The Witch's Pirate! (Book 1)
Chapter 25: Creepy House

Crystal

After two hours of just roaming the town, trying to get familiar with it. We came back to the fountain that stood in the middle of the towns. Max stretched his arms above his head.

“We need to spread out, this isn’t working out. You said you know someone, but we have been walking aimlessly.” He turned to speak to Belle. Belle rolled her shoulders and turned to face him.

“I couldn’t spot them, or find the tavern, I remember it was nearby. Strange, but first let’s go eat. I’m starving, aren’t you Crystal?”

She turned to face me. I bit my lower lip and rubbed my stomach, as it grumbled, making Belle giggle.

“Come, there’s a pub nearby.”

Belle started to walk on her right, and we started to follow her, but in doing so, a strange eerie feeling passed by me. I shivered, looking back, only to stare at the statue. I shivered again, rubbing my arms.

Why do I feel like it was staring at us?

“You feel it too,” I heard a heavy accent on my ear. I turned my face to see Captain Bayou staring at the statue, but dangerously close to my face, I lower my head covering my face with hair, and my heart pounded hard

“What do you feel?” I asked him.

“Like is watching us. We need to be careful,” he told me. I nodded, and turned to follow Belle and Max, but in doing so, they both disappeared on us.

“Err, where are the others?” I asked, looking everywhere.

“They were here a few seconds ago, let’s go and ask in there.” Captain Bayou pointed at a small house down the street. The strange thing about this house was that it had hay for a roof, the windows were round, but it looked like evil eyes were staring at us. The door was made out of wood is and was slanted. I frowned, but I didn’t say anything. About two minutes later we stood in front of the creepy house old balcony.

“Well, go on, love, knock on the creepy old house,” he told me. I looked up at him and arched a brow. S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FɪndNøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“What happen to your gentlemen manners? Why do I have to do it?”

“I’m being the gentlemen, the expression ladies first are a thing with me, plus I will just scare them off,” He shrugged his shoulders.

“Oh? With what? Your silver eyes?” I asked him.

“Aye, you’re pretty quick on catching up. Also with my looks, of course? Even though I’m a pirate, I am handsome,” he gloated. I rolled my eyes at him.

“I think I see your head getting bigger. I highly doubt whoever lives here will faint at the sight of you. It’s more like whoever lives in this creepy house will scare you off. I thought you weren’t scared of anything?”

“Who said I wasn’t? I am human, and there’s a lot that I’m scared off,” he told me shaking his head. Something in his tone caused me to look up at him, he was looking straight at the door, if he could, he could have made a dash for it.

His expression was funny, though, like a child who was ready to be scared or something.

A tiny snort passed my lips.

That snapped Captain Bayou of his trance and he looked down at me.

“Did you just snort?” he asked. I shook my head, holding my mouth, even tighter. His expression was, priceless

“You did love, what is so funny?” he looked lost, his expression, it got to me so badly, that I let go of my hands, and wrapped my arms around my stomach, laughing hard.

“Yo... Your expression is so funny. You look like you’re ready to run for your life. You normally cocky and cool, but this is so new to me.” Captain Bayou raised a brow, confused even more.

“I don’t get it, I don’t find it funny, this place gives me the bad vibes.” he admitted, but I couldn’t stop laughing. I actually bent on my knees, and tears gathered in my eyes and my stomach hurt. My first real laughter, ever since I had gotten sold to the king. It felt good.

“You can be so clueless at times, it’s so funny.” my voice squeaked, wiping away a tear and glancing up at him. He just kept staring at me.

“Are you done making fun of me?” he asked, annoyed. I breathed out and stood up, only to flop back, since my legs fell asleep. Captain Bayou bent and sighed, stretching his arm out.

“You are so weird, now you’re laughing?” I took a hold of his hand and he pulled me up. I cleared my throat, while moving my leg to wake it up.

“Can’t I laugh? You were funny, so I laughed,” I told him. He moved closer to me, and using his hand, he tugged my hair behind my right ear, and his silver eyes softened.

“I thought you would never laugh. It’s nice to hear it.” His voice is tender. My heart suddenly jumped and my cheeks flamed up at his words. I lowered my head.

“Everyone laughs, now back to reality.” I turned to face the creepy house.

I sighed and shook my head.

“Here we go,” I stretched my arm out and knocked. No answer the first time around.

“Okay, no one home, let’s go.” I laughed nervously, trying to sneak away, but Captain Bayou grabbed my wrist and pulled me back.

“Let’s go check somewhere else.” he said.

He pulled me away, but never took notice of the door crack opening. We walked further down and stopped in front of a large green pub. I jumped out of surprise when the door slammed open and a drunk man was thrown right in front of my feet.

“If you don’t have money, don’t come back you drunk bastard.” I heard a thick voice. I lifted my gaze and all I could see was a smirk pass Captain Bayou lips.

“Don’t think about it, I’m not going in there, remember last time,” I told him, holding his arm. He looked down at me.

“What? I ain’t thinking of nothing love, you’re hungry, and I’m starving. Let’s go. We will find them sooner or later,” he tells me.

I didn’t say anything, but I let him go first. Slowly I followed, and a strange aura passed through my bones. I turned once again, and this time looked at the creepy house. I saw the door close rather hard, causing the hair of my arms to stand. I swallow hard, and turn to face the entrance of the pub.

“Seriously, why do I feel like more than two eyes are watching us?” I asked myself, as I followed Capt. Bayou.
