Taylor Atwood turned to his mother, “Did you see Clara with another man?” 

“You think I wouldn’t know about that? Think about it, if Clara was a good girl, why would I have stopped her from coming to our house? Wouldn’t I be happy to see you two in love?” 

Teresa gently patted her son’s hand, “Even if we don’t mention Clara, do you know what kind of man her father is? He’s a gambler! When he’s broke, he forced Clara to give him money!” 

“But Clara is a poor soul! Maybe her liking for money isn’t her true intention!” 

“But can you accept a woman who could sell herself for money at any moment?” 

Taylor fell silent. 

“I know Clara can’t control her own fate, but the Atwood family is a decent family! We can’t let people gossip about us! What your father and grandfather built is the fruit of their blood, sweat, and tears! If you really marry Clara, her greed could quickly ruin our family’s wealth! Taylor bowed his head, “So, did you really cause my memory loss?” 

“No!” Teresa denied firmly, “You’re my son, how could I do anything to harm you? I just want what’s best for you!” 

“I understand, Mom! You go on, I need some quiet time.” 

“Okay.” Teresa nodded, tucking him in, “You’ve been unwell lately, and not in a good mood, I think you should take a break from work! Stay home and rest! You can go back to the office when you’re feeling better! I’ll have the secretary handle things for now, he’ll call you if anything comes up.” 

“Okay.” Taylor managed a weak smile. 

Teresa gave him a worried look before leaving the room. As a mother, she also had her own difficulties, hiding things from her son on one hand, and protecting the family’s interests on the other. She knew that one day her son might discover the truth, might blame her, might even hate her. But she had no choice, it was all written in the stars, all she could do was try her best to protect her son and the Atwood family. 

That night, Clara spent in the hospital. 

The next day, Aiden was brought home, but Sophia Melendez insisted on him not going back to school yet for fear of infection. 

“It’s time, I need to go to the office!” Clara washed up and was ready to head to the Melendez Group. 

Emmett Melendez stopped her, “You didn’t get any rest last night, why go to the office? Go back to bed!” 

“No way! The review results are being announced today, how could I, as the designer, be absent?” Clara laughed and patted her chest, “Look at me, I don’t look tired at all! I’m full of energy!” 

“You’re just messing around! Don’t you care about your own health?” 

“No way! Just let me go.” Clara shook his arm lightly and giggled, “This is my first time in charge of a design, I want to be involved all the way! Can you just let me fulfill this wish?” 

Emmett looked a little helpless, “You’re always like this, next time I’ll really have to think about whether to let you be in charge of design!” 

She’d been burning the midnight oil ever since she’d taken on the task. Now that the design plans have been submitted, she still doesn’t
