Fay sauntered into the room, long dark hair cascading down her back, her face radiant and excited, “Vante, darling, you didn’t wait for me. It’s not fair! I love him more than you!”

She turns to the prince after scolding her friend, “Sugi! I missed you so much! Did you miss me?”

She walks up to him wrapping her arms around his shoulders. “Darling, do you still love me?” She asks with a pout.

“I do, you two are my dearest friends.”

“And the most fun! Pour me a drink, please,” the enchantress said coming closer to Jimon with a swish of her elegant dress.

“Hello!” She says looking at Jimon, her big clear eyes full of curiosity.

“Who is your new friend? Won’t you introduce me.”

Sugi smiles, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to be rude. Fay this is Jimon. You’ll be surprised to know Jimon has just walked into my life this day and already we have a connection.”

“Oh?” She says looking from one to the other a hint of jealousy in her eyes.

“Yes, he is the only person I know, apart from my mother, that can look into my eyes and be unaffected!”

Their eyes open wide in surprise. “How can this be?” They both look at Jimon who just shrugs his shoulders staring back at them.

He thinks, ’I am affected by your lovely eyes just not how you think.′

“We don’t know why, but it makes me hopeful. Maybe the only people affected by the curse are those from my kingdom, or maybe there is something special about Jimon,” he says.

“That’s not fair! No one wants to look at your eyes more than me!”

Sugi smiles at her statement, her pout still evident on her face.

“How is everything?” He says changing the conversation.

“Don’t worry, it’s fine.”

“You would tell me, right? Just cause I have my duties doesn’t mean I won’t make time for you, Fay.”

“I want you to make time for me tonight,” she said sitting on his lap.

“How bold you are Fay. It never ceases to amaze me.”

“That’s what you love about me,” She says holding his chin.

Vante is not amused but he just shrugs it off. He is also attracted to Fay and tolerates her infidelities just to be part of her world. They have been together since they were children and she still thinks of him in a brotherly way. That was okay when they were younger, but he wants more. It’s almost as if she enjoys teasing him, but for him, it’s more like torture. He busies himself pulling a small table towards them and opens a small chest with playing cards.

Reluctantly, she removes herself from Sugi’s lap as they are going to play card games. The four of them settle down to their game after refreshing their drinks. Vante stares at Fay with a smoldering look suggesting a bet in which the winner gets to sleep with Sugi. Sugi laughs at the prospect and they giggle in agreement.

“And if I win... I get to chose who I sleep with!” The prince says his eyes straying to Jimon.
