Eloise’s eyes widened in surprise while Vaughn frowned.
“What are you talking about, mom?” he asked in an aggravated voice.
“Come on, honey,” his mom urged with a smile. “It’s not like the two of you haven’t done anything worse before,” she winked, insinuating that they already had sex since Eloise is supposedly already pregnant. “Unless you’re not telling the truth,” she glanced at her stomach.
Eloise stiffened at her statement. Did she become suspicious after their conversation?
It seemed like Vaughn had the same idea as her as he suddenly held onto her chin and gently leaned in.

The two of them had talked about it during their contract signing–they could engage in simple intimate acts like kisses and hugs only when they’re around Vaughn’s parents.

They focused their attention on Eloise, causing her to become even more shy.
She held onto Vaughn’s arm and tugged on it.
“Let’s go, Vaughn,” she said in an embarrassed voice.
“Please visit us soon, Eloise,” Rose said. “We’ll make sure to- prepare your favorite dishes.”
“Thank you,” she quickly responded before pulling Vaughn out of their house.
As soon as the breeze hit her face, she let out a sigh of relief.
He scoffed as he watched her catch her breath.
“Why are you being so dramatic? Was that your first kiss or something?” he jokingly asked.
Eloise didn’t respond, causing him to go silent.
“You’re kidding,” he deadpanned. “How old were you again?”
“24,” she muttered under her breath.
“And you haven’t even had your first kiss yet?”
“Like that’s so bad?” she retorted. “I’m fine, thank you. At least, I’m not at risk of getting the herpes virus. Oh wait, I might be, now that you’ve kissed me.”

His lips were very well–taken care of, actually. But, of course, she wasn’t going to tell him that.
“Yeah, keep lying to yourself,” he chuckled, definitely not believing her.
“You’re making a big deal out of my first kiss when you already told your parents that I’m pregnant!” she exclaimed.
He sighed. “I had no other choice. Do you think my parents will believe me if I say I’m going to marry a girl I met just a month ago? Of course, I had to tell them that I got you pregnant.”
His story made sense, so she just crossed her arms in front of her chest and sighed.
“Just get in the car. We’re not meeting my parents anytime soon, so you’ll be pregnant by then.”
She nodded her head and got into the passenger seat.
As they entered, Eloise couldn’t help but think about what Rose had told her a while ago–about how Alina doesn’t truly love Vaughn.
“Hey,” she said, opening up the topic.
He hummed.

“How did you meet Alina?” she asked.

He pursed his lips together and didn’t answer for quite some time.
“I told you not to meddle with our relationship, didn’t I?”
She looked down on her lap.
“I was just curious,” she said in a soft voice. “Your mother told me some things about her.”
He chuckled coldly. “Get Alina’s name out of your mouth,” he said.
“What?” she asked.
“Stop acting like you know anything about the two of us. I don’t want you to think that you have the right to talk about her just because I already married you.”

“Always stay safe, alright?” Eloise’s mom, Jane, said as she hugged her daughter.
“I will,” Eloise said. “Take care of Cam for me, mom.”
Jane nodded her head with a regrettable feeling. She regretted not being able to take the role of the breadwinner causing Eloise to struggle for their family.
She’s very thankful for her daughter. She knows that they wouldn’t be able to survive without her.
Cameron looked at her sister with tears in his eyes.

Eloise felt her heart break, but she kept a smile on her face and opened her arms wide.
“Come here, you rascal.”
Cameron didn’t hesitate as he went straight into her hug.

“I’ll miss you too,” she said in a shaky voice. She was trying her hardest not to cry since she wanted to be strong for the two of them.

They broke off from the hug and Eloise wiped Cameron’s face as they separated.
“I’ll be hella scared without you there,” he said.
“I know, you scaredy cat,” she chuckled. “You love your sister, don’t you?”
He meekly nodded his head. The 18–year–old looked like a baby in front of his older sister.
She pinched his cheeks.
“I’ll be there, don’t worry.”
Just then, she heard a beep coming from outside of the house.

“It’s time for me to go now,” she said in a sad voice. “I’ll see you soon.”
“See you, sweetheart,” Janet said, while Cameron couldn’t say anything due to his tears.
She smiled sadly and nodded her head, turning away from them to stop the tears from streaming down her face.

As she made her way inside Vaughn’s penthouse, she was reminded once again about the gap in their social status.
He was waiting for her on his black leather couch, clad in nothing but a silk robe.
She stopped in her tracks and stared at him for quite some time.
He was reading something on his phone so he didn’t notice her presence yet.
She observed his features as he continued reading.
How could someone this good–looking have the personality of a devil?

Eloise was surprised when he suddenly spoke. It seemed like she had been staring at him for quite some time.
She quickly wiped the side of her mouth but stopped when she didn’t feel anything.

It was basically just one big luggage and a duffel bag. She really didn’t have much.
