The moment Xavier asked me about the stress lines on my forehead, I could not help but stare at him speechlessly. Was it that obvious that I had a lot on my mind lately?
“You’ve not said anything” he said with a teasing smile on his face.
“It’s just
ust work related” I said and he chuckled.
“The stress lines on my forehead is also work related baby, you have nothing to worry about” he said and I smiled.
I knew he just lied to me, but then I did not want to pressure him into telling me what was running through his mind, that would only make him more suspicious of me.
“I had a hectic day at the office, what’s up with you and the elders? I saw some of them leaving earlier” I said and he sighed.
“Most of them think am incapable of handling the affairs of the pack and should just step down” he said and I stared at him in shock.
“That must have hurt” I said genuinely feeling bad for him. After all, I remember just how much he put into practicing to take over from his father, just to receive such a cruel word from the elders.
“I’m used to it, my father used to say worse when he was alive” he added as we both walked out of the conference room and towards our room together.
“Being used to abusive words does not make it right my love” I said and he sighed.
“They do not respect me because my father made it so. Rachel I’ve told you many times. how much I will do just to make sure my reign is different from my Father’s” he said in hurt.
“Although I am not in support of how he died, my father lived a bad life, he took over neighboring packs forcefully to increase his rank in the werewolf realm. People trembled at the mention of his name, he forced himself on people’s women and even forcefully converted people’s properties…..” he trailed and I stared at him speechlessly.
“My Dad was manipulative and a chauvinistic bastard, a man I would never be proud of even in my next life” he said harshly.
“He made me feel less of myself, he made me doubt my capabilities, he made me feel like I was too weak to be the Pack leader. Now, years after how demise people still think am incapable because because, haven’t taken in his foot steps” he said and I sighed

“That is one of the reasons why the pack seems to discover new enemies everyday, some whom I don’t even know yet” he said and chuckled bitterly.
“We keep fighting battles which we don’t even know how they began or ended” he said. and sighed.
“Come here” I said and pulled him into my arms.
“Everything is going to be okay” I said and he k*ssed my forehead.
“With you by my side I believe everything is already okay” he said and I chuckled.
“We should go and check on the kids Mr lover boy” I said and he laughed. We walked towards the kids room, and they waved at us immediately we got in.
“What are you up to?” I asked as my eyes moved from Derrick to Damien and from Damien to Derrick.
“We were making cards for you and Daddy” Derrick said and Xavier stared at them with. amusement in his eyes.
“What kind of card?” he asked curiously as we sat next to them.
“A greeting card, we figured out you and Dad have been very busy lately and wanted to do something special for the both of you” Damien said and my eyes stung with tears hearing him refer to Xavier as Dad.
Xavier must have noticed it too because he held my hand in support, but that only made me feel more guilty. He never hid it from me that Derrick was his son with Emerald, even when he held some kind of resentment towards the memories he shared with me as Emerald.
But I’ve lived with him, slept with him, ruined his life and is planning to wreck him. Yet still have the heart to hide a father from his son.
“Hey it’s okay” Xavier said as he k*ssed my cheeks I chuckled out tears.
For years I have called him heartless monster, but now it’s beginning to rub on my face that I was no different than him.Maybe just maybe am worse.

“Is everything okay? I totally understand if you are not comfortable with him calling me Dad….we
….we can just…” he trailed.
“No…that’s not it, am just a bit emotional” I said holding his hands.
“Are you sure?” he asked with concern.
“I’m very sure, it is not even what you think I just had something on my mind” I said. with a chuckle.
“I’m not comfortable with you crying it breaks my heart” he said and I sniffed back the tears that threatened to fall out of my eyes as I chuckled.
How ironic that he can’t watch Rachel in tears, yet he watched Emerald beg and cry for his mercy. Too bad they are both two people.
“I’m here for you okay” he said and he pulled me into his arms, at that point I numb.

“Good job, I liked how you poured the words on him like hot fire” Jayden said as he handed some notes to the Elder at the dead of the night..
“I support you, immediately he steps down as the pack Alpha we will make sure you become the next Alpha” he said and Jayden smirked.
“It’s wonderful to see I still have someone who supports me in my fight to overthrow Xavier” he said and the man smiled.
“I support you because you deserve to be supported you are a good man” he said and Jayden smirked.
“You should go, I don’t want us to be seen together” he said and the elder left.
Jayden checked if the coast was clear before making his way back to his penthouse.
“My love” he said k*ssing Lina on her bare back.
“I’m not interested” she said softly and he stared at her back in shock.
“What do you mean by you are not interested? I’m your boyfriend Lina” he said in frustration.
“And I am your girlfriend, not a se x toy who always have your back”she bursted out of frustration as fresh tears rolled out of her eyes.

“Jayden can you be lenient with me for once in your life? I recently just had another abortion because you are not ready…my b*dy hasn’t healed from the pains….” she trailed and his eyes softened.
“You should have told me you are still trying to recover, what’s with the whole am not interested” he asked angrily.
“I almost lost my cool just now he said and Lina couldn’t believe her cars. If she had not rephrased her words that meant he would have beat the living day lights out of her like he always do.
Would she have even survive? How much more pain will Jayden even cause her? She felt bitterness with each passing second.
“Are you crying?”Jayden asked as he k*ssed all over her n*eck, she tried her best not to snap at him.
“I’m sorry, you know I love you so much and that is why I desire you” he said and pulled her into his arms from behind.
“Go to bed, am here to watch you sleep” he said and she didn’t know what to say or feel.
“Jayden…she trailed.
“I know it’s been awhile since we just cuddled, let me be the romantic man you have always wanted me to be” he said. Everything and his presence was making her feel sick in the stomach.
“Enjoy it while it lasts” he said and his words made her feel nothing but fear.
Lina’s hand went to her mouth as she cried silently, her heart burned for her passed mistakes and how uncertain the future was at this point.
