Emmett was totally stoked about having a baby. He wouldn’t be down for an abortion. But do I really want another kid? 

She still had no idea how to break the news to him at the right time without messing things up with Elio. 

Clara gently rubbed her belly, and she felt like a baby was inside her.

The next morning. 

After Clara got up and cleaned up, she walked downstairs and saw Sophia chatting with Alex, with sweets in her hand. 

One look and she knew Sophia was spoiling Alex with sweets again. Clara wasn’t really cool with her spoiling the kid like that, but it wasn’t her place to say anything right now. 

“Mom, you’re up?” Alex spotted her and rushed over to hug her tightly. 

She picked Alex up and said, “You naughty boy, why are you eating sweets again? You should have a proper breakfast in the morning. You can’t always eat so many sweets, which hurt your teeth.” 

Before she could finish, Sophia interrupted, looking pissed, “Are you not happy that I gave him sweets? He’s a kid. What’s wrong with wanting sweets? We’re not kids anymore, so we don’t crave sweets.” 

She didn’t dare to talk back, so she just forced a smile and said, “I’m just worried about his teeth. And Alex has been eating too many sweets…” 

“So now you’re talking back?” Sophia was about to flip the table, “Let me tell you, Clara, they’re my grandkids, don’t act like you’re their mother!” 

She bit her lip, not knowing what to say. 

Clara knew she couldn’t argue with her or talk back, so she just shut up and sat down. 

When Emmett wasn’t around, Sophia always had to act all high and mighty. 

If Emmett was there, she wouldn’t dare to speak like that. 

Clara didn’t reply, and Sophia asked, “Do you know who Aiden and Alex’s biological mother is?”

Alex said, “Yeah, I don’t want any ‘biological mother’!” 

As soon as he said that, he saw the warning look in Aiden’s eyes. Alex immediately shut his mouth and started eating his toast. 

Sophia was completely absorbed in her plans, ignoring Aiden and Alex’s reactions. 

“They’re still young and don’t understand how complicated things are. They think the person they see daily is the closest to them. But a birth mother is a birth mother, a stepmother can’t replace that. I think you need to understand that.” 

Clara nodded, “I understand. When do you plan on taking them to see her?”
