was already asleep.
North moved gently and withdrew from his embrace, then, she reached out to pick up the phone he had placed on the bed table.
She sent Jace a text message, “I promise to cooperate with you.” The text read.
After the message was successfully sent, North deleted the message and kept the phone back.
She got out of bed and went to the dresser. She took out the book that Joyce had given her from the drawer.
