Chapter 15 A Humiliating Defeat 

The news quickly reached Linda, and she was immediately it with an idea. 

With that, she called Sidney over, instructing, “I heard you’re attending the exhibition. You should take Christine with you. She is new here and doesn’t know anyone. Take her around and familiarize her with your social circle. Help her make some friends. Also, make sure to choose the best couture dress for Christine.” 

Facing Linda’s expectant gaze, Sidney nodded resentfully and promised, “Don’t worry. I won’t let her embarrass herself.” 

Meanwhile, Christine was reading a text on her phone, her eyes brightly lit. 

Wimbels Brand had sent her an invitation, urging her repeatedly to attend as DG, even if it was just 

once. 

Christine knew the brand would be holding an exhibition soon, and they had used her name to secure appointments with influential individuals. If she were to stand them up, it might affect their sales figures. 

Being one who cherished money, she swiftly replied, ‘Okay.‘ 

Then, the sender followed up with a bunch of grateful words, but Christine didn’t bother to read them. 

Just then, a knock came at the door. Christine answered it to find it was Sidney. “What brings you here again, Mr. Pierce?” she asked, blinking her almond–shaped eyes. 

Sidney, with patience, parted his thin lips and said, “Grandmother wants me to take you to choose a dress and accompany me to the DG fashion exhibition.” 

Christine was momentarily stunned. At the thought of the text she received, she furrowed her brows slightly. She didn’t want to expose her identity just yet. 

“Well, please tell her I won’t go. Places like that have nothing but clothes. It’s rather boring,” she said in a casual tone, but it strongly displeased Sidney. 

His deep, dark eyes filled with imperial authority stared at her cartoonish outfit for a moment before turning to mockery. “No wonder Yan keeps calling you a country bumpkin. You really have no taste and can’t appreciate DG’s unique style.” 

Christine smirked inadvertently, feeling a little proud. 

In terms of aesthetics, she thought Sidney was alright. After hearing him call her a country bumpkin, Christine pouted unhappily, arguing, “Everyone has different tastes. Like you, for instance, who thinks his overly greasy pompadour hairstyle is handsome, but I find it quite repulsive!” 

With that, Christine, once again, swiftly closed the door before Sidney could flip out. 

On the other hand, a few veins on Sidney’s forehead throbbed while he witnessed her childish behavior. His well–defined fingers clenched tightly, and his exhaled breath was icy and mocking. “I was planning on getting you some dresses as gratitude for curing my grandmother’s illness, but since you’re

so ungrateful, I can save my money!” 

With that, he turned around and left without ever looking back. Midway, he called Ryan. “Get me a hairstylist, new, immediately!” 

How dare she say my hairstyle is ugly?! Is it really that bad? 

After waiting for a few days, the fashion exhibition commenced as scheduled. The rain had washed the air in Hollander, and it became refreshingly clear. 

Luxurious and extravagant car convoys radiated a shimmering light, with numerous well–known figures entering one after another, accompanied by their companions. Various media outlets were continuously taking photographs. 

A long stretch of diamond–studded red carpet lay ahead, with promotional billboards for the fashion exhibition standing beside it.

“Speaking of which, there’s a rumor going around that Sidney Pierce is getting engaged soon. Someone even leaked that Linda Yates posted the words ‘granddaughter–in–law‘ on her private social media account… I bet she’s referring to the prestigious Lange Family’s heiress. Good news is on the horizon!” 

“This is a major news scoop!” Discussions abound as the highly anticipated fashion exhibition would 

soon commence. 

Christine appeared at the entrance, dressed in simple gray sportswear. Her ink–black long hair cascaded down, with a wispy fringe framing her slightly lazy and enchanting eyes. 

She pursed her lips and gradually furrowed her brows. 

George had invited her to attend, but he had forgotten to give her the invitation. Well, it was partly her fault as well, as she hadn’t formally responded to him to confirm her attendance. 

So, how can I get in now? Christine called George, intending to inform him that she had arrived at the venue’s entrance. However, the line was constantly busy on the other end. 

Unfortunately, no one answered. 

Just then, Melissa stepped out of her car. Her lightly curled hair cascaded down her back, adorned with tassel–diamond earrings. She wore a light golden strapless gown, and her choice of lipstick was of a fiery red shade. She held her hand against her chest while accepting the flashes of countless cameras. 

Melissa immediately noticed Christine among the crowd. Christine was dressed in ordinary sportswear, standing out amidst the beautiful women and haute couture, looking like a cleaning lady. 

“Miss Morgan?” Melissa narrowed her eyes and quirked a brow.
