Vampire Greek: The Burning King
Chapter 17: One Drop

Tyran hadn't cried, whined or laughed in the midst of all this. If Roman wasn't able to sense his heartbeat, he would've assumed the baby was fake.

"Are you okay now, Antearia?" Willa asked, kneeling next to her.

"I'm going to be fine. I'm a little hot, but im used to this." She got to her feet and sat in a chair that Roman could've sworn wasn't there at first, and motioned for her baby.

After handing it to her, Roman and her exchanged small glances at each other before she shook her head.

"You saw it right? You saw what happens to you?"

Roman's face paled. "Yeah. I saw."

Willa watched them stare at each other.

"What happens? Tell me!" She demanded.

"We already did. Zeus is going to kill him. But there is a chance you can turn that around."

"How?" Roman asked. He hoped they couldn't see him shaking. The vision was nearly burned into his mind. He was standing in the palace on top of Olympus with only Zeus facing him. There were spots in his eyes, the entire world was spinning and everything looked out of color, as if he suddenly had the vision of a dog. Zeus raised his hand and lightning danced across each finger until it formed a long javelin-like bolt of lightning that crackled the air around it, warping it's surroundings. He flung the bolt at Roam with all his might, and Roman could almost feel the intensity of the lightning but was jolted back into reality by Caitlyn bumping into his leg. He looked at her for a second, but it didn't look like she meant to do it.

"Did you hear me? I said get out!" Antearia looked frantic. "If Zeus comes before you leave, it's over."

"What's the easiest way out? Willa replied, standing to her feet. "I can't get Wil involved again, our father is too unpredictable. There's no telling what he'd do to him."

"Go a little further down," Antearia advised. "And jump off the clouds." Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the Find_Nøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Roman and Caitlyn stared at her, looking dumbfounded while Willa smiled and snapped her fingers.

"That's brilliant!' Willa replied nearly jumping up and down. She grabbed Caitlyn's hand and moved towards the door.

"What the hell?" Roman asked, genuinely stunned. "How high are we right now?"

"Roman, Olympus and earth are currently conjoined by the sky. At the end of this mountain is clouds that seem like they stretch out forever. But you jump off of those and into the mortal world."

"And end up falling to our deaths." He answered, shaking his head. "Not gonna do it."

"But you can fly!" she protested. "I'm a goddess, I'll be fine."

"What about Caitlyn? I can't fly with her. Your golden blood can't save her too."

"He's right." Antearia agreed. "Leave her here, and Aphrodite will send a daughter of hers to fetch her."

"No!" Caitlyn protested.

"We can't do that to her. She's been through too much." Roman told Willa. They nodded in silent agreement and grabbed each of Caitlyn's arms.

"We're going to find another way. We aren't going to leave you." Willa knelt down and told Caitlyn, staring into her sad, little sleep deprived eyes. Caitlyn smiled back, starting to cry and hugged her tightly.

Roman turned to see Antearia's opinion on this, but she had disappeared. Suddenly, he heard Tyran crying in the back. He remembered earlier when she said he never cried.

"Roman, let's go." Willa was standing in the doorway, and Caitlyn was right beside her. It had gotten a little darker since they cave in, and a strong wind was blowing outside. Willa had trouble keeping her hair out of her face. This place was above the clouds and, if his assumption was right, the sun. So how would wind manifest up here?

Before anyone could react, Caitlyn was swept off her feet and flung through the air as if a tornado materialized right in front of the door. Willa screamed and reached out for her, but she wasn't fast enough. Roman out the door and was stunned to see a dozen people standing around the hut.

A man in grey robes with gold jewelry was hovering in the air, holding Caitlin by the back of her shirt as she struggled to free herself.

"Why would a daughter of Zeus bring foreigners here, to the Oracle of all places? You better speak now girl."

"Let her go Eurus!" Willa demanded. "She's a future maiden of Aphrodite!"

Eurus face dropped and he lowered Caitlyn immediately. He straightened out her shirt and kneeled in front of her.

"I'm sorry miss, I didn't know. Please don't tell Lady Aphrodite, I-"

Caitlin jerked free of his grasp and ran to Willa, who embraced her. Roman walked up to Willa and whispered, "Who the hell are all these people?"

"Minor Gods and nature spirits." she whispered back. "They visit Olympus often when they aren't presiding over their domains. Most even live here."

"And what is he?" said Eurus, He's no god, minor or otherwise. He's not mortal either. Have you brought a monster to Olympus?"

"No! Of course not. He-"

"He can speak for himself." Eurus stormed past her and confronted Roman, who backed up a little, stunned. " What are you, creature?"

Roman stared him down angrily before forcefully brushing past him. "I'm none of your damn business."

"How dare you?! I am a god you impotent worm!"

Eurus reached for his neck and Roman spun around instantly, grabbing both of Eurus' wrists.

"I don't see anything godly about you." Roman snarled. He bared his fangs and pushed him away. Some of the people surrounding them got closer. He could sense their hostility.

"You're a vampire! A bloodsucking demon!" Eurus spat at him. "I should've known."

"Just let us go." said Roman, trying to defuse the situation. "I won't be returning, trust me."

"Oh, you won't be leaving, boy! Zeus won't be pleased when he sees filth like you. He'll strike you down in an instant!"

Willa grabbed Roman's arm and tried to lead him away. "We need to leave. Now."

Roman turned to follow her lead but was thrown into the air by a huge gust of wind. Caitlyn broke free of Willa's grip and ran towards Eurus and the nature spirits. The golden bracelets on her wrists began to glow and all of the nature spirits backed away.

"Leave him alone!" she shouted. Eurus raised his hands in defense and Roman came crashing down with a loud thud. He got to his feet, unfazed and breathing heavily. Walking past Caitlyn without saying a word, he swung hard at Eurus, hitting him in jaw. He stumbled backwards as the nature spirits and satyrs came at Roman from all sides. One Satyr kicked him directly into his stomach before he could interact, but Roman grabbed his legs and swung the satyr at the other spirits, keeping them at bay. At Caitlin's feet, vines sprouted from the ground and lunged at Roman's opponents, capturing four of them before small flowers began budding all over the vines. Roman threw the satyr at Eurus right as he got to his feet. The satyr knocked him over and yelped as they collided.

"Caitlyn, how did you do that?" said Roman, approaching slowly. The bracelets on her wrists were still glowing. The vines had stopped coming out the ground but they were still tightening themselves around the nature spirits, strangling them.

"I... I don't know how. She did it. She helped me!" Caitlyn cried, starting to panic. Willa and Roman both rushed to her side and grabbed a hand.

"It's okay. Just calm down, breathe, and try not to kill the nature people okay?" Roman tried to get her to relax when suddenly, he smelled something. He turned around and froze. Willa noticed his behavior and followed his gaze. About twenty feet away, the satyr Roman had thrown was kneeling at Eurus' side. Eurus held his hand up to his face. When he moved it away, his nose was dripping blood. Golden blood.

"ROMAN, NO!"
