Enzo snorted, “You call that a vacation? You practically quit! Do you have any idea how the entire Angevin searched for you like crazy during your two years of disappearance!” 

Conrad had been standing by Samantha’s side all along. Hearing that, he looked at her with a look of disbelief and approval. 

“Do I look like I lack that income?” Samantha’s tone was laced with slight arrogance as she lazily ate another piece of dessert. 

“Okay, okay… but we have to keep a low profile. There’s still a crowd here.” Enzo advised her to lie low, but his voice was loud enough for everyone present to hear him. 

Everyone was left flabbergasted. 

Samantha looked up in Adrienne’s direction again and arched an eyebrow. “I can’t anymore. Not only did someone impersonate me, but they even gave me a protégée. This is a disgrace.” 

Adrienne’s hand clenched around the microphone in nervousness, her face visibly blanching. 

Hearing that. Dawson followed Samantha’s line of sight and saw Adrienne. According to Samantha’s words… Samantha is that rumored Professor Harley Brooks?’ he thought in shock. 

“Hold on Based on what you say, you’re saying that you’re Professor Harley Brooks? Are you kidding me? You’re just jealous of Adrie!” Brennan spoke up. He had despised Samantha’s attitude since she showed up and felt that she didn’t behave like an heiress should. Now that she was claiming to be Harley, he believed she must have lost her mind. 

“What makes you think that?” Samantha smiled faintly without any warmth. 

“I can attest that Samantha is Professor Harley Brooks,” Enzo stated, then looked at Samantha. “You’ve made up your mind? 

She hummed in response, took out her phone to snap a few pictures of Adrienne on the stage, and then lowered her head. 

Next, everyone’s phones buzzed at the same time. It was a notification of a new post from Harley’s account. The caption was: [How did I somehow get a protégée?] The attached picture was, needless to say, Adrienne. 

Now, everyone finally believed Samantha. Harley’s social media account had disappeared online a few years ago. Even expert hackers had no luck in tracing Harley at all. As a matter of fact, anyone with a smartphone knew about Harley’s account. Seeing the familiar profile picture and Harley’s last post, everyone was overjoyed about Harley’s return, even though they knew Harley, or, in this case, Samantha would never take notice of them. 

Someone exclaimed, “It’s really Professor Brooks? Well, honestly we should’ve known Adrienne was a fraud long ago! Her academic performance isn’t even as good as my daughter’s. How could she have been accepted as Professor Brooks protégée? What a joke!” 

Another chimed in, “Is that really the takeaway you got? How about the fact that Samantha is only 18, and yet she’s already the renowned Professor Brooks…” 

“Oh, right! Doesn’t that make Adrienne a complete joke in comparison with Samantha?” Someone laughed. 

“Obviously! My, to think Mr. Brennan Vanderbilt was just saying the speaker trailed off, not wanting to outrightly insult 

Brennan. 

These comments made Brennan feel like a total fool. 

Adrienne also couldn’t believe what she was hearing. ‘Samantha is Professor Brooks? Gosh, what has my life turned into!’ she

thought desperately. “Dad, I was deceived! I didn’t know that person was an impostor. I…” she stammered, terrified. If Hansel were to kick her out of the family because of this, her comfortable life would be over for good. 

Samantha glanced at Adrienne wordlessly as if waiting for something. 

The next moment, Hansel spoke up. “Yes… Everyone, Adrienne was deceived. She’s also a victim in this matter. But I truly never expected that my daughter Samantha would be Professor Brooks! They are both my daughters, so neither of them shall be left behind. Sammie, will you come up and cut the cake with Adric?” He tried to smooth things over, but the guests seemed troubled. If today was supposed to be the birthday party of the Vanderbilt family’s daughter, then Samantha should be the star. They didn’t agree with her having to share the cake with Adrienne. Looks like Mr. Hansel Vanderbilt is trying to give them equal treatment to please both sides, was everyone’s thought. Unbeknownst to Hansel, his image had changed in people’s hearts. / 

Samantha remained seated silently, which made him extremely awkward. 

Conrad said nothing after hearing his father’s speech, simply looking at Hansel disappointedly. He had to try hard to suppress the urge to flip the table. Today’s also Samantha’s birthday. I can’t let her be disappointed with the entire family. he ruminated. 

“And what if I don’t? Since there’s only one cake, there should only be one birthday girl. Who knows, today could be Adrienne’s birthday as well. Looks like I’ve come at a bad time. I didn’t come here to cause trouble, so Fd better stay out of this. I’m leaving. Samantha said. She stood up and nodded slightly, then casually hung her bag over her shoulder before leaving. Seeing that, Enzo hurriedly followed her. ‘Oh no, she’s pissed now!’ he thought. 

Christopher wanted to follow them but was stopped by his father, who said, “Chris, Ms. Vanderbilt probably just wants to get some fresh air. Anyone will feel upset in such a situation. We should let her calm down a little.” Christopher halted tracks, musing, Indeed. The Vanderbilt family is clearly trying to reap free benefits from her! Samantha stopped upon hearing his question. Without turning back, she looked up at the sky and said hoarsely a long time later, “Granny must’ve asked the heavens to let me know that she misses me. Enzo, I miss Granny.” 

Enzo’s heart clenched in pain. ‘Sure enough, she’s still the same as before… he thought. 

“Sammie… Are you going to leave me so soon?” Kathleen rushed out alongside Dawson and Lincoln upon seeing Samantha leave. They had never anticipated Hansel to say those things. 

“Just take it as I never came today,” uttered Samantha. With that, she started walking away, looking so desolate and forlorn as if she had always been alone. 

“No, Sammie! Your dad just wasn’t thinking straight. He’s getting old… He… Quick, go stop Sammie! There are wild animals. on the mountain at night, and it’s even raining.” Kathleen exclaimed. Kathleen’s tears melded with the rain as she watched Samantha’s gradually retreating figure. She tried to chase after her daughter frantically but was held back by Lincoln. 

“Mom, calm down! Go back inside. I’ll bring Sammie back, okay? Lincoln pleaded. He couldn’t bear to see his mother like this. Furthermore, this was their family’s fault. They had disappointed Samantha. Watching the two figures ahead, Lincoln
