Vampire Greek: The Burning King
Chapter 36: Wrong Way

“Alright girls, how are we getting out of here?” Antearia asked them as they moved away from the crowd.

“They know I’m the Oracle. Or, that I was with the Oracle. They’ll be looking for me.”

“But they’re good people, right? They made it here.” Caitlyn wondered.

“Rhadamanthus would try to keep me here. You aren’t supposed to leave here unless you are reborn. They won’t care about your quest one bit.”

“We have this sand, given to us by Apollo. We pour all of it in water and it allows us to travel out of here.” Willa replied as Caitlyn held up the sand.

“Who is Radamathics?” Caitlyn asked.

Antearia turned and pointed behind the dispersing crowd. Built into the side of a mountain was a big throne with a bearded man in red robes. He was decorated in jewels all over his robes, and two white spirits stood on either side of him, holding their hands towards his face. Judging by the way his hair was blowing, they were creating wind specifically for him.

“He’s a very wise man who was once king in his mortal life. Now he resides here, looking over the residents of Elysium.”

“Do you think there’s a chance he won’t notice us?” Willa asked her.

“There’s no doubt in my mind he already has.”

Caitlyn turned to stare at Rhadamanthus, who in turn looked right back at her.

“Guys, he’s looking this way.”

Everyone looked at Rhadamanthus as he waved for them to come over.

“Should we do what he says?” Willa asked Antearia.

“Not if we want to leave.” She answered, deliberately trying not to look at him.

Rhadamanthus called out to a few soldiers and pointed in their direction.

“Now he’s summoned guards. Can we use one of the fountains for the portal?” Willa asked as they started to move.

“I doubt it. The water continuously moves, that’s not a good thing when making a stagnant portal.”

“What about that entire ocean? Just pour it out and jump off the cliff.” Caitlyn suggested.

“It would just disperse into the water, and we all would die a second time, but end up in a place nowhere near as good as this.”

“Cut the chit chat, they’re chasing us now!” Willa screamed. They cut through a garden and ended up in a large maze like hedge area.

“Which way?” asked Willa.

“Just keep going right!” Antearia yelled. That planned worked for thirty seconds. After the third right, they hit a dead end fruitlessly try to push through the hedges.

“What are you scared of? Why are you running?” One of the guards asked as they cornered them.

“Rhadamanthus just wants to talk to you.”

“We have to leave, I’m sorry.” Antearia told him, stalling for the others.

“You merged again? Did you have a prophecy? What did you see?”

“I… I saw… Elysium being overrun… by… the souls of the damned! Yeah, them!”

The guard was shocked. “How? When?!”

“See, um, very soon, when the-”

The guard was blasted back by a blinding light and all of the hedges were suddenly on fire. Caitlyn and Antearia looked at Willa, who’s hand was extended and eyes were glowing white. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ ꜰindNʘvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Willa, why?”

“We need to go, we can’t be caught, you know this! He should be fine if he made it here, come on!” She snatched Caitlyn’s head and jumped over a burnt hedge. they kept running until they came to a steaming hot spring.

“Will this work?” Willa asked Antearia.

“Hopefully, maybe. We’re running out of options now.” She looked back and saw that more soldiers were running after them, but now they carried weapons. Caitlyn started pouring the sand into the spring when three water nymphs jumped out.

“WHAT IS THAT?!” one screamed.

“STOP POLLUTING US!” shouted another.

The last one leaped to attack but Willa’s eyes went white again and electricity danced at her fingertips.

“Don’t you dare.” she warned her.

“It’ll disappear after we leave, I promise!” Caitlyn told them while emptying the bag.

“You don’t know that for sure, Caitlyn, you can’t promise things like that.” Antearia told her.

Suddenly, one more nymph tried to jump out of the water, but most of it had already turned black so she started turning black as well. She screamed in agony and reached out for her sisters.

“HELP ME!” she screamed. “HELP ME!” But the nymphs were to scared to touch her. She dissolved into the spring and it quickly went still.

“Did… did we kill her?” Caitlyn asked Willa.

“No, of course not.” she lied. “She just got teleported to the real world. Jump in, hurry!” Caitlyn did as she was told and so did Antearia, despite the nymphs cries and protests. Willa threw bolts of lightning at the soldiers before hopping in herself, but the nymphs started muttering something in a different language and the spring erupted like a geyser as she jumped.
