arms crossed, and said lightly, “I haven’t done anything. I just had a drink. Gordon, weren’t you the one often staying out late before?”

“So, are you now trying to get back at me? And you’re using Hector for that?” Gordon sneered, his voice dropping to a threatening whisper as he grabbed my collar.

His eyes bore into mine as if he wanted to devour me.
