Chapter 5

Mother Confessor:

A muffled explosion rouses me from my power drunk stupor. My hearts racing as I race toward the hammer. They must be destroying parts of the natives city. Though who they are I do not know, but they seem bent on destruction. Taking up position beside the hatch, with hammer in my fragile grip, I wait. It is as I had feared in some aspect. A welling of remorse for the natives structures being demolished.

After a few more blasts, and a dull thud that rocks me slightly, all grows silent. Tightening my grip on the hammer with fearful thoughts buzzing in my skull.

Graxis:

Having pulled off a successful submission of the Terran armor and guard, just as the Ober-Commander strategy unfolds seamlessly. I issue the order for the disarmament of the Confederation soldiers, and the confiscation of their armor. The Ober-Commander finds the leader of this brigade and begins his questioning.

Marckus:

“Now tell me commander, why are you all the way out here”, I begin my inquiry to the younger man.

Unholstering my desert eagle. He peers into my lens covered eyes coldly.

“What business is it of yours”, he icily returns.

Slamming the butt of the pistol sharply into his cheek, I repeat the question.

This time holding the muzzle, I destroy his left orbital socket.

“Commander, don’t make me ask you a third time”, I snarl back.

Motioning to my comrades and the captain to follow myself and the commander. Taking his arm with my left hand, I lead him toward the compound. The five of us slowly crossing the dismal terrain, the commander decides to talk. Hard to focus on what he says as his eye now dangles partially from the socket.

“We were sent by the Chairmen to acquire the Mother Confessor for the Confederation”, he says as we march closer to our destination.

“So commander, how is that going for you now”, I taunt him coldly.

“I was not aware you were still alive sir. They said you were dead. But now I see that I and my men are in deep shit”, the commander responds.

“Well commander you are correct, seeing as I turned your little field trip into a vain attempt in record time. Pity. None the less, you are in well beyond your comprehension. Let me put it this way, what I did to your eye will seem like heaven compared to the hell that awaits you. Here I thought you were suppose to be my student in some regard, yet you left yourself wide open to failure. For now we would like you to get an engineer up here to open the door for us,” I calmly tell him.

“Why should I do that for you ”, he spits hotly.

“Cause if you don’t I will shove your head so far up your ass that my request will be the least of your problems, commander”, I bite back.

Holstering my pistol, Captain Graxis hands me his short sword over my shoulder. Letting the blade flash before his stationary eye.

“Very well”, he responds. Rhino radios in the order for one of the enemy engineers. We continue our little expedition. The sound of boots on the alien ground slowly grows louder, announcing the engineer promptly accompanying us.

Red Wolf orders, ”You to the front”, she motions the terrified man with her sniper rifle.

We cover the last thirty or so paces in silence. Stopping ten paces from the entrance to the compound, I order the engineer to open the hatch.

I observe the engineer as he works the console.

“It won’t open”, he timidly says over his shoulder.

You have got to be kidding me, I think to myself. This incompetent bunch of asses has a damn code. Enraged at this.

”Cut it then”, I yell at him. He fumbles in his tool bag for the required tool. Shakily he starts to cut the opening with a plasma cutter. Never have I seen a spineless soldier in my life.
