The Sun God Diaries
Chapter Twenty-Three: Hell Hath no Fury than the DuBauers Scorned!

“Malachi.”

“Malachi, baby boy, please wake up.”

My eyes fluttered slowly as I saw the relieved faces of Alain, Francisco, and a teary-eyed Quentin (which is very re never cries unless it’s something that would break him- in this case, me) hovering over me. I uttered a slow moan, slightly winging in pain from the IV drip. “Ah, jeez,” I groaned. “How long was I out?”

“Two hours, thankfully,” Francisco breathed, giving me a small kiss on my forehead. “We got the SOS and came to the cafe as soon as we did. Galen and Aivox were vainly trying to get away from that Biggins she-devil’s cronies’ grasp, but your dad was the one to fight those whores before your Great-Grandmother and the other gods and goddesses came down and laid it on them.”

Alain nodded. “And for the record, you can bet your bottom dollar that no one dares hurt Her children and grandkids that were born from Her womb. The way she put that Biggins brat in her place before She went into beast mode? The thought makes me have nightmares.” He shuddered briefly, which made me laugh.

“Where are they- Galen and-”

Quentin cut me off with, “They’re with your brothers for the moment and the gods and goddesses,” he replied. “And all of them have the DuMartels in the parlor as well as that girl’s parents. And everyone’s not happy with what happened. To be frank with you, neither was I. I had half of a mind to fight those four harlots before letting my men in hell deal with them if it wasn’t for the fact that my demon Harbonah wanted to stay by your side since you were in an hour-long comatose state...”

He stopped talking, steeling away the tears that formed in his eyes at the memory of Dad being comatose when he and my other fathers of the Elite Eight met him after confronting Regan Zallenda.

Francisco nodded solemnly. “All of Denver is calling for Sarah Biggins and her posse- Katya Allen, Macy Francks, and Tatiana Slocumb- to be executed rightfully,” he said slowly. “And they will, but it’s not our call to make. That lies in your hand.”

“Me?”

Alain nodded. “Son, you know that punishment for harming a royal prince- one of the supernatural realms- is punishment by the victim’s choosing,” he replied. “And since you are BOTH the Moon Wolf Prince and the Sun God Wolf King, you have total sway on those girl’s punishment. Exile, execution, imprisonment- you choose.”

Oh, yeah. Now I remember with my royal lessons from Archer and Iain. And I definitely knew that those girls will have to be disposed of ASAP since I know that the bitchy kitty was hyped up on revenge and blind ambition. And after what she and her friends pulled with kissing me, the choice was clear as daylight.

“Right,” I said. “Tell the others that I decided to execute Biggins while sending her friends to the werewolf prison in Siberia. The girls themselves are more than likely blind followers while Biggins herself has had a hatred for me since you guys 86′d DuMartel. And while all of them were seducing me and my mates before kissing me, it was Biggins herself who planned everything.”

“Right,” Francisco agreed. “I’ll let your Great-Grandmother know immediately as She’s been waiting for you to wake up and give your decision.”

“Totally fair,” Alain agreed. “And those girls kissing you were purely unacceptable, in my book. But I did like the fact that you and those boys vomited on them before you punched Sarah. I know you don’t want to fight a woman, but she’s far from that.”

“Can you blame me? One of her clan’s breath smelled like kitty litter and day-old tuna melts. I feel like I need to wash my mouth out twice over!” I slumped back on the infirmary bed just as Dr. Alissa McNeese, the head nurse of the infirmary, came in. “Doc, I don’t suppose you have any mouthwash on hand to get the tase of a harlot out of my mouth?”

She nodded, gesturing at a nearby cup of mouthwash that was on my left. “I saw what had happened at the cafe,” she replied formally, wincing at the memory. “I knew that you hated the taste of a...unrespectable woman in your mouth and that you had already claimed your mates, so I had it on standby in case you woke up.”

“Thank you,” Alain breathed. “And when can Malachi leave the infirmary?”

She grabbed my chart and looked at the findings. “He can leave and resume his lessons as soon as tomorrow, but he’ll need to lay off combat training for two more days, given that the stab wound wasn’t fatal but was still rather nasty,” she commented. “I hate to be those women who are being beaten by the guards at the moment. They really went overboard.”

“Well, doc, rest assured that Biggins will be executed and her followers will be off to Siberia by first light,” I commented as I felt sleepy. To my Alpha fathers, “If you see the Moon Goddess, let Her and the others know of my decision and that I am recovering at the moment.”

“Of course,” Francisco smiled as he placed one more kiss on my forehead. “You just rest.”

“Thank you,” I mumbled as sleep began to take me under. And I was out like a light, my supernatural sides needing to regain their energy by me resting.

*************

The next afternoon, I was out of the infirmary wing and back in the fray of academic and royal lessons as I was finishing up my online World History class when I saw both Clayton and Kaden come into the room with the former bringing me lunch from Carl’s Jr. “Thank the heavens that you’re okay,” Kaden breathed as he wrapped me in a giant bear hug. “All of us were worried stiff that you weren’t going to wake up.”

“Yeah,” his twin brother agreed, placing the bag of food on my desk as I logged off. “Phillippe and Claude were ready to go wild when they got the news. And you know that Abaddon and Azrael were ready to give those fucking whores the ass-whoopin’ that they deserved. But we knew that your final decision for their punishment would be in your hands. You killing Biggins and sending her friends to Siberia was fitting for what they did.”

“Thanks,” I commented, grateful to see a chicken sandwich and fries in my bag alongside a side salad and a chocolate chip cookie. “I knew that if I decided to make them rogues or exile them would just encourage them to continue to harass me and even plan to go after me with an army of femme-fatales on hand. So death for Biggins and Siberia for her loyal followers sounded a good way to go.”

Both boys nodded.

“How did the Magnificent Eight handle the news?” I wanted to know, biting into my sandwich.

“Ooh, not well,” Clayton winced. “Once they found out about you being attacked and stabbed, all of them were racing to the cafe but were told to head to the palace to see our Great-Grandma. Nathaniel and Ivan were having panic attacks that triggered earthquakes in the south Atlantic Ocean while Damien was ready to go feral with his claws out. And as soon as they saw you being carried into the infirmary by two of the Gorgon quadruplets, they were ready to stand watch over you, but had to settle for a vigil in the waiting room.”

“Ian was crying his eyes out while Isaiah was praying like crazy for you to come out of your coma,” Kaden added, encouraging me to continue eating as soon as he noticed me stopping to listen. “All in all, the Eight were emotional wrecks until they saw you wake up and talk to our fathers.”

I swallowed the last of my chicken sandwich, nodding intently. “Have one of the maids send the boys boxes of candy alongside a note to let them know that I’m doing okay,” I instructed. “Boy, there’s always the jealous haters that want me to fall.”

“I heard that,” Clayton replied. “But what about you, bro? How are you handling things?”

I took a deep breath. “Right now, I feel a bit stronger even after surviving an ’assassination attempt,’” I answered, “but this only means that my life is starting to get more real than I thought with me being the sun God Wolf and all. And with us still keeping our eyes peeled for Cunningham and the Howells, you already know that I’m going to need all the support I can muster.”

“Dad has that covered,” Clayton replied, handing me a nearby large cup of diet Coke. “He’s working with Archer and Ian to begin a round of pack and coven visits to boost morale and gain campaign. They’re also working together on the upcoming Autumn Formal ball that’ll be in three weeks, meaning that you’ll need to work on those royal and academic lessons more as well as keep at it with combat training and shifting lessons.” Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FindNʘᴠᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

I nodded, knowing that they were right. “I guess that it’s time to up the ante more with my journey,” I commented, pausing to sip on my diet Coke. “Well, then, I might as well prepare to double down and show everyone that I may have been down, but I’m far from out.”

My twin brothers nodded, smiling brightly. “You got to do what you must,” Clayton commented. “We’re glad that you’re okay.”

“And thank y’all for lunch,” I commented. “It means a lot that I can spend a few minutes with y’all. But y’all need to head back to Bethune Memorial while I’ll be having lessons with my tutors.”

The brothers nodded as they got up and began to leave, but not after I stopped them to hand them some Rice Krispie Treats as a gesture of gratitude. “Don’t tell the others,” I warned them. “This is for spending a moment with me.”

“We’ll keep mum,” Clayton replied. “And we might as well tell you this: one of the guards was seen being bribed by Abaddon to keep quiet about him grabbing a few Nutty Bars.”

“Did the guard accept?” I asked.

Clayton shook his head. “He made me promise to tell you as soon as possible,” he said.

“Thanks,” I commented. “Now, get the servants to send the chocolates to my mates and get Mrs. Yanez to put pink hair dye in Abaddon’s shampoo.”

“Dude, that’s wrong,” Kaden said.

“Well, Abaddon needed to know better. No one messes with my stash or my garden and gets away with it. Now, off to school with you two.”
