Just as his figure had covered only half the distance, the glimmer of the blade had already flashed past Alec Pierce's neck.

Alec Pierce opened his mouth but couldn't say a word. His legs gave out and he lost his breath. His eyes widened. Until that moment of death, he could hardly believe that he had died just like that.
