I sat with my legs crossed in the room I was in.

The alpha of the pack that was planning to kill Charlie was sitted opposite me staring intently at me.

I stated my words

His eyes seemed to shun from my proposal.

"to have a phoenix princess as powerful as you I'm sure that we won't have any hard time with the witches. At least you'll help protect us. But how am I sure that you won't betray me? *

It was the first time the grumpy alpha had smiled at me since I got there.

He extended his hands for a shake which I took gladly.

"and I'm Melanie."

I answered.

** Alpha Ryker's POV **

I Watched as the guards left the throne room one by one with my instruction.

Soon the front door creaked open and. Jaxon came in.

He was looking sullen and his eyes were swollen.

"were are you just coming from Jax? Didn't you have to handle the instructions yourself, why was the guard doing it? *

I asked him as he walked down in a seat besides me.

"I had to take care of my mom. It's usually my sister who does that that's why I never have to worry about it but now that's she's gone I have to stick around, my two step sister are to busy being selfish to care... And the old woman isn't making it any easier for me! *

He lamented and took the mug of juice I was drinking from the table besides me.

I asked.

He nodded his head and I sighed.

"sorry about that man... But there's nothing I can do. And my wolf is ignoring me too, he haven't talked to me since the shifting ceremony.. But I guess you too will be fine and adapt to the situation soon. *

I said and rubbed his shoulders.

He sighed

"so your really marrying her?"

I heard him asked.

I took a deep breath before replying him.

"yes... I do like her a lot and you know that. What's with the questions? "

He sighed and looked at me apologeticly.

"any ways Cole said he'll be arriving late. He may arrive on the day of the ceremony so he asked me to tell you that."

He said.

I sighed.

Jaxon,Cole and I just graduated from the same university in New York and we were currently good friends now.

"what's he up to again? *

I asked

"since his pack is the closest to the last victim pack of the black witches disaster he has to rely a lot of protection over to his pack mebers before coming over here with the warriors for the pack. So he would be arriving late. "

Jaxon explained.

"oh okay! Wanna hang out? Maybe we can have a mug of beer or two before hitting the sack. It's late.”

I asked him.

He nodded and stood up leading the way to the front door.

I stood up and followed him out.

I watched as Alpha Cole as I had gotten to know him walked up to the huge crescent stone at the center of the pack.

His pack members where all surrounding him.

I stopped hand in hand with Charlie.

"so I'm still a little bit freaked out over the fact that you are a phoenix princess, I still haven't gotten the whole thing yet Melanie. "

Charlie shook her head.

"shouldn't you be thanking me for saving your live? I just returned your favour. Your actually the first friend I ever had so I'll do anything to keep you.... If you don't believe me then I'll take you to my firebird desert to see things for yourself!"

I laughed at her.

I called and she came flying right into my shoulders right away.

l introduced the two.

"can he talk? And why are you introducing me to a bird? "

Charlie asked and rolled her eyes.

"first of all its a she! And she can talk, I may let you form a telepathy connection with her so she can help you in danger anytime you want her to."

I glared hard at her as I said.

Coles voice snapped me back to my senses.

I smiled and walked up to him as the pack emebers eyes me from head to toe.

I stood besides him and a middle was used to prick both our fingers. Our blood was then collected in a bowl and mixed together.

"I thereby announce phoenix princess Melanie as the newest pack members. Please do treat her like a family! *

He ordered and everyone clapped.

He greeted.

I lied at him.
