I just couldn’t understand all that was going on anymore. The seer had said that somehow, there was still a bond between us, and that caused the pain to transfer from Amara to me as it was too much for her.. 

I didn’t see any reason to delay it anymore, now that Rielle was out of the picture but Greyson advised that I 

quickly made it official to avoid Rielle’s revolt. I then decided to wait until the trial was over. 

Rielle looked at me with pleading eyes, she kept talking about someone killing her as she betrayed them by being here, she wouldn’t go into details as she claimed to be under an oath. 

There was nothing Nathaniel could do as I exiled his granddaughter from Silverpine. He knew that he had lost when he reminded me that he had been the one funding the mansion. I knew we owed the Archers a lot and that was why he thought he was powerful enough to control me. 

After the trial and I was sure that Rielle was being safely escorted out, I was just about to have dinner on my own when Greyson joined me. 

“Alpha,” he called and I glanced up at him, beckoning to him to sit. 

“Do you think we’ll be okay without Nathaniel’s and the other elders‘ support?” 

I didn’t have an answer to that, so I said nothing but continued munching my salad. I knew that things would become turbulent but I was the Alpha. 

“We will be fine,” I said firmly and he sighed.

The ceremony was to hold the following day and I smiled as I thought about it.

“Rick! Come here!” I said with a smile as I saw him approach. 

I furrowed my brows when I noticed there were tears in his eyes. 

“What happened?” I demanded as he used the back of his palms to wipe the tears away. 

“I don’t like mummy,” he said quietly and I was taken aback. 

He was always asking for Amara and now that she was here, he’s now talking about not liking her. 

“What happened, Son?” 

“She’s not my mummy,” he said in between sobs as he fell on my lap. 

“Oh,don’t worry, you’ll like her soon.”

It was strange. What this meant was that he was now attached to Rielle and had probably forgotten Amara. I felt guilty as it was my fault that she had to leave him. 

I was about to say something when Amara entered. She looked stunning in the pale blue dress she was wearing. There was something different about her, she was even more beautiful than I remembered and I wondered if it was because it’s been a while since I last saw her… 

“Ricky darling,” she cooed and he huddled closer to me. 

“I don’t know what’s wrong with him,” she glared at him, a frown etched on her face and I knew she was in pain. My heart ached at that. 

“Greyson,” she acknowledged as she sat down. 

He nodded in response and then faced me. 

“I’ll be on my way now, Alpha.” 

As soon as he left, she faced Rick.

Her tone was threatening and I wanted to tell her to just let him be.

you will listen to me!” She yelled, jabbing a finger at him and I held out a hand to stop her 

as he began to cry. 

“You’re making him cry, Amara. Just let him be and he’ll come through. He’s just a child.” 

She hissed and glared at him with fury. 

“You’re not–you’re not my mother,” he said slowly, in between tears and that seemed to set her off as she stood up sharply. 

“You ungrateful child!! After all I’ve done for you!” 

I had never seen her that angry and I felt guilty because it was my fault. If it wasn’t for me, she’d have been with him and he wouldn’t have forgotten about her. 

“Calm down!” I hissed as it looked like she was going to hit him.

She hissed in anger as she sat down. She then called the maids to take him away, I didn’t stop her as I felt it’d be better for the both of them. 

He wasn’t comfortable in front of her and she was angry at the sight of him as he couldn’t acknowledge her as his mother. 

“Tomorrow, we’ll have the mating ceremony,” I announced and the corners of her eyes crinkled as she smiled. 

“I can’t wait!” She half screamed and I smiled at that. 

She looked even more beautiful as she smiled. 

“I’m sorry for having made you cry all these while,” I said and she shook her head. 

“Then we wouldn’t have been here—in this beautiful love story.” 

She stretched out her hand to meet mine and I took it.
