Chapter 1 The Rumored Fortune Teller Fiancée

“Mr. Pierce, your rumored fortune teller fiancée from the countryside is waiting outside the gate!” Ryan Fletcher stumbled in to report. The man stood with his back to him, his tall, slender figure exuding nobility. His fingers, with distinct joints, held a transparent glass, and his thin lips were as cold as a blade. Upon hearing the words ‘countryside fortune teller,’ a look of disgust quickly crossed his face. “Would you like to go to the hall and meet her?” “No need. She will be brought to me.” The morning light cast a glow on the man’s well-defined face, but it could not illuminate the darkness in his eyes. Sidney Pierce, the president of Pierce Corporation, created his business empire at twenty-five years old and wielded the golden power! In Hollander, he was rumored to be cold-blooded and ruthless, employing harsh methods and never indulging in the pleasures of women. However, a while ago, his grandmother, Linda, solemnly informed him that he had a predestined bride since childhood, as predicted by a master. The other party was the destined person in his life. He was asked to bring her back from the countryside. Or else, he would not live past his 26th birthday. Beside Sidney was Ryan, who sighed with sympathy as his eyes shimmered. Our Mr. Pierce is truly a pity. He has the looks, wealth, and power. Yet, he must marry a rural fortune teller. … Outside the Pierce Residence, a young girl stood silently in front of the European-style castle mansion, her big clear eyes surveying the surroundings. There was a verdant lawn and courtyard that radiated a grand and majestic presence. Angel sculptures stood tall, and black carved lampposts displayed an air of nobility, resembling a scene from Greek mythology’s Garden of Eden. However, she felt a faint unease the moment she stepped inside the gate, her delicate eyebrows slightly furrowing. Accompanied by the person who picked her up, Christine entered the castle-like villa. “Mr. Pierce, Miss Morgan has arrived.” As the door to the study was pushed open, the person who accompanied her tactfully closed the door and retreated. Sidney’s gaze wandered over her, the lady exuding a youthful aura. Her tight-fitting pants accentuated her slim waist. A touch of astonishment flashed in his dark eyes, but it quickly disappeared, replaced by a cold demeanor. When Ryan saw the girl’s appearance, he also widened his eyes in disbelief. “You… You’re the countryside fortune teller?” He had expected her to have her face covered in paint, feathers in her hair, and constantly muttering to herself. Or perhaps, she would be wearing ragged clothes with a dirty and dusty appearance. However, the girl in front of him looked no more than a teenager wearing a simple T-shirt and slightly faded jeans. Her jet-black ponytail was high and neatly arranged, giving off a clean and refreshing look. She carried a small bag with bells slung diagonally across her waist, making her look rather plain. The only thing remarkable about her was her beautiful appearance. Her amber eyes were bright and clear, captivating anyone laying eyes on them. Christine fluttered her big clear eyes and said with a smile, “Sir, please show some respect for my profession. You can simply call me by my name, Christine Morgan, if you don’t know how to address a geomancy fortune teller.” Ryan gave an awkward smile. At that moment, a soft chuckle came from the nearby couch. She raised her gaze and saw a man sitting upright on the couch. He wore a handcrafted black suit with his legs crossed, exuding an air of elegance. Beneath his solemn black hair was a finely chiseled face. Deep and clear, with eyes emanating a cold and aloof aura. “So, you’re Christine Morgan? You’re quite quick-witted with your words. However, this is the Pierce Family. I don’t believe in any geomancy fortune-telling nonsense. Since you’re here, behave yourself. Don’t go around deceiving others under the pretext of being my fiancée!” The man’s voice was icy, mirroring his expression and gaze. Without giving her a chance to speak, he directly said, “I want to make things clear to you in advance. If it weren’t for my grandmother’s illness, which has led her to resort to a hunger strike, there’s no way I would let you set foot into the Pierce Family.” Her smile faded slightly, feeling the unabashed disgust and resistance from him. It also took her eighteen years to realize she had such a marriage arrangement. She was raised in the St. Maximilian Home since childhood, where it was foretold from birth that she would have financial difficulties and could never accumulate wealth. As a result, her parents had distanced themselves from her, and she had not seen them for many years. Her grandmother told Christine that if she wanted to unravel her destiny, she should come to the Pierce Family in Hollander, where she would find the answers she sought. The man’s indifferent voice rang again, bringing her wandering thoughts back. “As for your engagement with me, I will find a way to resolve it.” With that, Sidney leaned slightly forward, his sharp eyes filled with coldness. “I will give you 140 million as a token of gratitude as long as you behave and obey until the engagement is annulled. You won’t have to be a swindler in society anymore. But if you dare to scheme or entertain any thoughts you shouldn’t have, you won’t get anything!” The man’s icy words echoed in the room, making anyone who saw his dark gaze tremble. However, Christine raised her charming little face and fearlessly locked eyes with him. She smiled brightly. “Mr. Pierce, rest assured that I have no interest in arranged marriages. I’m only here at the behest of my grandmother. She heard about Madam Pierce’s serious illness. So, she specifically asked me to come and visit. As for that 140 million, you can keep it. I’m not interested in it, nor am I interested in an old man seven years older than me.” At that, Sidney’s dark eyes dimmed slightly, and the atmosphere in the room became heavy. Ryan trembled as he glanced at Christine’s delicate face. He never expected this young lady, who appeared gentle, to be such a feisty chili pepper, daring to call Sidney an old man! Just as the tension reached its peak, the butler, Howard Freeman, timely entered the room, nodding and bowing slightly to everyone. “Miss Morgan and Mr. Pierce, Old Mrs. Pierce are asking for you both.”
