The Sun God Diaries
Chapter Forty-Nine: Time with the In-Laws (No Mates Allowed)

Malachi’s POV

One week after learning that I was carrying four Omega boys, I was finally finished with all of my online classes, combat training, and royal lessons for the day and it was time for me to just kick back and have a moment to reflect on what’s been said and done for the past few months.

There was a knock on my door just as I was grabbing some chili-cheese-flavored Pringles and a bottle of tea from my stash. “Come in,” I replied.

In stepped the Booker twins, Alyssa and Addison, Mariah, Destiny, Tomeka, and even Dad. “Long day, son?” Dad asked me as Amerie, Firella, Divinity, and Chai followed behind them with Renatha and Cunningham bringing in boxes of pizza.

“I had slower,” I couldn’t help but reply. “And what’s going on right here?”

“Well, since our mates- yours, Cunningham’s, and ours- as well as our fathers-in-law are currently handling some Alpha-related business, we figured that we take the time to just be Omegas and have ourselves a kiki session,” Tomeka replied. “And with you now expecting four pairs of feet, you can definitely bet that you need some good company, Malachi.”

“That I am,” I agreed, motioning for everyone to take a seat while pizza and drinks (the latter from my stash) were being passed around. “And yeah, you guys. I can honestly say that this was what I need right now. I mean, I’m not only expecting kids but also the countdown to coronation and wedding bells have officially begun in high swing.”

Firella held up a finger, silencing me. “I know that tone, chile,” she said sternly. “Sounds like you got a case of the nasty nerves that are trying to silence you down.”

“Preach,” Addison commented, biting into her pepperoni slice. “It’s natural for you to have the jitters once in a blue moon, Malachi. But you have overcome so much shit in your life- dealing with petty Betas, greedy and arrogant Alpha males and females, shutting down haters, and preparing yourself to be the Sun God Wolf. I mean, come on. That’s some pretty big stuff for you to handle, and you’re only eighteen.”

“Amen,” Renatha piped up, reaching into her large purse and unwrapping a honey bun. “Most kids who would be in your shoes would usually crack under pressure and either turn rogue or just blow the greatness and be some reckless idiot. You, on the other hand, have been raised to fight the odds.”

“I know,” I replied. “I’m just worried about my little ones and the pressures that they might face.”

All faces softened. “Oh, Malachi,” breathed Divinity as I patted my still-flat stomach. “It’s your parental instincts kicking in.”

Dad hummed lowly. “I can relate,” he piped up, pausing to sip on his diet Pepsi. “When I was carrying all of my sons for the first time- before the triplets, of course; I was dealing with the same emotions myself and had thoughts of insecurity myself. ‘What if I wasn’t a good enough parent to juggle royal duties and being a mate? What if my kids weren’t seen as true royals? What if Malachi was also rejected like I was with Zallenda?’”

“How did you get through with those thoughts?” Evan asked.

Dad smiled. “It wasn’t until after I came from being kidnapped by Ryan Zallenda when I realized that I had been through the biggest of all hell fires and the nastiest floods and I still made sure to trust in my Mother’s plans- the Moon Goddess’ designs to help me through the chaos,” he answered, letting a small tear fall slowly from his face. “I had the love of all my nine mates and my newfound friends to remind me that I wasn’t alone. And neither are you, Malachi.”

Amerie nodded before turning to me. “Child, who can really say what can or can’t happen? Sometimes we have the most frightening failures that make us want to hide and sometimes there are the moments of the sweetest victories,” she said. “We laugh, cry, mourn, and even dance when the time has come. And at times, the road can be rocky without telling us when, where, or the reason for it all. But when you got friends to stick by your side through thick and thin, you can be assured that you can finally breathe.”

Cunningham wiped a tear from her eyes. “That’s for sure,” she replied. “All the time I had to lie low after eating a giant slice of humble pie, I had to make sure to finally accept the fact that nothing is ever the same and I needed to check my attitudes. After coming here and mating with Oliver, I was certain that I- like most of you guys- can find a happy ending despite all of my sins. Malachi, you’re so lucky to be where you are right now. And though the journey is far from over, you are bound for greatness.”

I nodded. “Thank y’all,” I breathed. “I guess I needed to just learn to chill out and find my center. I haven’t been doing that lately with the lessons, online classes, physical training, royal duties, and all that.”

“It can be a total bitch,” Chai agreed.

“You don’t have to tell us,” Alyssa and Addison commented.

“We all have our moments,” Regan added.

“But at least we can still learn to grow,” Renatha said. “We may be supernatural, but we are mostly human. We have our quirks and anxieties. But we can choose to evolve. Learn to wake up and embrace the news of new beginnings and fresh-off-the-press chapters. And most of all, trust in Her plans and each other. Trust ourselves.”

Mariah snapped her fingers as we all followed suit. “Speak it,” she said. “Malachi, you can always count on us here to help you stay grounded, you know that?”

I nodded. “And thank y’all for checking in on me,” I replied. “I guess this was needed more than I realized.”

“Well, we were here mainly to talk to you about wedding plans, but I guess things have been a bit emotional with your pregnancy and all that,” Firella commented. S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“He’s not the only one,” Evan replied as he and his twin brother rubbed their flat stomachs. “Regan and I went to the doctor and we’re both expecting Alpha boys- vampire/merman/angel hybrids, to be exact.”

We all squealed. “Wait, do the twins know?” Chai asked excitedly.

“Are you kidding?” Regan replied, rolling his eyes. “The moment Mike and Gabe found out, they went blitzkrieg-crazy on protection and making sure that we weren’t left alone.”

“Damn,” Amerie said. “I bet that there are wedding plans in the air for you four.”

“We’re taking it slow,” Evan commented, pausing to eat his slice of pizza. “But we’re thinking of getting married before Regan and I give birth.”

“The moment you two do, let me know,” Cunningham reported. “I’ve been dreaming of planning weddings. Might have chosen to be an event planner if I wasn’t hopped on jealousy.”

And the rest of the evening wore on as talks of baby showers (for myself and the Booker twins) and wedding plans (Mariah wanted a late-summer wedding while everyone still kept mum about my wedding plans) with no more fears of pregnancy or insecurities in the air.

It was good to have Omegas around to just lean on each other and wish the best. And it was the thing I needed to chase those anxieties away.
