Just her luck, Elsa thought. Everyone she didn’t want to see was showing up today.
“Long time no see, Ms. Hardy.” She’d only seen Erin Hardy in photos, but there was no way for her to pretend she didn’t recognize her now.
“It’s been a year!” Erin sat down next to Elsa, her tone gentle but somehow sharp. “You were Ryan’s assistant a year ago, and now you’re a famous TV show host. That’s amazing.”
Elsa forced a smile. “One should strive for greatness, no? I’m pretty and I’m talented, and it’s only natural to achieve what I‘ ve achieved.”
Erin’s lively expression darkened at that, but she maintained her composure. “Is Hill TV really that easy to get into? I heard you’re always at different clubs with different guys.”
“Do you believe everything you hear?” Elsa retorted, raising an eyebrow and leaning in closer. “Personally, I’ve heard you insisted on getting involved with Ryan, even after you knew he had a girlfriend. You sent explicit photos to said girlfriend, too. What happened to that strict upbringing?”

“Ryan had just gotten into the entertainment industry, so wouldn’t his manager know if he had a girlfriend or not? It’s hearsay all around, like you said.”
Elsa smirked, putting extra deliberation into her next words. “A few days ago, Ryan approached me and said he broke up with you. He wanted to be with me instead. Is that true?”
Erin’s face instantly went pale, and she gripped her Hermès bag tighter. Just then, someone called out Erin’s name, and she stood up and left the waiting room, looking unusually relieved. Elsa smiled brightly and remained in her seat, scrolling through her phone.
Erin came back out a few minutes later, shooting Elsa a glance, and then she left. Before Elsa could do anything else, her own name was called.
Once Elsa had gone inside, the doctor asked her a few questions, all of which she answered truthfully. The doctor then asked her when she’d last gotten her menstrual cycle, and her heart skipped a beat.
“I’ve done everything I should, every time. I’ve been really busy recently, though… Could it be an endocrine disorder?”
“It’s possible.” The doctor scribbled down a list and handed it to her. “You should get a urine test first.”
Anxious, Elsa headed down to the restroom and spent a while

there. When she came back, going towards the testing department, she happened to see Erin again, and the two of them locked gazes for just a second as they brushed past each other.
Erin grabbed Elsa’s arm as she walked past, looking deep into her eyes. “Just remember. Even if you steal him, he can’t leave me.”

By the time Elsa had come back down to reality, Erin had already proudly strode off, and there was a nurse urging her to move out of the hallway. She turned in the sample container at the counter, where a stack of papers was sitting. Erin’s results were at the very top, and they were… Positive?
Elsa found a place to sit in the waiting room again, but all she could think about was Erin’s test results, Erin’s meaningful look… That was what she’d meant earlier. That was why she’d been acting like that. She knew she was pregnant, which meant Ryan couldn’t leave her even if he wanted to.
Her hands shook with anger. All of the time she’d spent trying to forget about the past had been for nothing now that Ryan and Erin had both approached her, reminding her of how she‘ d been betrayed.
Elsa sat there for what felt like forever until a nurse called her name. She hurried back to the counter to get her test results, taking deep breaths to calm herself as she picked up the
