The Rogue Alpha
Problems Arrive

I walked out of the office, and into the fresh air. Leona wasn't in sight, but that didn't surprise me, since I didn't figure she contacted her enemy in front of the others.

Cousin Richard approached me with a few council members. He introduced me to a man named Steve, a woman named Tammy and another man named Ron. I shook each of their hands and waited to see what this was all about. They only emitted nervousness.

Tammy took the lead and said, "It's great to finally meet you. We've been waiting a long time for you to lead us to victory against our enemy."

I raised an eyebrow at her. "What enemy are we talking about?"

"Werewolves, obviously." She replied snarkily.

I laughed. "You do realize I'm a werewolf, right?"

Ron adjusted uncomfortably. "Many speculated that you would be, because of the prophecy clues, but the prophecy also made it clear that you will lead us in war against our enemy."

"Well, I have no intention of going to war with myself." I replied, "Whether it's for you against them, or for them against you."

Steve cleared his throat.

I turned my attention to him.

"We're getting off subject." He exclaimed, "While we are glad to finally meet you. What we need to talk about is your coronation, to officially acknowledge you as our Luna and leader."

I smiled. Some kind of power play was happening, and I knew they would reveal it if they kept talking.

"There are a few details we need to get ironed out, in order to perform the ceremony." Ron stated with authority.

"Like?" I said slowly.

Tammy grinned and answered, "Besides the date, and other minor details like food and beverage choices, we need to decide which Hunter you will have by your side?"

"I would hope that you're all by my side." I replied coyly.

Steve groaned. "She means in a romantic way."

"Well, in that case, none." I stated, "My chosen partner isn't a Hunter."

Ron sighed. "That's going to be a problem."

I dropped my smile. "Is that so?"

"It's possible that people won't like your werewolf blood." Ron asserted, "Having a Hunter spouse would alleviate the worries of many of them."

I looked between the three of them, standing next to each other like a solid wall. "Well, then, we need to have a town meeting, say in half an hour, and I can personally address the issue."

"Thank you!" They said in unison, before turning to leave and gather everyone together.

"You're not going to do what they want at this meeting, are you?" Richard checked.

I laughed. "I wouldn't be me if I did."

Half an hour later I was standing on a stage with the six council members standing behind me. I faced a couple hundred Hunters, looking like they were at a concert, and I was the star attraction.

Leona had given me a brief introduction, and stepped back with the other council members.

I took center stage and took a deep breath. "Today I met you all for the first time. Some meetings went better than others, but I hope that over time I can get to know everyone and earn your respect." I paused as the crowd clapped.

"The council that has been leading you until now has informed me that I need to marry a Hunter in order to be have my coronation to become the Luna Hunter."

Some people gasped, others grunted, but everyone kept their attention on me.

"I would like to call the heads of the house of Light, Shade, Fight and Grade to stand beside me." I announced with a grin.

Cousin Richard smiled as he took his place. Sonya Light, the bartender, looked curious. Nick Fight, who threw the dagger, was observing me with what I could only describe as intrigue. Only Leona Grade didn't look happy about it, but she still came and took her place.

I looked at the crowd. "It is my understanding that although you have all waited for the Luna Hunter, only four families knew any of the prophecy, and each only knew their part. Although I'm sure that over the years some slip ups have occurred, but nonetheless I'm certain most of you don't know the prophecy."

The crowd nodded, and acknowledged this fact.

"So, I am asking those who declared that I am the Luna Hunter to recite the prophecy." I stated before stepping back to let them.

Sonya Light stepped forward. "A kiss so dark will be her mate's mark, Another will want to try, He'll quickly fly, Where he lands will be full of Sand, Everyone will be surprised."

I nodded. "Do I fulfill everything you recited?"

Sonya answered, "Yes, you have a black kiss mark on your hand, given to you by your mate, and it caused Hunter Tamer to fly and land in the sand, much to everyone's surprise."

"Thanks for informing us." I said.

She stepped back.

Cousin Richard stepped forward and recited, "She will come from a Hunter Line, but not a Hunter, She will look like the enemy, Pack less than three, She'll try to be fair in all she'll do, To silver she'll be immune."

"Do I fulfill the prophecy?" I asked.

"Yes." He stated, "You come from the line of Shade, but your mother doesn't have the Hunter gene. Your pack currently includes you and one other. You look like the enemy we've always fought when you turn into a wolf, and have no reaction to silver."

"Thanks for informing us." I stated.

Richard stepped back, with a grin.

Nick Fight stepped forward and recited, "Reflexes fast as can be, Too fast to really see, In her place a silver blur, made from fur, She'll jump real high, when a dagger flies."

"Do I fulfill the prophecy?" I asked.

"Most certainly." He answered, "When I threw my dagger you jumped, and caught it in your mouth, in the process you changed forms, causing a silver blur from your silver fur."

"Thanks for informing us." I stated.

Leona Grade reluctantly stepped forward.

"Please recite your portion of the prophecy." I prodded.

"To no group will she belong, Her determination will be strong, Her defiance knows no bounds, As she fights to stand her ground." Leona recalled in a melancholy tone.

"Do I fulfill the prophecy?" I asked again.

"Unfortunately the prophecy was quite right about you not belonging in any of our groups, even your age group didn't want you in their group, and you have definitely shown defiance and a willingness to fight for where you stand." Leona replied.

"Thanks for informing us." I stated once again.

She stepped next to the other house heads.

I looked at the four of them. "It's because of this prophecy that you all declared that I'm the Luna Hunter?" I asked.

"Yes Luna." They answered.

I turned to the crowd. "Do you accept me as your Luna Hunter?"

"Yes Luna." They replied in unison.

"Then do I need a mate or coronation?" I asked.

"No Luna." They screamed at the stage.

"I for one would like to know how our Luna Hunter will handle the infraction that occurred at our border, just before this little meeting occurred." Leona exclaimed with a mischievous grin.

I quickly asked, "What infraction?"

Two people were dragged up on stage. I instantly recognized them as the Omega couple that Sentinel Marshall had tried to order to the back of my line.

"These wolves broke our treaty, and crossed our boundaries. They must be dealt with appropriately." Leona declared.

I glared at her. "You mean you want me to handle this like you would." I replied, "Only your way isn't necessarily appropriate." I turned to the couple. "Why have you broken the treaty?"

The man answered, "Luna Eleanor banished us from Wolfville, because we obeyed you over her representative and stayed in line to see you."

My eyes glowed silver so brightly that it almost looked like my eyes had become flashlights. "Luna Eleanor will be dealt with." I announced.

Leona scowled. "That doesn't explain why you came here!"

The female stated, "We knew that the only one we could turn to was the Silver Luna, we felt a pull bringing us to her, and followed it, but your guards captured us before we reached her."

"And where is this Silver Luna you seek?" Ron asked from among the council members.

The couple both pointed at me. The crowd gasped.

I turned to them. "That's right, I'm the Luna each side of your war has been waiting for."

Telepathically I reached out to Alpha Nolan, "I need you to take an Omega couple into your care. I will have a trusted Hunter meet you at the border with them."

"I'll be there." He answered.

I took a deep breath and turned back to the couple. "Do you choose to join my pack that I will be forming?"

"Yes Luna." They replied together.

"Without knowing who my Alpha will be?" I confirmed.

The male stated, "We trust you to choose wisely."

"Well, that's good." I declared, "Because I am placing you in his care until I have dealt with Luna Eleanor."

"Thank you Luna." They stated together.

I looked at the crowd. "Eugene, come to the stage."

It didn't take long for him to appear next to me. I watched the couple as I told Eugene, "You are to personally escort this couple to the border, where you will be met by Alpha Nolan, and you will release them to him."

The couple's faces showed the same shock that the gasps from the crowd expressed. Even Eugene whispered, "Wow, no wonder you didn't advertise your mate choice."

I laughed. Then I asked the couple, "Do you still choose to follow me and my mate?"

"Yes Luna." They replied. The male added, "He can protect us where no one else could, there is a reason he is your choice."

I turned to the crowd. "Whether you choose to follow me or not doesn't change who I am. Yet I ask you, do you choose to follow me?"

While many answered, "Yes Luna." Not everyone responded with the same enthusiasm they had before.

I signaled Eugene to take the Omega couple to the border and the three of them left together.

Leona got in my face and asked, "Aren't you going to punish them?"

I chuckled as I pushed her back. "Let me make this clear. I don't just lead the Hunters, I lead werewolves too. Either may need to approach me wherever I may be, and no treaty is going to keep my people from me! Nor will I punish someone for needing me!"

"I..." She stammered.

"If you'd like to challenge me, we can have a little fun getting our aggression out." I offered, "I'll even refrain from changing forms."

"I'm sure there's no need to resort to that." Ron said as he stepped between us.

"Well, then, I have places to be and people to deal with." I turned to the crowd. "I already have a Beta, but my top in command for the Hunters, until further notice, is Eugene. I will be back in a few days, and any problems he can't handle he will bring to me at the Shade cabin."

"Yes Luna." The crowd replied.

I turned to Leona. "Keep playing games with Luna Eleanor, and you will join her fate."

Then just to emphasize everything I turned into my wolf, released a howl, and ran to the cabin, leaving Cousin Richard to drive back on his own.
