The willows and endless palm trees brought nostalgia to me as I remembered how Kevin used to bring me here. 

How we would make love under the moonlight,praying for the moon goddess to bring me my wolf and to make us mates. How Kevin would shift in front of me and how beautiful I thought his wolf looked. 

Those were the good old days. The days before Kevin cheated on me,telling me to my face how weak and wolfless I am. How he,a gamma couldn’t be with something wolfless. 

How I found solace in bottles of liquor,the harsh taste burning my sorrows. How I met Lucien and how my whole life changed. 

“Welcome home,” Lucien announced,breaking my chains of thought and I exhaled deeply as I looked around.

Nothing’s changed.The last time I was here, I left with humiliation,injuries and heartache. 

“Alpha” a voice I recognized called out and we both turned. It was Greyson. 

“Someone is here to see you. She says it’s important“, he glanced at me and I instinctively turned away. I saw him whisper something to Lucien which made his eyes widen in surprise. 

“You’re sure of it?” Lucien asked and he nodded. 

“I believe so. And she doesn’t want to talk. She said she would talk to only you.” 

Lucien turned to me, “take her to a guest room,” he told Greyson and he nodded. before leaving. 

He picked my luggage and walked briskly and I struggled to catch up with him. 

“Who wants to see him?,” I asked as soon as I caught up to him. 

“It shouldn’t bother you,” he said,still taking long strides.

“I wanted to know if it was about my children,” I said again and he stopped before. turning to stare down at me. 

“If it was about your children, I promise you you’d know” he kept on walking,taking me through several wall of stairs that I had to wonder if I had to take such a long and stressful journey every day. 

We walked wordlessly and by the time we got to the room which he said is mine, I was out of breath and panting. 

“It’s so farrr..” I said trying to catch my breath. 

“I’m sorry,the other rooms are not available right now“. I groaned as I plopped onto the bed,watching him about to walk away. 

“Greyson!” I called out before he could leave and he turned. 

I sat up, “I didn’t get a chance to say thank you.”

“For taking me home that night.” 

He seemed to be thinking. He probably had forgotten what he did for me.

The shrill ring of my phone jolted me up. I didn’t know when I dozed off. I remember unpacking and laying down,looking at Kai and Rick’s photograph. I had. probably cried and fallen asleep. 

I smiled and picked up the phone when I saw Sherry’s picture and name pop up 

on the screen.

I used the tip of my tongue to l*p moisten my already dried l*ps and sighed,wondering where I was going to tell her I went to and why I left without taking an excuse.

I really wanted to cry at the thought of my children.

she replied and I sighed. Before she continued. 

“Have you notified the police about the children?” 

I paled at that. How could I have been stupid to forget that. I was in human territory, I should’ve reported to the police for protocol not that they could do anything to help me. I need to think about something to cover up urgently. 

“My cousin is a police in Albuquerque, I informed him and he said I shouldn’t do anything because there are suspicions that one of our distant cousin is responsible. He’s almost caught him now” I rambled on,hoping she believes a word of it. 

“But you should’ve reported it to the LAPD first. You know the crime was committed here!” She said firmly and I rolled my eyes. 

Sherry was the only human I’ve seen who is very patriotic and law abiding. She has been like a sister to me for the past 5 years, 

She was the one who recommended me to Doctor Terry to be promoted from an assistant doctor to a full medical doctor. 

I first met Sherry in college and she instant took a liking to me and asked us to be friends. I learnt a great deal about the human life from her and almost told her about me being a werewolf when she read a werewolf book and spoke about turning into one and being with the person she loves when I smiled instead.
