“Mr. Melendez, don’t forget that I’m just your pretend wife!” Clara finally couldn’t help but whisper a reminder. “If you get me used to this lifestyle, when our contract ends. I’ll be left high and dry. After all, when left to my own abilities, forget about private jets, it’ll be a miracle for me. just to get near one!”
“That can be easily solved.” Emmett’s thin lips moved slightly, “As long as the contract doesn’t end.”
“That’s impossible!” Clara laughed and shook her head, “I dare not to be your wife for a lifetime!”
“Why?”
“Do you think I don’t know my own status?”
Emmett frowned when he saw Clara’s smile.
He wasn’t sure if Clara was truly clueless or just pretending not to understand his meaning.
Emmett stayed at the airport with Clara, showing no signs of leaving, as if he were waiting for her to board the plane.
Elio kept calling, but she didn’t dare to answer.
Clara glanced around and said, “I need to use the restroom.”
“Okay.” Emmett was in a video conference on his phone, so he just nodded, indicating she could leave.
Clara quickly left with her phone, running straight to the restroom in the VIP lounge.
She looked around carefully.
This place should be safe, as it is less likely for people to come here.
Clara answered the call, and Elio’s displeased voice came through.
“Why are you always so secretive? You didn’t answer my calls, as if you were up to no good!”
“What bad thing could I possibly do?! I was too busy with work and didn’t hear it! I’m at the airport now, just wait for me there.”
From the other end of the phone came Alex’s young voice.
“Mom! You’re finally coming! I miss you!”
“Okay! Be a good boy and listen to Mr. Milburn, I’ll see you soon! If Mr. Milburn tells me you’ve been naughty, I won’t let you off the hook!”
Alex chuckled, “Don’t worry, we’re getting along just fine!”
“That’s great!” At first, Clara was worried that Elio couldn’t take care of Alex, but it seemed like
she worried over nothing.
“Mom, I want to see you now!”
“Very soon, I’m already at the airport! You and Mr. Milburn, come pick me up! By the way, does. your wound still hurt?” Clara was still worried about this.
Alex had always been scared of pain, ever since he was little.
She could imagine how heartbroken Alex must have been crying, or else Elio wouldn’t have called her in such a displeased tone.

Clara sighed, “Alex, you’re being overly dramatic.”

“Okay, Alex, it’s not convenient for me to talk on the phone right now, we’ll talk when we see each other, okay?”
Clara was worried that Emmett would come looking for her soon.
“Okay! Mr. Milburn and I will wait for you here!”
“Alright.”
After hanging up, Clara took a deep breath.
She was about to see her son, so she was a little excited.
