Chapter 22 I’m Not Interested in The Kane Family’s Assets 

Beulah had always been submissive and dared not even breathe too loudly before Old Mrs. Kane. But today, she had made such a request to Old Mrs. Kane on Meredith’s behalf. It made Myra feel uneasy again. 

“Really?” Old Mrs. Kane asked skeptically. She didn’t look at Meredith as disdainfully as before. She didn’t expect this country bumpkin from the sticks to be so clever and score full marks.
