I turned back once more and couldn’t help but marvel at the most beautiful sun rise I’ve ever seen. Rays of light reflect on the silverpond,silverpine’s most cherished river. 

I couldn’t help but take it all in. I will miss Silverpine and all its beauty. 

“Goodbye,” I whispered as I entered my car and drove off, the sound of Alan Walker’s “Alone” blasting through the stereo. 

I was alone now,but I’m going to do what I do best,being a doctor. I loved the feeling of being the one who brought a smile to the face of patients when they thought they’ve lost all hopes. 

With time, I’ll forget about Lucien. But I sure won’t forget about my babies. 

I drew my blouse down to look at Lucien’s mark,it was still there and I could still feel the mate bond. The last time this happened, I was in pain until the mark was removed,but now I felt nothing but sadness. It was all my fault. 

Lucien hadn’t outrightly rejected me,it was probably why I didn’t feel any pain. We are still mates!. 

I heaved a sigh of relief as soon as the familiar buildings came to view. 

“Goodbye Amara Müller,” I muttered. The unfortunate werewolf, Amara Müller had gone and in her place was the amazing Doctor Jessica Miller. 

I pulled into the driveway and got out of the car and walked briskly to the house. I opened the door and found the house as quiet as I had left it. 

This house used to be my safe haven,but now holds memories of unfortunate events. My mother’s death,my children’s abduction and Raven’s death. 

I went straight to the refrigerator to see if I could find anything to eat. It was empty except for a can of beer which I grabbed and gulped down quickly. 

I needed to eat something quickly, anything. I was pondering over what to do when the doorbell rang. I went to open it and was surprised to see two policemen in front of my door. 

“Miss Jessica Miller?,” He brought out an ID card and the other one flashed his

The ID card said his name was Toby Turner. 

“Ummm…officers,how may I be of help to you,” I questioned, hoping that my voice doesn’t give out how nervous I am. 

“We have been trying to get a hold of you for days, Miss. Could you tell us where you’ve been,” The other one who showed his badge said and I eyed them 

suspiciously. 

I saw the officer Toby Turner try to balance one foot with the other,a clear indication that he was tired of standing. 

“I don’t have to say anything to you,” I shot out. 

“Ma’am,this is not an interrogation. We just received a report that your mother was murdered and your kids,abducted. Is this true ma’am?,” Officer Toby said and I paled. 

I just came here and the first thing I was having is a police case. Failure to report a crime was a crime on its own and unless I had a good reason for not 

reporting, then I’m totally fucked. 

“Officer, I assure you, I had a good reason for doing that,” I said and opened the door further, “please come in,” I said,beckoning them to come inside the house. They looked at each other in hesitation before coming in. 

I sat opposite them, the empty beer can was on top of the table. 

“I would’ve offered you something but you see officers, I’ve not been around,” I used my fingers to touch the table,indicating how dusty the table was. 

“It’s Alright Miss,” 

“I couldn’t cope with the loss,so after cremating my mother, I went to my family’s estate. My cousin promised to help me find the children and the culprit,he’s a private detective…” I paused and inhaled deeply. 

“We found the children dead a week ago in front of my family’s home. It breaks my heart to relive every moment of it again but….it is what it is. I just hope you’d allow me to have my peace. I don’t want to talk about it again. I want my Children

There was silence before officer Toby Turner cleared his throat, “I’m sorry Ma’am. I truly am,we truly are,” 

“Please accept our condolences,” the other officer said and I nodded and sniffed,playing the part of a grieving woman. 

“We’ll be on our way now. Sorry for the disturbance,” They said as they stood up and began to walk away. 

I sniffed and nodded and watched them walk to their car. My wolf senses tinged as I heard the other officer say to officer Toby. 

“She’s just a grieving woman,she doesn’t want to start a case. Let’s do that for her,after all we have hundreds of other cases waiting to be solved.” 

I sighed as they left and my stomach grumbled, I am hungry!!. I really need to eat,quickly. 

I was just heading to my car when the shrill ring of my home telephone stopped

She was probably worried about me as she didn’t heard from me since that night 

at the club. 

Just then the telephone began to ring again and I picked it up with urgency. If it was indeed Sherry,she’d have been worried about me. 

“The Miller’s residence Jessica Miller speaking who is this?,”

“Jessica?!. Oh God!,” it was Sherry’s voice and I couldn’t help but detect a hint of panic in her voice. 

“Hey Sherry,I ran into a bit of trouble but I’m fine now,I promise…” I was still saying when I heard the sobs from the other end of the line. 

“Sherry?,what’s wrong Sherry?,are you alright? I’m not hurt or anything. I went back to my family.” I said in a bid to calm her. 

She was probably worried about me,and maybe felt guilty about dragging me to the club that night.

“Look if it’s about that night at the club,it’s okay,I know you meant well for me…” I was still saying but her sobs were becoming much more serious and I began to panic. 

“Okay Sherry,look everything is fine, I’m coming over now. You’re at home right?,” 

“Jessica…David. David is dead,” She said in between sobs and I felt my breath knocked out of me. 

“What?!,” I croaked out. 

There’s no way. That’s not possible. It couldn’t be. That Tincture was potent. It was the only thing that made me different from the other doctors. 

“How….what…how??!,” I stuttered,unable to believe that something like this had 

happened. 

There’s just no way he could have died. He looked alive the last time I saw him,he looked like he still had a lot of life left in him. 

There’s no way he would’ve just died. Even if it was another illness that took him, that tincture would’ve helped his immune system fight the illness. 

Except he was stabbed or sustained any physical injury,there’s no way he would’ve died. 

“Are you home now Sherry?,“I questioned as I glanced at the empty can of beer,noting that I have to take it out. 

“Yess..yes,” she said and I’nodded and then realised she can’t see me.

As soon as I got to Sherry’s house, I sprinted inside and met a sobbing Sherry curled up on the sofa,in tears.

“He was fine. He really was,you saw him,” she said and I nodded. He was fine before. Neft. 

“He suddenly started convulsing and I took him back to the hospital. We tried everything we could,but they said he…he was…it was already too late…he was already gone….” 

I sat listening with my mouth agape and my eyes wide open. 

He had died due to internal bleeding because of something in his system.
