Chapter 78

Tears were beginning to cloud her eyes and I opened my mouth, trying to form a sentence, trying to let her know that I didn’t mean it the way she was thinking.

“Why?” She croaked out, in between s obs and I shook my head. Eve had successfully pulled herself away from the conversation.

“Giselle,” I said, taking a step forward, to meet her.

“Don’t come closer,” she took a step back and I whimpered.

Giselle was a good person. From what I had noticed, She was too soft and weak. She would cry at every little opportunity, just like I used to. All thanks to Rielle and her people for making me this strong.

“You don’t trust me,” she whispered and I shook my head.

“It’s not like that. It’s not like that, Gis-”

“Don’t call me that!” She snapped and I winced.

“Even after everything I did for you!, after everything I went through because of you!” She exclaimed.

I kept quiet, knowing that there was nothing I could say to calm her down.

“I was branded a traitor for interacting with you!” She flung her arms, sniffing.

“I was thrown into a cell, because of you!” She tried blinking back the tears.

“My image was ruined! But I never complained. I never complained about any of that, and neither did I doubt you! I believed you!, I trusted you even when the others did not!”

“I was the only one in Silverpine who trusted you! hell everywhere!” I winced at her words. But she was right. She was the only one who trusted me.

“I’m sorry,” I murmured and she shook her head.

“Why don’t you trust me?” She wiped her tears and glared at me. I swallowed hard, there was no way I was going to answer her, I didn’t even know what to say.

“I trust you,” I finally answered as she raised her brows inquisitively, awaiting a response from me.

“You don’t! you said so! You don’t trust me!” She yelled and I shook my head rapidly.

Suddenly the door opened and I heard Roland’s familiar voice boom.

“Gis!, what the hell is going on?”

I spun around slowly. I didn’t even know what to say, so I kept quiet as she began to so b slowly.

He glanced at Eve who seemed to be minding her business.

“I never liked you and I still don’t, but what did you do to my sister?” He clenched his fist and she chuckled.

“Glad to know that the feeling is mutual, Rolan. I don’t like you either. But unfortunately, I’m not the source of her unhappiness.”

He turned to me, eying me suspiciously as I had a remorseful expression on my face.

“What did you do?” He glared at me and I swallowed hard, watching as Eve walked out of the kitchen, leaving me with a sobbing Giselle and a very furious Rolan.

“I-,” I started but was suddenly cut off by Her.

“After everything-after everything I’ve done for her, Rolan, can you believe that this woman said she doesn’t trust me..this ungrateful-so ungrateful-she is wary of me,” she choked out in between so bs and I swallowed hard as Rolan glared at

me.

“What haven’t I given?-I’ve told her everything-even the ones I couldn’t tell Lucien I trusted her like that. Only for her to express her distrust towards me!” she began to cry again as her body shook with so bs.

I bit

my lower lips and averted my gaze from Rolan.

“It’s not like that,” I stated, calmly.

I was confused. I knew I had said I didn’t trust Giselle, but with the way she was reacting, it felt like she was really honest without me

thought of her like that and making her hear me tand I felt guilty for having

about her like that.

She was a good person and I had made her cry, I had to at least explain everything to her, I owe her that.

“I don’t trust anyone. It’s not just you Gis, it’s everyone, even my own sister who has been nothing but helpful to me.”

I grabbed the glass of beer that was on the table and ch ug ged it down quickly, feeling their eyes on me.

“You can’t blame me. I’ve lost a lot. My children, my mum and my grandmother. The person I’m supposed to trust the most has betrayed me multiple times, has humiliated me-has,” I shook my head sadly, feeling the tears sting my eyes. I didn’t want to cry, I had to be strong.

“Trust is a luxury that I cannot give right now,” I stated and then turned to face her. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ Findɴovel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“I’m sorry Gis, I’m really sorry for taking your kindness for granted,” I said, smiling sadly as I walked out, leaving the both of them.

“Is this how you guys stay cooped up in here all day?” Rolan questioned, taking a sip from the juice he earlier poured for himself.

No one answered him as we all ate in silence. It’s been three days and Giselle and I still haven’t spoken to each other.

“Norman!! My man!” He yelled and chuckled and I just shook my head, this guy was just something else.

I didn’t know why Eve insisted on us eating together. It was awkward. I wasn’t talking to Giselle and Norman and Rolan seemed to have some sort of issue going on, I knew that the issue they had told me was a lie. There was something else between them.

He picked Norman playfully and Norman glared at him. It was a death glare, the kind that if looks could kill, Rolan would’ve been six feet under by now.

“Whoa, man! Easy!, you still haven’t forgotten about that issue? It’s been years now!” Rolan stated and that piqued my interest.

“What issue?” The question earned a glare from Norman and I averted my gaze.

“Wait!, he hasn’t told you?,” he questioned, looking serious and I scrunched my

Brow.

From his expression, I’knew that the issue must’ve been very serious.
