Chapter 34 His Thoughts Slipping Away 

Elizabeth’s sudden embrace caught Liam off guard, causing him to furrow his brows. He wasn’t fond of physical contact and would have pushed away anyone other than Elizabeth. Just as Liam was about to push Elizabeth away, the door behind them swung open. 

Since the end of the banquet, Gwyneth had been eagerly anticipating returning to the Luther residence and getting some rest. However, due to Glen Corporation matters, she had been occupied for a long time. 

Once she had made some progress, she swiftly got into her car and hurried back. Little did she anticipate that upon pushing open the door, she would be confronted with this shocking scene. 

Gwyneth caught sight of Elizabeth’s smug smile directed at her over Liam’s shoulder. It was almost as if she was deliberately flaunting it. 

Gwyneth couldn’t help but think, ‘That woman seriously lacks any common sense.” She let out a sigh. She didn’t care where Elizabeth was. but if Elizabeth was going to disturb her peace, that was a different matter altogether. “Well, at the very least, even if I can’t afford to mess with her, I can simply avoid her, right?” 

Liam also recognized who was standing behind him at that moment, so he wasted no time in pushing Elizabeth away. Just as he was about to turn around, Gwyneth forcefully bumped into his shoulder and made her way upstairs. 

After a few minutes, Gwyneth reappeared. She had a coat slung over her arm and a suitcase in her hand. Her lace didn’t show much emotion; her thoughts were solely focused on giving Liam and Elizabeth some space. 

Elizabeth, on the other hand, couldn’t help feeling a bit unsettled after being pushed away by Liam. However, now that she saw Gwyneth about to leave, all the negativity vanished. Her heart brimmed with joy, although she maintained a pitiful facade, as if she felt guilty for causing a rift between Llam and Gwyneth. “Ms. Glen…” 

In a swift motion, Elizabeth reached out and grabbed Gwyneth’s arm as she walked by. The tearful expression on Elizabeth’s face held a genuine power to evoke sympathy. However, much to Elizabeth’s dismay, Gwyneth saw herself as someone with a heart of stone. 

“Ms. Lisle, think twice before you speak. Who knows, if you say something, I might change my mind about leaving.” Gwyneth stated, her words having a clear impact and causing Elizabeth, who had intended to feign innocence, to instantly close her mouth. 

Seeing this, Gwyneth couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle. Without even sparing a glance at Liam, she calmly walked out of the room. As the sound of the door closing reached Liam’s ears, he clenched his lists. It wasn’t that he didn’t have the intention to ask her to stay. but he knew there was no justification for it. After all, it was him who had brought Elizabeth to their home. 

However, with Gwyneth’s departure, Liam felt his thoughts slipping away as well. The once spacious mansion now felt empty and lifeless without her presence. 

His mind involuntarlly drifted back to the phone call he had received during the piano competition earlier that day. Since then, he hadn’t received any further updates. It was time to pick up the pace, 

Disregarding Elizabeth who was still at his side, Liam made his way back to the study and reached for the phone to contact his 

subordinates once again. 

By the time he returned to the living room, half an hour had already passed. 

*Liam, thank you for your help with the banquet and the dress today. You should get some rest,” Elizabeth said. 

Impatience had taken hold of Elizabeth during that half hour, but she also harbored some selfish thoughts. The longer it took, the better her chances of staying overnight here. After all, that bothersome Gwyneth had already moved out. 

However, as soon as Liam spoke, he shattered all of Elizabeth’s lantasies. “I’ll take you home so you can get some rest.” 

Given the current circumstances, if it were in the past, Elizabeth might have had the courage to coquettishly plead with Liam to let her stay overnight in one of the guest rooms or something. But now, she couldn’t decipher his thoughts, and Gwyneth’s presence had stripped her of her confidence. 

Elizabeth considered all the possibilities in her mind, but in the end, she simply offered a light smile and nodded. However, a simmering anger consumed her from within. 

After a day filled with turmoil, when Llam finally dropped Elizabeth off at her home, the sky had grown completely dark. He sat in his car. pondering Gwyneth’s departure from the Luther residence and a sense of unease washed over him. 

After contemplating for a while, Liam dialed a number. 

Meanwhile, on the other end of the line, Gwyneth sat in a newly opened bar, nestled in a relatively quiet corner. With a smile on her face. she watched the singer performing in the center of the bar. 

“Gwynnie, your phone is ringing.” 

Caught in the midst of sipping her drink, Gwyneth heard the remark and glanced at the caller ID on her phone. Raising an eyebrow, she had no intention of answering the call. 

“Judging by your expression, I can already guess who’s calling.” remarked a girl seated across from Gwyneth. She possessed a pretty face with a touch of cuteness, but her tone dripped with disdain. 

“Oh, when did you acquire this skill? Impressive. You even managed to keep it hidden from me,” Gwyneth responded. 

Aubrey Ann playfully tapped her temple with a finger, wearing a mischievous smile, implying that she only needed her brain to figure it out.
