Julia Serling walked along the planted rows of vegetables in her mother’s garden. She looked over to her mother and Julia Davis on the other side of the garden.

“It good to be home,” she said to them.

“Yes, it’s too bad that I’ll need to be returning to Pensacola soon,” Julia responded. “I suppose you will be returning to classes in a few weeks and won’t have much time for traveling.”

“Yes I will start classes at dad’s archeological academy soon.”

“You’ll be missing Joel while he’s off to study on Earth; I suppose?”

“Not really,” Jul said as she gathered the last bit of vegetables into her basket before going up the steps into the house.

Richard and Jean were talking in Richard’s study.”

“In two years. . . ? Jean exclaimed. “My word Richard those creatures are remarkable.”

“Yes it is remarkable. Aumrill told me it was due to the lack of preoccupation with survival.”

“You mean they were busy learning instead of fighting.”

“Precisely; my French speaking friend they are most interested in convergence than anything.”

“And if he continues his studies he’ll be speaking German as well,” Julia interrupted.

“Ah Julia natürlich. Ich werde dich nie vergessen. Vielen Dank für Ihre Geduld mit mir.”

“Sie sind herzlich eingeladen Jean, aber Sie müssen auf Ihrer Grammatik zu arbeiten. Sie werden in kontakt bin ich mir sicher?”

“I’ll leave you two alone,” Richard said leaving the room.

“Thank you Richard,” they said in unison.

“Ich werde ganz sicher in kontakt bleiben, ich muss bald wieder arbeiten. Richard sagte mich wird es eine weitere expedition in ein paar Jahren sein. Wirst du da sein?” Jean inquired

“Wir werden sehen, aber wie ich jetzt verlassen wird heute nachmittag im wege der Mars Express.”

“In that case I will not waste words,” he said in clear English and then kissed her. She faded in his arms and he stood alone; eyes gaping.

Later, walking out the front airlock Jean said to Richard: “I must be returning home; I will see you at the school.”

“Take care Jean,” Donna said and Richard concurred.

“Are we going back to Orion in a couple of years?” Donna said after the airlock was completely closed.”

“I am curious to see how they do,” he responded in a low tone.

“So am I,” she admitted, “they’re an interesting species. They seem to be care free and that takes a little getting use to.”

“Well, one of the problems with the human race is that it is too uptight with itself and the Moirae are a breath of fresh air to me.”

“For once we agree on an observation, that’s going to take some getting used to as well.”

She pulled him close and kissed hum, and then pulled back in a rough way shaking him. “And if you as much think about leaving without me you’re in for serious trouble.”

He grabbed her and pulled her close and kissed her.

“And you dear, know just when to take charge. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
