Epilogue
The second I stepped through the door I whipped out my communicator. After glancing behind me to see we were alone I called Atalanta.
“Where are you?” she demanded, but I didn’t give her an answer.
“Fall back.” I told her, and she furrowed her brow.
“What? Why?” she interrogated.
“Because I just went up against Ouroboros, that’s why! Lance is safe but we barely made it out alive. We achieved our goal. Now it’s time to go home,” I explained but she still wasn’t convinced.
“If Ouroboros is weakened, this could be our chance to capture the one behind all this,” she argued, but I would have none of it.
“It’s too risky, I don’t know how much power or tricks Ouroboros has left. No one dies tonight, now fall back before anyone else gets hurt,” I ended the call once she nodded her consent. I turned to Lance.
“Are you okay?” I asked with concern blatant on my face. He nodded absentmindedly.
“I’ll live, but look.” He pointed to the distance. Above the canopy was a roof I recognized. I lowered my gaze to find Dragon Hollow.
We were back on Pangaea.
So what am I supposed to be looking at?
It doesn’t happen in this book. Watch Ouroboros, he’s the one I’m worried about.
Does he win? You know the antagonist wins sometimes.
That’s the thing. I’ve reached the end of the story and I still don’t know.
Don’t know? How do you not know? It’s our job to know. We exist outside of Tale specifically so we can find out what happens.
That’s why this worries me so much.
