Chapter 25

Adrienne landed herself in trouble. Suddenly, she became the target of everyone’s criticism.

She noticed the crowd’s wrathful expressions, her anxiety spiking.

“No, it’s not like that. This video is spliced. It’s not true… She splashed the milk at me… Adrienne explained fretfully, but the crowd refused to believe her. They weren’t fools, so they wondered what Adrienne took them for to try to deceive them again.  Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ Find ɴøᴠel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“We trusted you, but you lied to us. Adrienne, do you think I dare not hurt you because you’re from the Vanderbilt family?” someone questioned.

“So, she wasn’t speaking the truth. We misunderstood Samantha another added.

“Anyway, I only believe what I see. Adrienne, you have let us down someone remarked.

“Adrienne probably wants to provoke enmity against Samantha out of jealousy!” another stated.

“Indeed, Samantha is the real victim, but Adrienne talks about her as if she’s some heinous criminal!” a student said.

“By the way, don’t you find that Samantha looks similar to the Vanderbilt family members, especially Mrs. Vanderbilt? My mom showed me what Mrs. Vanderbilt looked like when she was young. Samantha and the young Mrs. Vanderbilt look the same!” someone exclaimed, and a chorus of agreement followed

Samantha smiled disdainfully, watching Adrienne grit her teeth resentfully.

She thought, “What was she thinking? Using such childish tricks to target me?”

“Sorry for barging in without permission. I just want to clear my name,” Samantha said as she smiled and nodded at the crowd apologetically.

Everyone had mixed feelings upon seeing this. They wondered what they should do to salvage the situation as Samantha seemed to be forcing a smile.

Those who criticized her harshly earlier stood up without hesitation and slapped themselves fiercely.

The crisp sound of the slaps echoed in the quiet classroom. It sounded painful to listen to

“Samantha, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have listened to Adrienne’s slanderous words and scolded you. I apologize for my words. It doesn’t matter even if you don’t forgive me,” someone apologized.

“Me too…” another joined in.

More people stood up and slapped themselves.

After waiting for about two minutes, Samantha stopped their actions. She said, “That’s enough, I accept your apologies. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes. Just don’t make the same one next time.”

They felt ashamed as they listened to Samantha’s soft voice, hating themselves for treating the gentle and polite woman this

way.

Samantha glanced at Adrienne before leaving with her phone.

Chapter 25

The curtains were all closed, and the classroom fell into dead silence after she left.

Some people felt guilty, while others looked at Adrienne furiously. They didn’t understand why she was wicked enough to hate on the gentle Samantha.

Once Samantha stepped out the door, her expression turned indifferent. She casually twirled her phone, leisurely making her way back to Class Nine.

The people in the first row of Class Nine were gone, probably out for the recitation session. However, the classmate behind Zachary saw Samantha’s idleness and voiced unpleasantly, “Samantha, aren’t you going to study?”

“Me? I don’t think so,” Samantha answered. She was being honest. She had graduated from university four or five years ago. After saying that, she returned to her seat and resumed playing with her phone.

Hearing this, Zachary coughed, hinting for the classmate to drop the conversation, but the person seemed to be angered by Samantha’s answer. That classmate fumed, “Well, Samantha, since you don’t think so, why did you transfer to Meadows High School? Did you do it for fun?”

Samantha nodded, but upon careful consideration of her current identity as a high school student, she sighed in

resignation. “Something happened, so I transferred here. I’m not in a good mood these days, so I don’t feel like studying,” she answered.

She was addicted to acting, but she tried to stop herself.

Meanwhile, the classmate still hadn’t grasped the “graveness of the situation, so he casually retorted, “What’s the big deal? Are you dying?”

Hearing this, Zachary felt as if he was struck by lighting. He hurriedly turned and covered the other person’s mouth.

The next second. Samantha sighed and declared, “Alas. You were right. I came from a rural area where the living conditions weren’t good. I felt a little uncomfortable in the past two days and went for a checkup, only to be informed that I have stomach cancer. I only have two years left to live. Mr. Youngston took pity on me and assigned me to this class. I apologize if I disrupt your studies. I’m sorry.”

With that, a hint of weariness appeared on her face.

Zachary mused, ‘Ms. Vanderbilt, why are you acting like a poor, weak woman? Besides, the story you fabricated is quite…

There was only silence after Samantha finished speaking, so she slumped onto the table as if she was sobbing.

Suddenly, Zachary felt something wet on his arm. He looked at it and realized that his classmate was crying.

‘What the hell?’ he thought.

Thus, Samantha slept peacefully through the morning. She noticed the hesitant expression on the classmate’s face during lunch while she selected her favorite food and returned to her seal

A figure sat opposite her as soon as she sat down. It was Christopher.

He sat down with a light meal, smiling at her.

Samantha didn’t say anything and just ate her meal.

Christopher couldn’t help but state, “I didn’t expect you to be so good at acting

Samantha paused and raised her head to swallow the food, giving him a warning look. She said, “Then, you better hide

yourself well, or else expose your facade.

At her words, a deep amusement flickered in his eyes, causing his chest to resonate with laughter. “You’re such a jokester, Ms. Vanderbilt. No ordinary person would have so many secrets,” he replied.

Samantha just smiled and said nothing. After she finished her food, she asked, “Are you an ordinary man? Anyway, I’m done. I’ll leave first as I have something to do”

Previously, Conrad had warned her that Christopher was dangerous and she shouldn’t get close to him..

Reflecting on their recent interactions, it dawned on her that, true or not, Christopher always seemed to wear a mask of amiability while at Meadows High School. Yet, she detected no realice in his actions..

If that were truly the case, then Samantha admired him for it.

After she left. Christopher’s gentle expression quickly faded, replaced by an icy, poker-laced demeanor.

He lowered his eyes and looked in Adrienne’s direction. She was staring at him, too. Her heart raced when she met Christopher’s cold gaze.

But soon, Christopher retracted his gaze, took his things, and lef

Adrienne was infuriated to see this.

She wondered why Christopher treated Samantha so gentlemanly while being so indifferent around her. She thought, “This is so unfair!”

Adrienne’s true color was exposed after the earlier incident. No one wanted to be friends with her. Even if there were any, was those unattractive guys.

She drove those people away angrily, which caused more people at school to look down on her.

They mused. How can she mock others’ appearances when she’s not pretty herself? Where did her confidence come from?”
