Unknown Magic (3)
Chapter 4

Emily landed by the waters as that was the biggest space available for her and the dragon. The was not windy but the wind from the dragons wings was beginning to settle down to the original calmness that was there. With only a few flicks from actually wind that was from the sea itself.

I made my way down the slope that led to the water and already witnessing multiple of the pack children coming to swarm the dragon. We were all used to it even Emily as she became known as the dragon lady.

Coming closer I saw Junior and Alice mingling with the children and the dragon itself. They were fascinated by the creature, from it silver scales that would flash the sun once and awhile when the dragon shifted in it sitting position.

Soon I was just in arm’s length I noticed she, Emily was wearing the clothing I saw her in this morning, probably hadn’t had the time to changed yet being understandable as she had many things to do as the speaker and head runner for her family now.

She glanced at me when I stood beside her joining, watching the children finally settle around the dragon.

“What’s up?” I questioned eyeing my children but I knew they knew better, but as a mother, I still kept on an eye on them both.

“Can we speak in private?” Emily motioned with her head directing up and away from the little ears towards some docks that were on the edge of the waters, just outside of the outline village.

I nodded and followed her to where a bench was positioned to overlook the docks and beach. We sat down comfortable while still watching the children from afar as were some parents. But there was trust between us and Emily with her dragon. As it just sat or laid there aware of the littles ones. It wouldn’t do harm but just rest ignoring the children. There would be the occasional grunts of annoyance and that when the children would know to back off and learn to admire.

I brought my attention to Em and saw that her focus was now on the dark blue waters as the waves crashed onto each other. The air was not thick with salt humid with the scent of algae.

“Is everything okay?” I softly asked but quiet that it was almost audible.

Her focus still on the dancing water, but a slight nod. Even though I felt she was off considering she witness a dead body today and I could tell there was something off with her connection to this dead body. That must have been hard enough, considering she not queen but she now sometimes has to act like one with her containing her powers.

“You know my marriage to Damon is still being processed. Just as if they are keeping him on a short leash.”

I nodded, with a hum, while slightly rubbing her shoulder to give a soothing calmness to her, “I know, exciting that you may have a marriage you want and not arranged.” Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FɪndNovᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

She turned her focus to me and her eyes may not be sad but she was hiding behind a cloak mask. “Yes, its good I get the possibility of marrying him but amongst all of this there something that is not right, and that body just gave me chills.” She says with distaste in her mouth.

“Emily” I tried to gain her attention again, she turned, “I don’t know what to say, but will mention that whoever did this has a sick mind.” I grimed a smile, “But somehow by the goddess of Kadea we will somehow figure this out in time, I don’t know how but this may begin a adventure. And by the way I am sorry you had to see a dead body.”

She smiled acknowledging my sympathy and placed her hand over mine with a squeeze. “Thank you, I appreciate it…what did you learn from the murder…if you don’t mind me asking?” she was reaching and I wouldn’t withhold information.

I leaned back into the bench letting it softly creak a bit against my weight.

“The letter wants me to find them and I am still trying to figure out why the body was hung like a puppet, also apparently I will be working with Captain Thuse on this investigation.”

“You’re in good hands, Captain Thuse is a well-respected man, shouldn’t be too hard to get along with him.” She interjected.

“Thanks, I guess?”

Silence.

“Why her? Why display her in such sick puppet form? Whose mind is that twisted?” she repeats what we talk about before.

I made my mouth keep shut because I knew I would try to answer with empty words and I didn’t want to deepen her wound.

“It’s sick” she spat and a low grumble came.

We turned out attention to it to see Em dragons becoming on edge now. The children were fewer now but starting to be little needy even though they did know better. I turned my attention back to Emily and some brightness actually came to her face.

“I guess I should go” she rose up and I followed her action. We slowly made our way back to the around the noise.

“Please keep me updated… I know that is a lot to ask for but—”

“Em don’t worry, I will” I assured her sliding her into a side hug. She was tense but relaxed into my touch.

The children saw us and knew departure was to came. They began to spread out and back to their places or keep at a distance.

Emily mounted her dragon and soon the big bat scale wings reached out and pounded the air like a crack making trees and leaves bend to its will. My hair whipped around my face and I tried to tame it as I watched my best friend ride into the sky with sadness and questions.

Not much process had happened since Emily visited but not much had actually been done since anything has happened. Only been a few days and ultimately the main focus had been on Wolf and new status on becoming alpha. To also combined it with a full moon festival that would be held.

Wolf’s family thought with so much going on and the fact that he has proven so much as to also they can rest, to why he became alpha. Wolf would move up to being a leader and fact that it gave him greater command. With all above reason it was his time.

I walked through the village watching it prepare for its new alpha. Bonfires were being made even though they already looked like they were fire from the deepen red sky, that was descending slowing onto the horizon. I gave a silent thought hoping it would not big huge storm tomorrow on the waters.

I continued forward enjoying the sights as the others began to set the tables and benches around the soon to be lit bonfire. There were twice as many tables as news been travelling around that Wolf would be alpha, the first alpha married a immortal with hybrid children. To others that was a site to see.

I was almost reaching the waters seeing oncoming ships pushing through the u-shaped cliffs that acted like gates to our sand bank. A slight wind came but wasn’t cold just a brush of wind caressing my skin.

I saw in the distance Accailia with a few others teaching the children the ways of this history pack, how it functions as a whole. Telling them stories and tales something for them to pass down onto their children.

Not being on my guard and jumping a little when someone with his familiar pine scent wrapped his arms around me. I let loose and gave in laying my head into the creak of his neck.

“How you feeling?” he whispered in my ear letting his breath tickle a little bit.

“Good, but questioning” I confessed.

He squeezed me a little tighter pressing my back into his warm front.

“Question about what?” and gave a slight kiss on my cheek.

“Questioning about our company and how the night will go” I grabbed his arms and wrapped him tighter around me forcing air not get through.

“Well hopefully tonight will be some distractions….hopefully” he emphasizing his worry as well.

I only smiled.
