The Witch's Pirate! (Book 1)
Chapter 33: Protect

Bayou

I placed on my leather jacket and adjusted it. Turning to head out, I spotted Crystal staring at the candle fire near the door, on top of a small table. Her expression looked gloomy. I frowned and walked up to her.

“Love, let’s go.” Avoiding to question her about what was wrong. The less I knew the better. She lifted her head, and opened her mouth to say something, but suddenly the elder came in and turned to face her.

“Little one, here you go,” she opens a small brown bag, that hung around her arm. Crystal turned to stare at her.

“Yes?”

“This, take it when it starts hurting, it will prolong it, but only for a few months more. It’s the closest thing I can help you with,” she took out a small bottle of red liquid. Crystal took it in her hands and arched a brow.

“Err, exactly what is this?” she asked. The elder turned her gaze to me, and the corner of her mouth twirled up.

“You know what that is for little one. The eyes are the window of the soul, after all,” Crystal eyes widened, understanding what she meant, I frowned.

Did the shadow hurt her?

“Pirate be at ease, your wife is unharmed, you will not be able to return her today or any day at the matter. I can guarantee you that since the king is coming our way. Now have a blessed trip young ones. Hear my words, I wonder if anyone is going to polish that statue today? Hmm. I wonder.” She placed her arms behind her and walked away.

Crystal lifted the bottle up to examine it. I lowered my gaze and stared at her.

“Is something wrong with you, love?” I asked her. She lowered the bottle and looked up at me.

“You won’t be able to return me, she said so, and no, nothing is wrong with me.” she informed me with a hint of happiness. I didn’t believe her at all.

Liar.

“Is that so? Want to test it out?”

“Nope, the king is coming, so you won’t have time, will you?”

She sounded proud of herself. I moved closer, grasping her arm and pinning her against me. She gasped, looking up at me.

“Bayou?”

“Are you proud of that?”

“No, not really, but I won’t be leaving. You can’t get rid of me that easily. I’m stuck with you. So deal with it. You need to teach me how to use my powers and more sword fighting.” Her face heated up.

“Is that so? I’m giving you one more chance, you were begging me last time. If you stay with me, you won’t return home, and you have to stick with me, no matter what, even when I say we sleep in the same room.” She hiccuped, lowering her face.

“While you don’t touch me, and respect me, then okay. I won’t go home until this is all over. You gave me your pirate word, and I will trust you for it.”

“Didn’t I tell you don’t trust too easily.”

“Then I’m stupid for trusting a bloody pirate,” she hissed. I sighed, letting go of her arm, and taking a step back.

“Then that’s it, you won’t be returning home, you’re lucky the stupid bastard is coming, or not, I would have sent you before you even blinked an eye.”

“Well, I’m blinking now, and I’m still here.” she snapped. I actually snorted at her words, biting my inner cheek, stopping myself from laughing.

“Is an expression love,”

“I knew that, so I’m staying?”

“If you follow my rules.”

She nodded.

“I will follow everything you say, and I won’t leave your side.” She suddenly took a hold of my hand, and I could feel her small hands trembling. I kept my eyes on her, watching her face turn redder as she avoided my eyes.

“Promise me that you will be okay, it was scary to see you hurt.” her voice trembled. I moved my hand and grasped her chin, making her look straight at me.

“Is not the first nor it will be the last love. Get used to it. While you’re unharmed, I can take anything.” I whispered to her. She hiccuped.

“I don’t like it, is scary,” she whispered, moving to grasp my hand. Without thinking, I move closer to her and lower my head getting dangerously close to her without removing my eyes from her.

I was getting lost in her dark green eyes, my breathing heightened, but a clearing of the throat, caused her to jump. I just lazily moved my head, rolling my eyes.

What the hell just happen?

“Seriously, what’s with the scare jumps,” she grumbled. Turning, Belle and Max looked at us. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ (F)indNƟvᴇl.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“You know, the tension between you two is getting deeper by the day. Since you two are married, there’s a room behind us, we can give you an hour, if you want,” Belle fanned herself with her hand, while Max chuckled.

“Eii, don’t say that! We’re just friends! Do I have to repeat myself every time? It gets tiresome.” Crystal covered her face with her hair.

“Sure friends, not even with my own wife, it was like that.” Max murmured, shaking his head, leaving the house. Belle stared at Max back, with a hurt expression. I cleared my throat, rubbing the back of my neck.

“Now that we have cleared things out, come with me love, no I mean Captain Belle. Sorry love is a very old habit, so is going to be hard to not call anyone love, besides you.” I turned to stare at Crystal.

She arched a brow, but didn’t say anything and walked around me and went up to Belle.

“I’m staying, I can help you save your sister,” Crystal jumped a little, like an excited small child, making Belle smile with her.

“Good to hear, let’s go and tell Max,” Belle and Crystal away, leaving me alone. I raised my arms up.

“Oi, are you leaving a wounded man behind? Is not lady like.” I grumbled, but no reply.

I looked down at the floor, and my expression changed, into a dark one.

“Are you sure?” I asked, feeling Alden presence behind me.

“Yes, she’s the key that can save you, but sometimes things don’t end up as you want it. That poor woman will die in a sense that will make it feel your fault.” she replies, a sense of fear rushed into my heart, but I lifted my head, and started to walk away from her.

“Then I should change that? Don’t I? After all, I’m called the deadliest pirate that ever sail the seven seas. That woman, I will protect her with my life, even if I have to betray her.”
